DNC host has
sales job ahead to
pay $10 million in debt

Charlotte Observer (NC), by Jim Morrill

How do you pay the bills when the party’s over and the guests have gone? Democratic National Convention organizers are about to find out. After struggling for more than a year to raise money – and ultimately coming up short – they face $10 million in debts and unpaid obligations, according to reports filed this week with the Federal Election Commission.

Comments:
Many of us in Charlotte predicted the DNC would be a disaster for our city--and that we, the taxpayers, would be left with a massive debt.

Democrats attacked corporations--and said they didn't want them, but later changed to rules--and corporations still stayed away!

Running their party the way they run this country...into the ground.

This is all turning out so much better than I thought when I prayed this lot would meet with some measure of justice for us, judgement for them.

If the Jackass Party has one talent that is consistent, it's spending money that they don't have. No wonder the White House e-mails keep flowing and begging for a few dollars from each and every dolt out there silly enough to send it.

Now what's this about people not contributing their fair share? This is like tax evasion. [Raise eyebrows and look at obama].

In other words, creditors in Charlotte are about to get stiffed by the dems to the tune of about $10 million.

How else? Borrow it from China!

The creditors of Charlotte should band together and sue the DNC into insolvency. Might not be as pleasing as beating them at the ballot box, but it gets the job done. And, in a matter of a few weeks, we should have an Attorney General who will back them up.

This is one way to carry a swing state. Or is the swing state carrying them? Debbie WS is confused about the business terminology.

Why do some lessons never get learned? A democrat candidate is about 10 times more likely to stiff the business that sold him on credit than a republican. That from a trade magazine about 30 years ago. Indeed, one shop I worked for found itself stiffed by a loosing D, who just happened to be Mormon. A call was made to the local Mormon Church and the debt was eventually cleared up.

Smart businessmen get paid up front from any politician, unless you want to consider your labors a political donation.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - A local church has elected to stop performing marriage ceremonies for straight couples until same-sex marriage is legalized. (snip) “Because the United Methodist Church prohibits its pastors from conducting same-sex weddings, excluding gay and lesbian couples from the holy sacrament of marriage, the Leadership Council has asked the pastor to refrain from conducting wedding ceremonies in our sanctuary for straight couples, until the denomination lifts its ban for same-sex couples.”

Bank of America has reportedly frozen the account of gun manufacturer American Spirit Arms, according to its owner, Joe Sirochman. In a Facebook post dated December 29, Sirochman wrote the following: “My name is Joe Sirochman owner of American Spirit Arms...our Web site orders have jumped 500 percent causing our Web site e-commerce processing larger deposits to Bank of America. So they decided to hold the deposits for further review. “After countless hours on the phone with Bank of America, I finally got a manager in the right department that told me the reason that the deposits were on hold

RALEIGH It took less than 10 minutes Saturday for Republican Pat McCrory to complete a journey he’d started years ago, from Charlotte City Hall to North Carolina’s governor’s mansion. With his left hand on two bibles, McCrory took the oath of office as the state’s 74th governor in a ceremony long on pomp but short in duration.

RALEIGH -- Republican Pat McCrory became North Carolina’s 74th governor Saturday in a brief, simple ceremony that nevertheless marked a major shift in political power in the state. It took only several minutes for McCrory, a 56-year year old former Charlotte mayor and former utility executive, to take the oath of office in the old Senate Chambers in the historic Capitol. The parade, balls, inaugural address and other celebrations surrounding a new governor will occur over the next week.

Argentine lawmakers approved a bill lowering the country’s voting age, a move that could rally youth support as President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner tries to revert a slide in her popularity ahead of congressional elections next year. The lower house approved the bill in a 131-to-2 vote yesterday, converting Argentina into one of only a handful of nations where 16-year-olds can vote. The government-backed bill, which passed the Senate in early October, allows young people to cast ballots two years before voting becomes mandatory at age 18.

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care?
