Hoboken Mayor says 25k residents are

As many as 25,000 people in Hoboken are stranded and without power as neither rescuers or residents through flooded city streets. Appearing on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow show Tuesday, Hoboken mayor Dawn Zimmer estimated half of her city was underwater. 'They’re in their buildings and half of Hoboken is literally flooded and under water,' Zimmer said. 'And so, yeah we don’t have the--we have two payloaders and we’re going in and when we get the calls,' she said. 'And we’re trying to go in where we can to help people but the payloader cannot

Comments:
I know--these people should have evacuated. But look: none of the media have yet mentioned the fact that the Coast Guard rescued 33,500 from the roofs, attics and otherwise flooded homes of New Orleans (I checked the official number). And they began as soon as the winds permitted. That, of course, was on Bush's watch.

Why, just yesterday we had: "Obama on Hurricane: 'We leave Nobody behind'"

Is Hoboken kinda like Benghazi when it comes to rescue? So how come Bush could do it but O can't?

Were the people of Hoboken told to evacuate? Governor Christie told all who lived in the danger areas to evacuate, right?

Sounds like just another day in Hoboken. How can the residents tell the difference?

Are Shep Smith and Anderson Cooper on the story? Didn't think so. Look, whether or not the people were told to evacuate, they need to be rescued.

Precedent in such crisis says that any extended problems in the aftermath are strictly due to the racism of the sitting President.

Apparently, when Team Zero inherited the Karl Rove Evil Weather Machine, they found themselves either (1) incompetent to use it properly (surprised, anyone?), or (2) they intentionally reprogrammed it to take out rich, white elites of the Northeastern corridor, and the media and journalism capital of the country. (Which they also apparently forgot was their biggest voter base.)

But hey, at least General Zero was in that Sitch Room, watching of course on the big screen.

Yay, Barcky............../s

P.S. Did you know he has ANOTHER trip to Las Vegas planned, Thursday? Think about that while you in the hurricane zone struggle to get your lives back together - he'll be out here partying with his money-honeys and umion peeps who are instructed in Espanol to luv him.

Sorry for 2nd post - but I just recalled something....

Didn't Mitt Romney say at some light-hearted moment that he preferred Snookie over - somebody else, Honey Boo Boo? .... ? Not to mention that Gov. Chris Christie was an early and vocal supporter of Mitt's.

There ya go, New Jersey. Yer on yer own....

Yep. On Sunday the mayor ordered mandatory evacuation of basement and street level apartments. But what's that about? She didn't mind having people trapped on the upper floors?

This one is on her, I believe. Google Hoboken SLOSH map and you'll see that 90%+ of the city is in a level 1 flood zone.

Found some really stupid quotes from the city of Hoboken ahead of the storm:

"A recently-installed storm water pump at Washington Street and Observer Highway will be operating during the storm, city spokesman Juan Melli said.

With the capacity to pump 100 million gallons a day, the pump is not expected to eliminate flooding but should prevent water standing for several days, Melli said."

And, remembering the whole darn place is in the lowest-lying of flood zones:

"“This does not mean you have to leave Hoboken,” Zimmer said yesterday at a City Hall press conference about the evacuation order. “We are asking neighbors to reach out to neighbors."

In a surprise announcement, Al Gore declared today that Sandy was caused by global warming. Nobody saw that coming. /s o

Mr. Gore, can you explain why Obama did not pass climate control legislation when the Democrats had total control of the WH, House and Senate? Wouldn't you say that that was the best chance ever for such a law? Of course it was, so shouldn't we lay all of the blame for this world-ending curse at the feet of Obama?

"Is Hoboken kinda like Benghazi when it comes to rescue? So how come Bush could do it but O can't?"

Nah. Trust me; if the NG gets out there, whether there really ARE that many trapped on their roofs or not, it'll be in the news 24/7, as the news media has seized this discussion like they have Benghazi (a you tube video) and the Deep Water Horizon (The Worst Oil Spill in US History - though nobody found it)...Sandy went from Cat 1 hurricane on an unfortunate track to a "BILLIONS DEAD, NYC RESIDENT'S ADAPTING TO A CHANGED CITY, THE SKY HAS FALLEN". I feel sorry for the victims, but the media is lying about the area affected by Sandy.

