A bristling Barack Obama went on a relentless attack in the second presidential debate, but his rival Mitt Romney gave no ground as the two men clashed repeatedly during angry and at times electric exchanges on Tuesday night. Clearly arriving with a different game plan after his lacklustre performance in Denver two weeks ago, Obama assailed Romney on his tax rate, his tax plan, his stance on the auto bailout, women’s rights and his plans to stand up to China. And this time he didn’t shy away from personal assaults on Romney’s wealth, his record at Bain
Comments: The intervention by Crowley, siding with Obama on whether or not he referred to the Benghazi attack as a terrorist attack, had to have been arranged beforehand or, at the very least, anticipated by Crowley. It was just too pat. Even if it wasn't, she should not have stood in his corner. The Telegraph was quick to point out at the end of the debate that Crowley afforded Obama more time than Romney.
When pressed on who and why more security was withheld from the Benghazi consulate after repeated requests, the President got all indignant about Romney politicizing the tragedy. Then, without breaking a sweat, Obama brags about how he killed Osama Bin Laden (surely that's not political s/o).
Worse yet, Obama is bragging that the tireless action of countless intelligence officials, the military and especially Seal Team 6 don't count; that Obama gets all the credit personally. He claims credit for the deeds of others.
In stark and quiet contrast, Romney has countless personal acts of charity and humanitarianism that he actually did do, and never, ever discusses them, for he does these acts not for personal glory. If Obama gave to charity, he would undoubtedly keep reminding us. Obama may soon brag about the Girl Scout cookies he once bought.
The good ship 0bama hit an iceberg about two weeks ago, the whole side is ripped open, it has lost it's momentum, and it is going down slowly. Things will get much uglier before it settles on the bottom. By next week, the left will see that nothing can save the ship or the captain.
Three weeks until the election. The end of the 0bama's tyranny is in sight!
Obama is more in his element when engaging a sympathetic mob...uh, town hall audience....sorry. I'll be curious to see how he does in the last debate when the format is supposed to be the same as the first.
Obama is all about perception. But perception is not reality and that is where Obama fails. Notice what all the taking heads are saying; nothing about the substance of what Obama says, just how "HE'S BACK", how well he fought, and using terms like "jugular" "firey" and "turned around his ailing campaign" (words from the title of this article). If Obama gained ground, he did so because Romney blew past a couple of barn-door wide opportunities and failed to capitalize on them. Obama has nothing to make this country better, period. Obama is a small man with no character and a perverted ideology on how to run a country. His government was and always will be about Chicago croney politics, nothing more.
It's a shame Obama is not as aggressive with Americas enemies. I am praying that Mitt asks him what he meant when he told the Russians that he would be more flexible after the election. I thought it was treasonous then and I still think it is treasonous.
I gave this one an hour before I bailed out for the Yankees game. He did just what I expected - more energized and aggresive, but ugly, negative, pompous, arrogant, dishonest. I will give Barry credit for finally producing something shovel ready, because he was shovelling it deep last night. The questions from the bimbo undecided were inane, and the Phat Candy tag teaming with Barry was par for the course. May she never be allowed to moderate another debate again. Credit Mitt for holding his own against this nonsense.
Well, I saw the Islam ring was pointedly visible again. I watched Mitt do a great job about his economic plan. I laughed as Obama scurried off back to his stool when Mitt confrontd him about his turn to speak, making Obama look like a wimp(perception). I listened to Mitt make a great argument as to why he is not like Bush. He made Obama look little and silly. Great job Mr. Romney.
Crowley didn’t disappoint with her partisan performance and choice of audience questions. All thorugh the interview I couldn’t take my eyes off those huge scars on the left side of Obama’s head. I kept wishing Romney would say, “By the way, Mr. President, where did you (or Bari Shabbaz) get those scars?”
OP--I thought the same thing (that Crowley's intervention was prepared beforehand). Right after Crowley defending Obama's lie, the television camera went to crowd-shot. Michelle Obama, herself, was leading the instant applause.
First came LIE after LIE after LIE - then Bamster's whiney voice, his scatterbrained logic, his recollections from years on the teleprompter and finally the flashes of bitter anger followed immediately with a broad evil smile.
Right #13. I was on the lookout for that ring but was not watching on a hd tv-could not discern. The camera team must have known the story, b/c whenever they framed Obama in the camera, with ring prevalent, they quickly changed shots/cameras so no time to analyze. Obama never carried the microphone in his left hand, which would have made his ring hand easier to see.
Did anyone hear the audience seem to gasp when Obama was talking about the price of gas? When he said, "we aren't going back to that....era"? He said the reason gas was low under Bush was b/c of the lousy economy! Ha! I'm sure the Saudi Royal family has nothing to do with it! Kickbacks couldn't possibly be the reason it's high. /s off.
When asked about F&F, Obama threw a herring about Romney voting for/not some gun law, then changed the subject to education.
