In the 2012 election, the mainstream
media's stranglehold on the political
narrative has finally been broken

Yesterday Mitt Romney pulled level in Ohio. “A late surge by Mitt Romney has made the contest between him and President Obama to win Ohio too close to call”, screamed Fox News. “Presidential Poll sees dead heat in Ohio”, announced the rather more measured UPI wire story. “Romney, Obama Tied in New Ohio poll”, said the Wall Street Journal, with characteristic hyperbole. Somewhat surprised at this dramatic turn of events, I immediately logged on to the internet to see what lay behind the reversal of fortune in the Buckeye state. And promptly found it was rubbish.

Comments:
Very interesting and more than a little worrisome. Do both sides want to mislead us?

Oh, I see...Fox news "screams," WSJ engages in "hyperbole" but UPI is "more measured"...

The brits have been enamored of hussein obama's negritude, since day one.
The reporter seems to be engaged in peculiar thinking.
And because the pollsters are over counting democrats, the numbers are skewed towards obama.

Ah, no it hasn't. The fifth column, formerly known as the fourth estate, is firmly, stridently attached to the Obama kneepads.

Apparently, pollsters are always telling the absolute truth and it was only the Media that tried to skew it. So if Gallup reports O47 R44 an O win is inevitable and the fact that the papers report a narrowing gap is irrelevant.

The guys point seems to be "I can read Gallups headline without reading the NYT's headline therfore I'm too smart to be a moron".

Never seems to occur to this loon that "truth" requires more than a 15 second search on the internet.

Battleground has Romney up 5. Gallup 4-5. Both have O at 47% and have had forever.

This explains why Obama is such an a-hole the last few weeks, why Romney is not calling O out on Benghazi, and why he still supports Murdoch. I'll be sleeping well, folks.

I think the wall crumbled with Rathergate, when a left-wing media attempt to bring down a GOP President resulted in right-wing bloggers destroying the career of a left-wing journalist. Yes, we have do now have access to raw data and have the ability to interpret the data for ourselves. But that doesn't mean every interpretation will be correct. A left-wing Blairite at a British paper can still twist the data into a misleading blog. Just because we are now free to ignore the Alphabet Networks doesn't mean we're free from leftoid propaganda.

He says Obama is going to win and the facts are obvious. And yes the article is a mess.

Reclusive movie star Doris Day greeted fans with a rare smile and a wave from her balcony on Thursday as she rang in her 90th birthday. The Oscar-nominee appeared in great spirits as she made the rather regal gesture from her home in Carmel-by-the-Sea, on California´s north coast - a quiet little enclave also home to Clint Eastwood - the first time she´s been seen in public since 2008. After opening up to Closer Weekly about her milestone birthday, revealing she´s still very much in demand, with scripts pouring in all the time, the silver-haired beauty appeared as sprightly as

State elections officials in North Carolina are investigating hundreds of cases of potential voter fraud after identifying thousands of registered voters with personal information matching those of voters who voted in other states in 2012. Elections Director Kim Strach told state lawmakers at an oversight hearing Wednesday that her staff has identified 765 registered North Carolina voters who appear to have cast ballots in two states during the 2012 presidential election.

News flash: Secular businesses

businesspeople’s religious rights claims!

A Slate article by David Gans makes much of the fact that business groups haven’t stood up to support Hobby Lobby’s religious exemption claims: This spring, the Supreme Court will decide — for the first time in our nation’s history — whether secular, for-profit corporations are entitled to invoke the constitutional guarantee of the free exercise of religion. The stakes are huge, as the justices will determine whether business corporations can claim a religious exemption from federal laws that protect the rights of their employees.

Fact Checking the 2014 State
of the Union address

A State of the Union address is often difficult to fact-check, no matter who is president. The speech is a product of many hands and is carefully vetted, so major errors of fact are relatively rare. But State of the Union addresses often are very political speeches, an argument for the president’s policies, so context is sometimes missing. Here is a guide through some of President Obama’s more fact-challenged claims, in the order in which he made them. At the end, we also examine one fishy fact in the Republican response.

The first 3D printed organ -- a liver --

Approximately 18 people die every day waiting for an organ transplant. But that may change someday sooner than you think -- thanks to 3D printing. Advances in the 3D printing of human tissue have moved fast enough that San Diego-based bio-printing company Organovo now expects to unveil the world´s first printed organ -- a human liver -- next year. Like other forms of 3D printing, bio-printing lays down layer after layer of material -- in this case, live cells -- to form a solid physical entity -- in this case, human tissue.

After 12 years of war, you would think the war planners and defense contractors have the situation in Afghanistan well in hand. And they do, if the goal is wasteful spending on such a colossal scale that it makes Healthcare.gov look like Amazon.com. (Snip) And while the Democrats continue running interference for their standard-bearer, Republicans in Congress steadfastly refuse to show spine in overseeing the president for fear that they accidentally end the war. No one wants that — things are going so well!

A team of cardiovascular scientists has announced it will be able to 3D print a whole heart from the recipients´ own cells within a decade. "America put a man on the Moon in less than a decade. I said a full decade to provide some wiggle room," Stuart K Williams told Wired.co.uk. (Snip) Williams says he and his team of more than 20 have already bioengineered a coronary artery and printed the smallest blood vessels in the heart used in microcirculation.

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after
