Never Count a Clinton Out
Townhall, by Carol Platt Liebau

Oh, my, this is priceless. From Peru, Hillary Clinton has "taken responsibility" for Benghazi. No doubt, on its face, the act would seem to be a heroic effort to take the heat off the President and Vice President as the election nears. But with the Clintons, nothing is ever as it seems. Keep in mind that: She did this the night before a real make-or-break debate for the President; By doing it she made Obama and Biden look small and cowardly for seeking to throw her under the bus, thereby elevating her stature while diminishing theirs; She did nothing to

Comments:
That's Liebau's evaluation. We'll know Tuesday before, during and after the debate if the press whores are going to go after 0bama on this still or will totally switch to Hillary who is conveniently hiding in South America. If Hillary IS doing this for herself then I expect to hear another comment from her soon on the line of ''But wait, there's more.''

"She raised the question -- which now may be put to Obama -- of whether she should be fired. If she is asked, of course she may answer demurely that she serves at the pleasure of the President. In any case, he is now hamstrung; if he answers "yes," she should be fired, he infuriates a lot of Dems -- and potentially a lot of women, but if he answers "no," he risks seeming insufficiently upset about what happened to the ".

The poisoned chalice ploy? Wishful thinking? Too clever by half?

Ife Hillary has set a trap I hope it works. Not for her sake but because anything that costs Obama votes is fine with me.

This really does make Obama look like a coward for not accepting responsibility for it.Obama continued to spew the video line long after it was known it was a terror attack.
If these people ever told the truth about anything, you wouldn't recognize who they are.Obama has no respect at all for anybody that gives their life for their country."Somebody died? Oh,I'd better get to that fundraiser"

By throwing herself on the sword for Obama,,Hilldawg has built up some creds for 2016.There had to be some kind of deal cut,the Clintons don't do anything without a price.

The Clintons and Obamas are plagues on this country that will never go away.

...Hillary has made it well known that she was leaving after this term...

...we may well be watching a game of "political chess" going on. The Benghazi story is just starting to boil and this move will perk up tomorrow's debate, keep the story growing as we hit the last debate next week...

...0bama is gone, the question is which move is the checkmate?...

You have to hand it to the Clintons, no matter how grudgingly. This is diabolically clever on several levels. On the surface level, it creates a nod of admiration for the acceptance of responsibility and invites immediate comparison to "him who never accepts blame". Beyond this initial reaction, one realizes that this is a case where the acceptance of responsibility won't have any consequences. For you chess players, think of it as a "poison pawn sacrifice". In other words, if Obama accepts it (actually, whether he fires her or not) it's deadly for him.

At a deeper level, even if you conclude that Hillary is the primary person at fault, it invites the question, "Mr. President, how could you NOT be aware of such a major decision by your Secretary of State, and once you were made aware, how could you not take appropriate action or even personally correct the record?"

This is at least "discovered check" if not imminent checkmate of the black king by the white queen.

This is a poor strategy. It does not account for all of the conflicting lies and coverups after the fact. Those are the work of the pResident and many others, all part of the 0bama administration.

Romney will not back off of the complete failure of the pResident's foreign policy. Hellary's confession is a good start, but does not change the situation. We need more confessions, prosecution, and incarceration.

Oh, so just Hillary was lying, taking Barry with her.
Right, ok then.

So, um, no one else called the White House? Barry was simply photoshopped into the picture, innocent as a lamb? And as dumb, apparently because he obviously didn't ask any questions or delve into it himself.

Just stood up there and parroted the lines he'd been given. Like a complete moron with no critical thinking skills?

Wait. Never mind.

I cannot get out of my head that video of her standing with Obama next to those caskets and they are both STILL blaming that video. I feel very sorry for Ambassador Stevens' Dad but we are not going to stop talking about this until the day of President Romney's inaugeration.

Hillary War Room: It’s Whose Party?

