| Washington — President Barack Obama, locked in a fierce re-election bid, is emphasizing his incumbent's role for a third straight day, skipping battleground states to visit victims of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey, a state he's confident of winning. The president's actions have forced his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, to walk a careful line and make tough choices. The former Massachusetts governor must show respect for the superstorm's casualties all along the Eastern Seaboard. But Romney can ill afford to waste a minute of campaign time, with the contest virtually deadlocked in

Maybe it's just me, but WHAT is Babington trying to say? Is this article in English because if it is, he lost me. After four Americans were murdered because of the feckless obama's refusal to send aid to defend OUR American Embassy, Mitt Romney MUST "walk a careful line"? Seriously?

Not to minimize the destruction and damaged lives from the storm, but visiting the affected areas and making the tough decisions about Benghazi are not the same. He is only a one dimensional, cardboard cutout of a man on these stateside appearances. Playing a president. Inside the situation room where you have to be a president he fails miserably. To my mind parading around now just draws attention to his failure to lead on Benghazi.

Romney is campaigning because he wants to WIN.
Obama is traveling with Christy because the gov invited him. He probably knows it's over so he is looking for a friend.
OTOH, Christy is using Obama to get hundreds of millions for his people and state faster. And methinks that Chris knows Mitt is going to WIN.

Thanks #15 for your post - people were never told by the MSM that Bush ordered buses & trains to transfer people from New Orleans but the female Mayor said "no". It is sad that so many people have homes destroyed & floods in NYC but this happens all over America many times. Vermont lost some of its covered bridges,Nashville was seriously flooded & all over many states there have been floods & the MSM reported about 1/2 a day of this. Sandy can't compare to the San Francisco earthquake, the Chicago fire or Galveston being completely distroyed by a hurricane in 1900. Glad to see Romney campaigning again & bet he's mentioned many times support for NY & NJ.

The AP's headline write is a liar and Babington is an Obama lackey. Romney's events were replaced by drives to collect relief materials for hurricane victims. Eyewitnesses report Mitt didn't even speak to the crowds but was busy coordinating the work teams who were sorting and packing the materials onto trucks.

#20 -- you must mean Kathleen Blanco, who was the governor of Louisiana, and who declined Bush's offer of National Guard assistance until much too late. The mayor of New Orleans at the time of Katrina was Ray Nagin, also an incompetent, who let numerous evacuation opportunities and resources, like school buses, become flooded when the waters rose.

If the Democrats and the Media had the America they wanted, it would be uninhabitable. It would be a den of gays, baby killers, convicts, substance abusers and people living off someone else’s dime.
They want a ruling class / working class America but hide that truth behind the term; "fairness and equality". What a lie!
If Obama is re-elected, you can kiss America goodbye. It will never recover.

Has Obama instructed FEMA to issue EBT cards for $2,000 to everyone? This is the perfect wealth transfer opportunity, being so close to an election. I think Mitt Romney has the better plan to gather goods to send. That way the goods can be distributed by churches and volunteers. Keeps the cash from being wasted.

Whether Mitt Romney becomes the 45th president or not, Politico's Jonathan Martin insists that the Republican Party is on the verge of a looming crisis. Sticking with the same overgeneralized racist narrative, it is basically a 'fact' at this point that the GOP's conservative ideology and a lack of diversity will ultimately lead to its downfall. Conversely, the Democratic Party is poised to dominate in future elections. Nevermind that we heard this before in 2006 and 2008, with Clinton acolyte James Carville forecasted 40 years in the wilderness for the GOP. No, Martin insists that demography is destiny,

President Obama’s big rally tonight turned out to be just like his first, opening salvo of the 2012 campaign: a half-empty arena in Ohio. According toRealClearPolitics’ Scott Conroy, there were “empty seats scattered around the upper-level of Nationwide Arena … Four years ago, after all, Obama was easily filling venues larger than that …” The event even featured Bruce Springsteen and Jay-Z, and Obama still couldn’t fill it out. As it turns out, the empty seats didn’t look exactly “scattered.” They looked like substantial portions of the upper bowl of the arena, according to photos tweeted by those in attendance:

Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday struggled to draw 1,000 people at two campaign events in Colorado, one of the most important swing states this election. Republicans in Colorado have said they have not seen this much enthusiasm for the top of a Republican ticket in a decade, which is a contrast from Democrats, who are seeing a diminished level of enthusiasm from 2008. At an event in Englewood, Colorado, Biden's crowd "fell just short of a thousand people"--while an event with Romney drew 18,000--and another Biden event drew 1,200 in Pueblo, Colorado.

Today, speaking in Concord, New Hampshire, trying to look bipartisan, Barack Obama made this incredible statement: “As long as I’m president, I’ll work with anybody.” He can’t be serious. For a start, let’s take a look at immigration reform. In June of this year, Sen. John McCain, who has always championed bipartisanship, said bitterly: “This idea that this president or his people reached out to me is patently false. To somehow allege that I didn’t somehow respond to their overtures, that’s patently false. That’s their narrative, and I understand their narrative, but it’s not substantiated by the facts.”

The Illinois Republican party claims early and absentee voting has precipitously fallen since the 2008 presidential election. According to the numbers, at this point in 2008, there were 260,376 early voters and 304,290 absentee voters. Now, the party maintains, there are 195,064 early voters and 46,232 absentee voters. That's a loss of 57 percent of voters, since the last election. This, the Illinois Republican party says, is a terrible sign for Democrats. "Chicago is the heart and soul of the Democratic Party," says Illinois Republican party chair Pat Brady. "You can't get much more solid blue than Chicago

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming.