Turn around Obama's ailing campaign? This debate confirmed again what any reasonably prudent man or woman, who has been paying attention the last six-years, has known all along.......Barry is simply an undocumented, dishonest, petty, professional street agitator who has never held a regular job in the real world and doesn't have a clue!
CNN had a poll that asked if undecided viewers changed their minds about whom to vote for after the debate. 25% moved to Obama, 25% moved to Romney, and the rest were unmoved. Obama only slowed his decent.
Romney missed so many opportunities though. I was hoping to hear him mention all the failed green energy plants that wasted tax payer money. WE have heard the same talking points now for every debate. The last debate he must hone in on the juglar. Repeat as necessary, wasted money, emtpy chair foreign policy, lies on Lybia.
NerØbama obviously had similar debate prep to what Biden had, with similar effect. Watching him simply reminded me of Uncle Joe.
Yes, there were missed opportunities and unforced errors on both sides, as well as a bad call by a corrupt "referee". Unlike a sporting event, however, the "game" didn't end when the clock ran out. Victory or defeat will be determined not by points and rules, but by the credibility of the candidates. That process continues through NOvember 6th.
I find it truly disturbing that anyone reviewing this administration's record for the past four years, and who has true love for this country would even consider voting for this affirmative action president.
Why was Benghazi held till the end of the debate? So Poison Candy could step in and declare the debate over if things got out of hand. If you don't see an Axelrod/Crowley inter connect here look me up to sell you a bridge.
However, while people talk about Crowley and Libya and the WSJ editorializes about Obama not having a plan, everyone seems to have misssed what I believe was the most important statement of the night, made by Obama during his closing. Obama again stated that everyone is "entitled to their fair share."
NO, we are NOT. Neither America nor Christianity has ever been about guaranteeing outcomes. Neither America nor Christianity has ever been about making sure everyone gets the same size piece of the pie. No one is ENTITLED to a FAIR SHARE. That's socialism.
And if the Wall Street Journal's editorial writers want to know what Obama's plan is, they need look no further than that statement to divine it. It says all you need to know about his ideology and his intentions.
The wife and I were out last night, so we missed most of the debate, but did get home in time to see the last part about Libya. I simply couldn't believe my ears when Obozo said that he did call the attackers "terrorists" and was even more astounded when the fat lady jumped in to back him up. Do these people really believe that we can't simply call up the speech and read it for ourselves? And I was disappointed when Romney didn't come back and state exactly what Obozo did say.
Overall, the portion that I did see, Romney was capable and did a good job. But, as I read the morning headlines, the whole thing is being reported as I expected. If you are a Dims, Obozo hit one out of the park (he didn't) and if you are a Republican, then Romney came out on top. As many of us here at LCom, I will wait until Nov. 6 (or 7th) to see how the majority view all of this.
Lastly, here's praying the Mitt CAN slam one out of the park next Monday.
Gov. Romney pointed out all of Obamas broken promises and the true condition of the economy under Obamas watch. Same was devastating at the least. Obama just sang the same old out of tune songs,so to speak.
Obama was a racist!! When speaking of illegal immigrants with criminal records, he threw out the "gang banger" phrase. Racist! Doesn't he know that Hispanics and Blacks think that phrase is code for them? I think he should apologize immediately!! s/
I was happy to see the Luntz focus groups see all the wonderful potential in Romney after the debate. Unlike the owners of "0bama phones," all these people who possess these FREE phones used them to Tweet they want to kill Romney, because they might lose their Food Stamps and Free Phones. How sick has this society become?
With Obama, what you see is what you get. His promises? We know now he will not keep them. His opinions? We know now that he makes them up. His own history? It's the fault of Bush. Jobs? The fault is in the rascally Republicans. Energy? we must believe in his vision, despite his manifest ability to see nothing. Petulant, whining, constantly tugging on the skirt of the moderator, cannot hold his own, running on an empty record. What a waste of egg and sperm!
Should be the permanent end of affirmative action.
And, by the way, blame Bush. And the typhoon. And the Euro crisis. And those nice Muslims who refuse to believe that he is a nice guy. And those intelligence folks at State who messed everything up. And any other straw man he can think of. Excuse me. I mean, that his advisors can think of, since he doesn't think (he is so smart he does not need to think).
FTA: “And Obama even suggested that his rival would lower gas prices only by taking the economy to 'the verge of collapse'.”
0-bama actually stated the reason gas prices were $1.86 when he took office was because the economy was so terrible. He then elaborated that gas prices are high now because he has expanded oil and gas production and the economy is recovering.
So to 0-bama high prices = good economy, low prices = economic crisis. No one in the audience laughed at this absurd economically illiterate notion.
The nastiness in the man comes out. He has absolutely nothing to run on so he gets into a snit and disrespects everything and everyone. Yea, we need to give this bad actor another 4 years...yea, right! Oh, he lies about almost everything.......
