Roanoke College poll has
Romney up by 5 in Virginia

Mitt Romney leads President Obama by 5 points in Virginia, 49 to 44, in a poll conducted by Roanoke College between Oct.23-26. The sample consisted of 638 likely voters. The margin of error is 4 points. Using a more selective screen for identifying likely voters, Roanoke College’s poll found Romney ahead by a comomanding 54-41 margin. Thus, if these results are accurate, Obama will need a strong turnout just to be competitive in Virginia. But this wouldn’t be the 2012 presidential election without countervailing polling news. And, sure enough, Quinnipiac has released a poll of likely

Comments:
Also talked about the Quinnipiac polls from Va, Fla, and Ohio showing Bambi ahead. Turns out they all oversample dems, by larger amounts than the actual votes in 2008. That's what we're up against, corrupt polling organizations.

Hope everyone in VA, and all other states, for that matter, check their screen when voting.

I think Romney will win VA easily. But on election night they will say ''too close to call'' even if its a 6 point spread and all ballots have been counted.

There are not that many black voters in Western Virginia, though there are some in the city of Roanoke. Richmond and the Tidewater area (Tidewater is about 2 million people) is close to majority black. Northern Virginia is liberal once you get close to the beltway and heavily immigrant other wise. Outside of those areas you're not likely to find a lot of people who'll vote for Obama.

The Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative groups is outrageous. Those who did this should be fired immediately. That’s obvious. It continues a slovenly week for Barack Obama. The President has been very proud of the absence of scandal in his administration, and rightly so. The inability of his opponents to find any significant corruption in the historic $800 billion stimulus package was a real achievement, given the speed of the payout. None of his top aides have been caught up in taking bribes while in office

Former Gov. Mark Sanford completed the trail to political redemption tonight with a win over Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch to reclaim his old seat in Congress. With 71 percent of the returns in, Sanford led Colbert Busch 54 percent to 46 percent, according to Politico.com. Sanford could be sworn in as soon as next week to the 1st District seat he held for three terms. It’s a remarkable comeback for a man many pundits had written off after his highly publicized affair with an Argentinian mistress made him the source of national ridicule in 2009. Democrats jumped at the chance to pick up

Chris Broussard usually offers expertise on fast breaks and zone defense, but on Monday he drove right into America´s culture wars by calling homosexuality "an open rebellion to God" and implying that gay people can´t be Christians. Speaking on ESPN´s "Outside the Lines," the basketball analyst and former New York Times writer was discussing NBA player Jason Collins, who in a landmark move just became the first active player in one of the major pro sports to come out as gay. Collins revealed his sexual orientation in a first-person Sports Illustrated story.

To Obama´s dismay, America

The paradox of American gun control got deeper Wednesday. Or, at least it appeared to. On the surface, the poll released by The Washington Post and Pew Research Center made no sense. Only 47 percent of respondents said they were "disappointed" or "angry" that the Senate last week failed to advance a bill to expand background checks to gun shows and online sales. Yet in February, a Pew poll found that 83 percent of respondents supported an expansion of background checks to cover gun shows and all private sales – measures that would actually be stricter than what the Senate rejected.

Watching President Obama’s fury after Congress failed to pass any gun-control legislation was a sign of his political helplessness. Despite aggressively pushing for expanded background checks, despite enlisting the victims of recent gun violence to lobby their representatives, despite getting one of the more conservative senators to support a watered-down background-check measure, he fell five votes short of getting anything passed in the Senate, including losing four members from his own party.

Climate scientists struggle to

Often focused on century-long trends, most climate models failed to predict that the temperature rise would slow, starting around 2000. Scientists are now intent on figuring out the causes and determining whether the respite will be brief or a more lasting phenomenon. Getting this right is essential for the short and long-term planning of governments and businesses ranging from energy to construction, from agriculture to insurance. Many scientists say they expect a revival of warming in coming years.

Watching President Obama trying to dodge raindrops and responsibility yesterday reminded me of the moment when Dorothy pulls back the curtain and discovers that the Wizard of Oz is “just a man.” Stripped of his spell of mystery and power, the wizard is worse than mortal. He’s a fake. So it was with Obama in the Rose Garden. His performance was tired and trite, ordinary to the point of dull. His veneer of passion was so transparent that you could see him trying to summon his old-time magic by pushing the buttons

STANDING BEFORE reporters Thursday, President Obama declined an invitation to compare the recent scandals weighing down his administration with those that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes. Mr. Obama has done nothing of the kind.

The State Department, under Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, created an arrangement for her longtime aide and confidante Huma Abedin to work for private clients as a consultant while serving as a top adviser in the department. Ms. Abedin did not disclose the arrangement — or how much income she earned — on her financial report. It requires officials to make public any significant sources of income. An adviser to Mrs. Clinton, Philippe Reines, said that Ms. Abedin was not obligated to do so. The disclosure of the agreement that Ms. Abedin made with the State Department comes as her husband,

President Obama’s press conference in the rain was not a success, if by success, his supporters would mean an event which convinces anyone who doesn’t work for him that he’s getting ahead of the scandal deluge. The sight of a Marine holding an umbrella over his head only added to the weirdness of the event. So what did we learn? 1. He has full confidence in Attorney General Eric Holder, the man who purportedly recused himself (whenever) without putting it in writing (whatever). When asked about the untrammeled snooping on Associated Press reporters and editors,

“I look forward to taking some questions at tomorrow’s press conference,” President Obama said last night, after announcing the resignation of the acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller. The president scheduled a noon press conference today with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in honor of his visit. Reporters, however, found themselves waiting outside in the rain for Obama, who was 47 minutes late. Only New York Times reporter Mark Landler had an umbrella.

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.