HILLARY: Yeah, I took one for the team on Benghazi, or so it seems.
BILL: Starting now, we work to see Zero thrashed by Romney. Obama loses, the Party turns to Hillary for salvation in 2016.
PAUL BEGALA: Obama will know what you’re doing, Eminence. Suppose he asks you to resign?
HILLARY: I will remain Secretary of Stasis. It’s about a woman’s right to choose. The decision to resign is between me and my spin doctor.
JAMES CARVILLE: So, how will you undercut The Chosen, M'Lady?
HILLARY: By dropping the mask of neutrality and, uh, speaking out for him. I’ll commend his Muslim roots, his resolve to take out terrorists even if it means obliterating their families, his “Buy American” initiative encouraging drug cartels to shop here for their arms needs.
BILL: Reverend Al sees the writing on the wall and is joining us.
SHARPTON: As the inimical Popeye might say, resist we musk, or the foul ordure of the Obama regime will Kaiser Permeate the very fabric of our national travesty the Geek Fakes are weaving as we speak.
HILLARY: Well said, Al.
BEGALA: How do we neutralize Oprah, My Liege?
CARVILLE: My grandma would cut off the ends, sprinkle salt over the slices, put ‘em in a pan with possum innards, then. . . .
BEGALA: Oprah, not okra, Jimbo.
SANDY BERGER: Your magnitude, suppose I sneak into Obama reelection headquarters and stuff a copy of his campaign plan down my jockeys. If his people catch me and ask what’s in my pants, I’ll just say I’m glad to see them.
BILL: Good ‘un. San. . . .
HILLARY: Shuddup, Bill. Who let Berger in here?

This is a good move for a person who has her political future at stake. Im sure the clintoon machine has been working overtime to figure this out so she looks good. What has she admitted to that everyone doesnt already know? Of course she is responsible for State Deptartment, but the security "officials" made the decision. Notice she doesnt really accept that she made any decisions. So she hasnt done anything but state the obvious. This is only gonna put pressure on O to answer about the lie about the video.. "Fog of war" is not gonna cut it. People died here. It wasnt like they said they didnt know what happened.. the told us for days what caused it. That is the question I want answered. By our president. time to buck up, O

Hillary Clinton IS Obama's foreign policy. Hillary IS the "light footprint", as Barack has never pretended foreign policy interest, other than hating Jews, unionizing workers around the globe and our military.

Indications are that Hillary accepted the spot at State ONLY if it came with plenty of power and powerful MEN under her to do the heavy lifting, the real negotiations, with our enemies, and with Israel. Then comes George Mitchell and the guy who died from a massive heart attack. What is his name?

Hillary was plenty casual in taking responsibility, sitting down, in a casual interview, out of country, STILL blaming intellegence without naming a single community that had posited the early fiction SHE ran with, passed to the White House, and hammered for 11 days herself.

Romney need only ask "Does Hillary's statement absolve you of blame?" And then be ready with the numerous quotes wherin Obama and other Dems demand GWB be held personally responsible for every mishap over the 8 years he served. Then just ask why we should expect Bush to man up but not him.

That should do it.

What if this attack in Benghazi was a planned attack by the Obama people with the intent of having the Ambassador and/or some of his staff taken hostage? Then Obama sends in our troops right before the election and rescues them. How else to explain the scaled down security there? Just like Fast and Furious was a plan to lay the groundwork to take away our 2nd Amendment rights. Maybe both plans failed big time. I know it is more than a little tin foil hat time, but I wouldn't put anything past Obama.

The media is still in Obama's corner. It wouldn't matter what Hillary said, or anyone else. They heard someone else take the blame and that takes Obama off the hook as far as they are concerned. As far as the media Benghazi has nothing to do with Obama anymore. Probably happened because Romney didn't release enough taxes. Fog of war, my back end! How could everyone else see it was terrorism right out of the gate except for the Whitehouse? Their in a fog alright, but probably from the stuff their smoking

I just posted a similar sentiment.
Biden really screwed the narrative during the VP debate, and Obama really needs to not have this hanging over his head tonight and next week.

What he doesn't understand is that nobody believes this because you can see the lies throughout. Biden alienating women wasn't bad enough - PUMAs will now sit on their hands and won't vote.

#31, it's what Hillary does and possibly why she was caught flat footed on Benghazi. I know a woman who works at State who raved about Hillary to me one day because Hillary was busy getting promotions for women who work there, unlike the male Secstates. I pointed out that it wasn't Hillary's job to be doing that but the woman didn't care.

So, Hillary Clinton has "has taken responsibility" for Benghazi without assuming "full responsibility". Hmm... She's a lawyer, Bill's a lawyer, everybody is a lawyer. Obviously it will boil down to dissecting the term "responsibility". She's no fool. She's confident that she would not be held truly responsible.