The media's blowing the storm up all out of proportion to keep the narrative out of Libya.

A uniformed French soldier on anti-terrorist duties in Paris had his throat cut by a knife-wielding man tonight. The savage attack follows the murder of a British soldier by two men using weapons including knives and a meat cleaver. One of the suspects said they were acting in the name of Islam. Today there were fears that the Paris attack was a copy-cat crime and that a radical Muslim might once more be responsible. French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said he believes the attack was aimed to kill the soldier. French president Francois Hollande said authorities were investigating any

Barack Obama announced an end to America’s war on terror last week. In future, he declared, he would restrict the unmanned drone attacks that had been his own signature anti-terrorist initiative, and he would really, really make an effort to shut down the prison camp at Guantánamo Bay--as he had promised to do way back when he was running for president the first time. Presumably, this pronouncement was designed to win back the favour of the liberal media, which has been energetically disowning him ever since his administration staggered into the most spectacular series of Washington scandals since Watergate.

There has been a sixth night of rioting in Sweden´s capital, Stockholm, despite police reinforcements being deployed. Cars were set alight in poor suburbs inhabited largely by immigrants, although the unrest was reportedly not as serious as on previous nights. The rioting also spread outside the capital for the first time on Friday, with youths torching vehicles and buildings in two towns. [Snip] It is believed they were sparked by the death of an elderly man nearly a week before, who was shot by police after he allegedly threatened to kill them with a machete.

The leader of the Lebanese Shia militant Hezbollah movement, Hassan Nasrallah, has promised his supporters victory in Syria, where his fighters are backing President Bashar al-Assad. Mr Nasrallah said Hezbollah would stay in the conflict till the end. Syrian rebels in the besieged town of Qusair say they are under heavy bombardment from Hezbollah combatants. The town is close to the Lebanese border, a conduit for both the government and rebels to get weapons. [Snip] He said his movement could never be aligned with Syrian rebels who, in his view, were supported by the United States and Israel.

One of the men suspected of murdering a soldier in Woolwich, south-east London, was detained by police two months ago, Sky News has been told. Local shopkeepers say Michael Adebowale was part of a group of Muslim activists who had been reported to police several times. They were told the authorities were aware of him. It comes as a preliminary report into what the intelligence services knew about Adebowale and his fellow suspect Michael Adebolajo is set to be handed over to an inquiry next week. Hundreds of German football fans fought with each other today ahead of tonight´s Champions League final at Wembley. [Snip] More than 150,000 fans of both clubs have descended on the capital for club football´s biggest game, with many gathering in central London this afternoon. The YouTube footage appears to have been taken outside Wembley and shows fans initially goading each other after getting off coaches. Rival supporters then start throwing a number of different objects at each other. But as the supporters come together a number of fans start fighting, with many kicking and throwing punches. The Metropolitan Police has defended the way it responded to reports of the killing in Woolwich, south London, after questions were raised about how long it took officers to reach the scene. The force said police were there within nine minutes of the first emergency call and firearms officers were at the scene five minutes after that. Mayor Boris Johnson was heckled when he visited the area. BBC London´s Home Affairs Correspondent Guy Smith spoke with Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, former Metropolitan Police Commander John O´Connor and Roger Gray, a former firearms officer.

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. WASHINGTON —In a dramatic departure from existing White House procedures, President Obama requested today that his staff start cc’ing him on stuff. “Look, I know a lot of you think I’m really busy and you don’t want to bother me,” the President reportedly told his staff in an Oval Office meeting. “But cc me anyway. It’s good for me to keep up on what’s going on around here.” “It’s not good when I turn on the news and they’re talking about something at the White House and I’m like, whoa, when did that happen?”

Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.

The portion of Interstate 5 in Washington that runs over the Skagit River collapsed on Thursday after a truck hit an overhead support structure, but Rep.
