TV Guide Gushes: 'Will Michelle
Obama Be the Next Oprah?'

Even if Obama loses next week, the media goo machine will keep cranking away. The new TV Guide is already speculating: “Will Michelle Obama Be the Next Oprah?” Writer Stephen Battaglio imagines what a star she could become (if her husband loses). She could be bigger than Oprah? “Michelle Obama is such an appealing TV presence that if she and her husband find themselves moving out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, she’ll have the opportunity to make the transition from high-profile engaging talk-show guest to high-profile talk-show host – arguably the biggest ever in terms of recognition.”

Michelle Obama is unlikely to replace Oprah. Oprah has shown a broad grasp of women's interests and issues, not to mention the fact that she also knows how to successfully run a large business. But Michelle still has lots of opportunities. She would be a perfect addition to The View.

Not going to happen. That would require a regular work schedule - 5 days a week - and neither of them have had that kind of work, day in day out, like the rest of us peons. They are elites and don't ever have to lift a finger the rest of their lives.

Reply 6 - Posted by: mizzmac, 11/1/2012 8:38:18 AM     (No. 8978998)

From your mouth to God's ear. I'm all for her getting her first real job, and clocking in like the rest of us. Two things will happen. First, she'll find out it's work, and she won't like it. Second, when she exposes her self-righteous, self-indulgent self at the same hour every single day, people will turn her off in droves. In TV, the viewers vote and the advertisers follow. Welcome to the real, world, FLOTUS. Let's see if you can make the grade.

...as in the next media star with no discernible talent, an ego so large that she puts herself on the cover of EVERY issue of a magazine named after herself and who, despite an ample backside, feels qualified to offer dietary advice?

Actually if you take that in the sense of "Fat Black Has-Been", then Michelle will fill the bill perfectly!

I wouldn't watch but it could be fun to have M0 get a show if only to watch her slide into ratings oblivion, just like Oprah.

It is what she has been working on for the past four years. She loves the limelight and can't stand the idea that Barry is more important. The MSM has been telling us how much we love her. We don't. Once Barry Hussain is out of office, she will be too. LOL! She actually believes the hype. That is really dumb.

Why? Because she's a well-known black female? That's what makes her like Oprah.

The media and leftists are the biggest bunch or racist stereotyping loons since the KKK.

I guess they could bring back Sanford and Son with Moochie playing Aunt Esther...that'd be a good part for her "cheerful" demeanor.

Moochelle is a working Mother? Where does she work and what does she do that doesn't require an army of assistants? She has secretaries to the secretaries for her wardrobe, her schedule and her makeup and her hair. Still she comes out of the White House looking like she is a washer woman unless it is a 5 star event. Imagine a show where someone doesn't "cooperate" and watch those witchy eyebrows go into their pointy scowl mode. Boy, that will keep the crowd of women happy.

Mooch is the next Oprah only in the sense that she'll be able to financially run a network into the ground. She can get great advice from Zero in that regard, given his taxpayer-funded investment record of complete failure.

Once they leave the WH in January, Mooch will be in about as much demand as a stale technicolor pastel broken umbrella, which coincidentally is what her wardrobe resembles.

TV Guide is offering free publicity for The Won and his Wookie this week. Not only did they have the full page article "Will Michelle Be the Next Oprah?" but also a full page of what The Won and Mooch watch on the tube. Gushing and swooning from the authors. Okra has been losing viewers and lots of them are tired of her views on everything and thinking she is wise. I have not watched her for years - she was a novelty for a brief time and now is just tiresome.

In spite of what we may think of Orca, one has to give her credit.
She worked very, very hard to get where she got.
Wookie has neither the will nor the focus to make that kind of 'investment'. She prefers to be carried around on sedan chairs while people ooh and ah at her mere existence.

Well, for one thing Oprah hasn't felt the need to lecture us on our eating habits. Ms. Winfrey has a heart (and a brain) as soft as warm parrafin. She doesn't think too clearly but she does do empathy well. What James Burnham once wrote about Eleanor Roosevelt (quoted in a 1962 column by WFB) could apply to Oprah: "Over whatever subject, plan, or issue Mrs. Roosevelt touches, she spreads a squidlike ink of directionless feeling. All distinctions are blurred, all analysis fouled, and in the murk clear thought is forever impossible."

The FLOTUS is empathetically and emotionally as hard as plate glass, although her thinking unit is no more discerning than Oprah's--perhaps less so. (Oprah has, after all, earned a billion dollars, all by herself.) I doubt MO could convincingly pull off caring about anything that doesn't directly benefit her. She is one whose celebrity status won't springboard her into a career of interacting with others outside her limited social circles. Nor will she ever be able to demonstrate any kind of intellectual celerity, so obviously lacking (as she does) the cranial wattage. The very last thing most television viewers want to see is her angry, accusatory eyes staring back at them through the screen. Ugh.

I certainly won't watch her, but daytime television is exactly where I think Mizzuz Stinky will go after she's turned out of our White House. She's already flopped as a lawyer and a hospital administrator. She's perfect for mindless daytime television--unless Sanford and Son is brought back and she co-stars as Aunt Esther.

Reply 43 - Posted by: M Stuart, 11/1/2012 11:36:15 AM     (No. 8979619)

I didn't know that daytime TV was dying for a new face. I thought K-K-K-Katie was the new goddess.

Michelle would not be able to run a talk show because she only likes to talk about herself. Hu6 she could join the slobberfest at The View. The other egos would grow tired of her after awhile.

Los Angeles County coroner´s officials said Wednesday the body recovered from a fiery, single-car crash in Hollywood that apparently killed journalist Michael Hastings will likely undergo an autopsy Thursday. But an official cause of death and closure of the case is not likely for four to six weeks or perhaps longer, they said. Coroner´s officials are hoping the results will answer why the accident happened. Officials were attempting to match dental records to help make a positive identification. The death of the 33-year-old Hastings was announced Tuesday by his employer, BuzzFeed,

Known as the City of the Century, it was once the centre of the country´s booming steel industry. But now Gary, Indiana, lies in ruins as a tragic example of American industrial decline. Authorities are desperately looking at new ways to combat the city´s crippling recession - one possiblity could be halving its size. Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson believes letting vast expanses of the city, founded in 1906 by the US Steel Corporation, return to nature might be a solution. ´I’d like to see 100,000 folks in Gary. News reports from the final debate between Democrat Ed Markey and Republican Gabriel Gomez conclude that Gomez, a first-time candidate and self-styled "new kind of Republican," delivered a strong performance. With just days left in the campaign before the June 25 special election for Senate, Gomez has trailed Markey, a 37-year veteran of the House, in every single poll. Markey currently leads by average of more than 9 points. But in the debate Tuesday night, Gomez hit Markey hard on the Democrat´s long Washington tenure, a running theme in the Republican´s campaign. The Obama administration has reportedly tried to enlist the NBA in helping it sell Obamacare to the American people. It’s unclear whether a potential marketing partnership would put big-name players at the center of ad campaigns or if it would be as simple as putting the NBA trademark on marketing materials, Politico first reported today. People can begin signing up for Obamacare in October, with the new insurance coverage kicking in next year. Many have speculated that the enrollment campaigns would benefit from a celebrity endorsement or partnership with a major sports league.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