Re #33, That's been my theory all along, and I think some of Libyan factions were in on it. The political benefit for Obama and his Libyan partners would have been huge. Obama covers himself with glory for successfully thwarting a terrorist attack and the Libyans get more help consolidating their power and diminishing or eliminating that of their rivals.

It would explain alot of things such as the reduction in security despite the known threat, the transfer of what security there was to Libyan nationals, and why Zippy didn't care and went out partying even as the attack was in progress. If things went according to plan, not only would he get credit for the "rescue" but the media would praising him ceaselessly for his "coolness under pressure".

I think what they didn't count on though was the off duty ex-SEALS coming in and making a real fight of it. Or perhaps they simply underestimated the extent to which their Libyan partner's were infiltrated by Al Queda, who didn't stick to the script because they simply want to kill Americans.

Blaming the video, which had been around for months with nobody paying any attention to it, was the back up plan, which Obama immediately went to after he got word that things went wrong. Zippy was no doubt supremely confident that the media would once again accept his story at face value and not ask any too many questions. But in this case he just couldn't pull it off. The media tried to play their part by immediately attacking Romney and tried to keep the focus on his supposed "terrible gaffe" but the images of the mutilation and death of the Ambassador were just to powerful for the media to keep buried.

The devil in the woodpile is not to be forgotten. Hill took responsibility in a political fashion. (If she had actually taken responsibility she would have resigned or been fired. So it's just politics.) But the devil that is being overlooked is the IC. Hill threw the IC under the bus when she took 'responsibility'.
Any deal has to be made there or the wheels will come off before the election. Maybe that's why we haven't heard from Gen. Betrayus? But it would have to include more that just the CIA.
There's more to come.

At this minute, the pressure is on the US military to track down (before the election!) and kill the extreme camel-likers who murdered the Americans in Benghazi, Libya. Zero and Hildebeast, who finally 'protected' our four brave Americans with US Marines - at the brief service over their coffins at Dover, DE - are a disgrace.

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

CNN’s Peter Hamby reported that Mitt Romney‘s internal polling showed President Obama leading in Ohio by five percentage points.Per Hamby’s post: The number represented a sharp final bump for Obama in Ohio, a race that had essentially been a tied race through much of the previous week, according to the campaign’s daily tracking. The polling, which also showed a tight race in Pennsylvania, explains why Romney officials decided to send their candidate on last-minute Election Day visits to Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

The Obama and Romney campaigns may be gearing up for a very late night, with one Obama campaign adviser predicting that in Florida alone, "they'll be counting until 2 a.m." The Obama adviser said signs suggest the race is quite tight, though the campaign claimed to be "holding strong" in key battlegrounds like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The adviser also said turnout among black voters in Virginia was better than expected, suggesting that could be a problem for Mitt Romney. Republican operatives in Virginia, though, predicted a razor-thin victory for their candidate in the state.

Washington - Early returns on Tuesday in what is anticipated to be a dead even presidential election contained no surprises, as CNN projected President Barack Obama will win his home state of Illinois and eight other races while Republican challenger Mitt Romney will win nine states. All races called so far went as expected after the roller-coaster ride of an election campaign that was buffeted by a superstorm and missteps on both sides. Obama and Romney ran dead even in final polls that hinted at a result rivaling some of the closest presidential elections in history, reflecting the deep political

A week after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, a majority of voters said President Barack Obama’s response to the crisis wasn’t a factor in their vote, according to early exit polls. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed, per CBS News’ early exit polling released by radio station WKZO in Kalamazoo, Mich., said Obama’s handling of the storm was a minor factor in their vote or wasn’t a factor at all. Twenty-six percent named Sandy as an “important” factor, and 15 percent said it was the “most important” factor in their decision.

Mitt Romney is leading among independents in both Ohio and Virginia, early exit polls show. In Ohio, the former Massachusetts governor takes 56 percent of self-identified independents, compared with 40 percent for President Barack Obama. That’s a huge decrease for Obama from 2008, when the exit polls found him winning independents in Ohio by 12 points, 52 percent to 44 percent for John McCain. The numbers are similar but slightly tighter in Virginia: Romney takes 53 percent of independents there, according to ABC News exit polls, a 12-point lead over Obama. In 2008, Obama won independents in the state by

Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively
