Swing States poll: Women
push Romney into lead

USA Today, by Susan Page

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney leads President Obama by five percentage points among likely voters in the nation's top battlegrounds, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, and he has growing enthusiasm among women to thank. As the presidential campaign heads into its final weeks, the survey of voters in 12 crucial swing states finds female voters much more engaged in the election and increasingly concerned about the deficit and debt issues that favor Romney. The Republican nominee now ties the president among women who are likely voters, 48%-48%, while he leads by 12 points among men.

Comments:
So it would seem that the contrived, condescending and insulting "War on Women" ploy hasn't worked as Team 0bama had planned. Sorry Barry, but real liberated women do not vote democRAT.

VP Ryan played well with the ladies in his debate with Biden.

All of the BS from the left about the war on women has resulted in this. Women are not stupid, they know we can not sustain this debt and spending. It is not enough that Barry is a narcissist who thinks he is eye candy. His best "view" will be when he is gone from the limelight!

President Zero has lost, 5-10% of women, Catholics, Jews and Independents. He's even lost 2-5% of blacks and Hispanics. Sounds like a losing combination to me.

With all these separate snippets of Romney picking up support among groups where once 0bama led by a wide margin how can some polls still be forecasting that 0bama is even close?

My experience with women is that security trumps all. The last four years has shaken the economic foundations of too many women, especially those with families. And I agree with #2 - abortion is beginning to rot as an issue.

The Progressives have tried to "weaponize" women on the Conservatives.

Looks like it has blown up in their faces!

Well, I guess Zippy's "war against women" tactic didn't work after all.

They tried the "war on women" when they tried to recall Scott Walker. EPIC FAIL !! Even leftys thought it was lame.

HEY! Vote like your girl parts depend on it. Yeah, that's a winner.

Good rational reasons aside (security, etc.), I can tell you that as a woman, I am seriously crazy about Romney. He is just generally ideal as a man, to me. Good looks, and more importantly, someone we can trust in every way. That is not that easy to find these days, so I think that may explain a lot of his appeal to women. And I have a feeling it's going around and that there are plenty of nonpolitical or nonconservative women who feel the same way - just enough I hope.

So much for the Dems "War on Women" meme.

Pfffffft.

Who knew!
Security, safety, jobs, God and a free America really matter to women ... the ones who care about protecting this country for their children ... the ones who cherish the family unit ... the ones who want to keep their family doctors, their jobs and traditional celebrations like Christmas.

Sandra Fluke and the Vagina Crowd will be heartbroken!

He's way ahead with white women and WAAAAY ahead with married women. The ONLY woman segment Romney doesn't have is single women.

Reply 15 - Posted by: Susannah, 10/15/2012 5:19:49 PM     (No. 8935393)

The notion that single women--whether they're widows, divorcees, or never married--automatically vote for a daddy president who'll "provide" for them is totally spurious.

This is very interesting. I think Biden played very poorly with women in his debate performance. I think his dismissive demeanor and interruptions reminded many women of certain obnoxious men they have worked with. Romney and Ryan, on the other hand, exude class and thus play well with women.

Reply 17 - Posted by: God of Irony, 10/15/2012 6:23:39 PM     (No. 8935521)

I think what is being missed in these polls is the apathy among those who voted for the first time because they wanted to vote for a black man. I ibet a good majority of those are now disillusioned and will stay home.

BUFFALO — A western New York man has pleaded guilty to filing more than 100 tax returns under the names of people who had recently died. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Buffalo says 42-year-old John Berry Jr. of Dunkirk pleaded guilty Tuesday to making a false claim against the United States. Prosecutors say he filed 122 false income tax returns in 2008 and 2009 seeking refunds totaling $218,000. Authorities say more than $92,000 was deposited directly into his bank account. Berry faces up to five years in prison when he’s sentenced in August.

Two Republican governors are urging President Barack Obama to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Internal Revenue Service´s admission that it targeted conservative political groups. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker call the allegations "Big Brother come to life." They want a special prosecutor to find out if any laws were broken and say Obama should fire any IRS employees responsible for the situation. The IRS has apologized for what it calls "inappropriate" targeting of conservative political groups. The agency targeted groups during the 2010 congressional elections and the 2012 presidential election.

In recent weeks, scandal after scandal has rocked Barack Obama’s administration. His presidency might be imperiled. Or it might not be.(snip)Doubtless, Obama did not want for any of these scandals to come to light. Now that they’ve arisen, though, they can be exploited to depict himself as a Washington outsider and his Republican nemeses as “the establishment” that has vowed to destroy him. Potentially, this strategy trades off short-term loss for long-term gain. Again, Alinsky is instructive here: “If by losing in a certain action” the organizer “can get more members than by winning

America should end its intervention in Syria or shift its support to President Bashir Assad. Iraq-based al Qaeda militants now control the rebellion. He is a grotesque savage, determined to compel acceptance of radical Islam through religious courts and executions.(snip)U.S. military intervention ended badly in Libya. Our ambassador was killed, and 20,000 Libyan anti-aircraft missiles went missing; they may still be in rebel hands. If al Qaeda topples Syria, they will capture large stocks of chemical weapons

The Obama administration has an enemies list, and John Dodson was on it. The special agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) infuriated his superiors by alerting Congress and everyone else about the government’s gunrunning scheme called Fast and Furious. He had to pay for his act of good citizenship. The Justice Department’s inspector general concluded Monday that a high-ranking political appointee destroyed Mr. Dodson’s credibility and ruined a career. Former Rep. The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
