| US drones were in the skies over Benghazi during last month’s fatal attack on US ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, a new report claims.Defense Department officials weighed sending troops to rescue Stevens and more than 30 other Americans whose compound was surrounded by an angry mob on Sept. 11, says the report by CBS News. But no US counterattack or rescue effort was carried out.The drone and other reconnaissance aircraft observed the final hours of the protracted, seven-hour battle at the US Consulate.

I was unaware aircraft and drones were one and the same. Unfortunately you can't fit too many rescuers inside a drone. But the headline says help was trying to get there.

All this shoddy info coming out two days before the foreign policy debate. It's smoke and mirrors.
The time to help was before the attack, when the ambassador was asking for more security.

Drip drip drip, I feel so sorry for the families of those killed. The Obama administration can't give a straight answer to save themselves. Imagine how they must feel, not knowing what happened to their loved ones.

So now there were recon aircraft. I could swear that we were told there were no air assets, so we only had to rely on the cable traffic & live video feed from Benghazi at first. Any other surprises zippy?

The only people Obama has fired since being in office are whistleblowers reporting his corruption.4 Americans get killed through pure dereliction of duty and crickets on someone getting fired.Hillary Clinton is still the most popular woman in America,,Go figure.

This is most interesting..
The WH wants us to believe that they did what they could... or had a reason not to do what they did..
Yet.. those pesky nuggets of truth and timeline keep interferring with their story.
So.. piecing together, or cobbling the story- either Hillary knew about the attack sooner than she let on, Obama knew sooner, but ignored and went to Las Vegas, or all the information was put in an inbox for the Monday morning Security Meeting...
It really is a SNAFU of foreign policy.

Hillary Clinton sought clearances from Libya to fly in their airspace -------------------------
!!!!! They held meetings to cover their rearends while these men were fighting for their lives!!
Mitt Romney needs to bring this up now and at the next debate calling obama a liar stating he knew the attacks were going on yet you did nothing to help those men. obama was helping the MUSLIM terrorists.
Then obama went to Las Vegas to party!

Finally, we're getting to the heart of the matter - which is why there was no attempted rescue / counterstrike.
Question: Were rescue / counterstrike discussed with WH? Answer: Of course they were.
Question: Who turned thumbs down on these options? Answer: Who do you think?
Question: Why did WDYT disallow rescue / counterstrike? Answer: Because WDYT had reason for wanting the attack to succeed.
Question: What was the reason? Answer: Attempted rescue would have likely revealed information embarrassing to WDYT.

Anyhoo, like the article said, Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily, is only 480 miles from Benghazi and we could have had F15s/F16s/F18s orbiting over the embassy in 20 minutes, 35 top. The inept clowns in charge just let it burned while diddling around waiting for a group think consensus and permission from NATO's puppet govt.

FTA: "...Americans whose compound was surrounded by an angry mob on Sept. 11,..." The NYP, still blatting that false meme that it was an angry mob. Not the same thing as a battalion sized Al-Q assault that succeeded because the Americans weren't resupplied or provided CAS even though they held out for over 6 hours. A murder trial would be too good for those responsible for abandoning those men.

So State had eyes on the ground and Defense had eyes in the sky and they did nothing but watch people get killed.
Did Hillary ask Libya if we could enter their air space when Gaddafi was alive? Does the Libyan government in Tripoli today control anything in Benghazi? What's the worst that could have happened to us if we went in on a rescue mission? I know, four more years of 0bama.
What the 0bama administration needs to be pounded on is their response on 9/11 compared to GWB's response to his 9/11.

@6 Glenn Beck reported on Thursday or Friday that real time video was being sent to the Situation Room in the White House from an overhead drone while the fight was going on. I had heard it was being beamed to the State Dept. or some other place. I had not heard the fight lasted 7 hours. Thought the four were killed pretty early on. Will we ever get a straight story? Feel sorry for the families. Anyone know wher the bodies were sent for burial? Smith's mother didn't know.

The Obama administration’s sudden plunge into scandal territory has two aspects — the actual and the political. The first, and most important, has to do with what actually happened. Why did the administration promulgate a false account of the terror attack on Benghazi? Why did the Internal Revenue Service target conservative groups for special scrutiny? Why did the Justice Department act in an unprecedented fashion toward The Associated Press for publishing details of a foiled terror plot the White House was planning to discuss openly the next day?

The birthday party will be modest and understated, in keeping with the man. Sir Nicholas Winton is 104 tomorrow and naturally some of his children will be there to wish him well. Not only his blood offspring but those known as Winton’s Children – the ones he saved from near-certain death three-quarters of a century ago. Nicholas – Nicky – Winton hates to be thought of as a hero, hates being compared with Oskar Schindler or Raoul Wallenberg, but he nevertheless deserves to be mentioned in the same breath.

Speaking at Ohio State University earlier this month, Barack Obama urged students to pay no attention to those paranoid types who “incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity.” Oddly enough, in recent days the most compelling testimony for this view of government has come from the president himself, who insists with a straight face that he had no idea that the Internal Revenue Service had spent two years targeting his political enemies until he

Two Metro-North trains collided in Connecticut during the evening rush hour tonight, causing at least two dozen injuries and massive delays on the New Haven Line, authorities said. The accident happened about 6:10 p.m. just east of the Bridgeport-Fairfield line when a westbound train from New Haven derailed and collided with an eastbound train on a section of track near a viaduct that is under renovation. Photos on the Connecticut Post´s website showed people being taken on stretchers to waiting ambulances, and first responders from Fairfield, Bridgeport and nearby

The punditocracy is pulling out its collective hair, wanting to know why there have apparently been multiple layers of cover-ups in the evolving Benghazi story. An early scandal from the Clinton administration, the so-called “Travelgate” scandal, may be instructive. Recall that in the 1993 firings of employees at the White House Travel Office, a determination was made early on by the new president Bill Clinton and then-First Lady Hillary Clinton that the Travel Office workers, who served at the pleasure of the president,

The tragedy of Benghazi, where a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed, seemed a cut-and-dried story in the days after a mob attacked the State Department’s mission in eastern Libya. From President Obama on down, the recap was simple: A crowd of demonstrators angry over an obscure YouTube video that denigrated Islam’s Prophet Muhammad spontaneously stormed the complex. The State Department’s top spokeswoman assured the public that security for fallen Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and his aide Sean Smith was “robust.”

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