Last night I go this feeling that Romney's eyes have been opened and he is no longer fighting for an election but rather fighting for justice and righteousness. It's flipped from a competition in his eyes to a battle against evil - I think he really gets it now and that steel jaw against Obama is real.
I'm personally more encouraged than ever before about the right man in the right place at the right time - can you imagine if we had a 'politician' in there fighting for us right now?
#3 nails it. Mitt Romney had to debate two opponents last night, and he did pretty darned well.
Candy Crowley disgraced herself with her "correction" of Gov. Romney's statement about Libya with that ridiculous bit about Obama's Sept. 12 announcement in the Rose Garden when Obama actually used the word "terror." (No matter that the entire administration lied for weeks thereafter about what happened in Libya.)
Ms. Crowley telling Gov. Romney to sit down was crass and rude.
Look, Obama's entire campaign is premised on calling Romney names and trashing sound business oriented proposals that Romney has made to get the economy back on track and create millions of new jobs. Obama has no economic plan of his own that he can speak of, other then borrowing money from China and then spending it, thus further ramping up the deficit.
Obama has perfected rhetoric designed to make his socialist oriented policies look seemingly reasonable to the uninformed, but anyone with a brain and an education has figured out that socialism, no matter how Obama describes it, in terms of "fairness" and "giving everybody an equal shot" has never worked anyplace where it has been tried, because the socialists have failed to answer the question, what do they do when they run out of everyone else's money?
#49 that man( stupid 18 year old) may have plotted to blow up the NY fed bank but the Obama was the first target addition is merely a quick wag the dog ploy to gain sympathy for an endangered Obe. Poor dog may become lunch if it doesn't work..
All the interactions between Blubbing Barri and his Dear block-and-tackle Mummy, the questions, the Michelle outburst, the handy-dandy Rose Garden transcript all point to the fact that they had the entire bit 'wired'.
Canada Post will phase out home delivery in urban areas over the next five years as the postal service struggles to rein in persistent losses. Under a five-year plan released on Wednesday, the cost of stamps will also rise and as many as 8,000 jobs will be eliminated. But the agency says it will also open more retail locations across Canada. The service faces a projected 1bn Canadian dollar ($943m; £576m) loss by 2020 without "fundamental changes". Canada Post lost C$73m in the third quarter of the current fiscal year, CBC News reported.

The US and Britain have suspended all non-lethal assistance in to northern Syria after forces from the new Islamic Front seized headquarters and warehouses belonging to the opposition’s Supreme Military Council. Fighters from the Front, a union of six major rebel groups, took control of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) bases at the Bab al-Hawa crossing on Syria’s northwestern border with Turkey late on Friday. Turkey shut its side of the border crossing, in Hatay province, due to a reported increase in clashes on the Syrian side, customs sources told the Reuters news agency. There was no immediate confirmation from
There’s a YouTube clip I can’t stop watching called “Margaret Thatcher don’t want to jump”. The then Prime Minister has just reached the end of a TV interview, and the presenter is asking her to “make a little jump”. “Why?” It’s “just a gimmick” that all her guests do. Thatcher raises an eyebrow. “I bet that you wouldn’t do it,” says the presenter, becoming at the same time conciliatory, wheedling, insistent. “Just a little jump.” Come on. “Gorbachev did it.” “But what”, inquires the Iron Lady icily, “is the point of it?” “It just shows another side
NHS patients will benefit from a new brain scan that can help doctors confirm or rule out a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. David Cameron will announce tomorrow that Britain will be the first place in the world where the revolutionary technique will be available for free. The test will mean that, for the first time, doctors will be able to definitively rule out Alzheimer’s in some patients for five years. Currently, one in five cases of the disease is misdiagnosed. It could also help doctors to confirm an existing diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, ensuring people get the treatment they need.
Barack Obama is facing poll numbers that are now in the same territory as President George W. Bush´s following Hurricane Katrina. The Quinnipiac University Polling Institute released numbers on Tuesday showing that just 38 percent of registered voters approve of the job Obama is doing as president, with a whopping 56 percent saying they disapprove. The president has lost his landslide electoral edge among young voters, too, with a negative 41–49 percent rating among 18- to 29-year-old voters. His once formidable support among Hispanics has also evaporated: They now support him by an historically small 50–43 percent margin.
Secretary of State John Kerry boasted in a congressional hearing on Tuesday that a recent nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran will make America ´more secure than the day before we entered this agreement.´ [Snip] But ´this agreement halts the progress of Iran´s nuclear program--Halts the program!´ he boasted. ´Iran´s nuclear program will not move forward. Under this agreement, Iran will have to neutralize--end!--its entire supply of 20 percent-enriched uranium, which you know is a short step away from weapons-grade uranium.´ ´Iran will forfeit all--not part--all of that 20 percent [enriched material], that 200-kilogram stockpile. Gone!´
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
