| The US health system and the NHS have much to learn from each other, experts say. The academics - from Harvard University in the US and the UK-based Nuffield Trust think tank - suggested the two systems should share ideas as they were both going through major reforms. Their Lancet review acknowledged there were a lot of differences. But in terms of finance, organisation and IT there was also some common ground they could learn from, it added. Perhaps they could share why many of their patients die from dehydration and starvation?

The NHS certainly can share ideas.. here's a doozy: make the people wait months for their appointments.
"A check on 50 hospitals, half the major trusts, found 27 had at least 100 outpatients waiting more than 26 weeks for a first appointment. An estimated 9,000 patients had to be seen last month because they had been waiting longer than 26 weeks. One hospital had more than 1,000 waiting for an outpatient appointment."

To the BBC: No thanks. But here are some tidbits:
1. Give your elderly patients water without them having to beg you for it or set schedules to remind the nurses to do that.
2. Don't kill your elderly without notifying the family first. Better yet, don't kill your elderly.
3. Please share your birth rate with your UK women. You guys will be more like the Middle East and North Africa if you don't give abortion a rest.
4. Your NHS is eating your nation slowly. When are you going to realize that?

Patrick Pullicino, a consultant neurologist and professor of clinical neurosciences at the University of Kent, says that the NHS is prematurely ending the lives of as many as 130,000 elderly patients every year.
That's via starvation/dehydration.
Lots of times they don't even tell the families until Mama's in embalming.
Please, God, let us escape this doom.

#7, If you extrapolate 130,000 allowed to die in a country the size of Great Britain to a country like the US with over 300,000,000 citizens, doesn't that mean we'll have to kill off via death panel something like half a million elderly people in the US every year?

Wind farms are like one of those frustratingly unripened boils: you know that you shouldn´t keep squeezing but they´re so noxious and irritating and hideous that you just can´t resist. A vast tract of the East Coast, from Washington DC to New York is in danger of being without power for up to two years, if a massive solar flare knocks out the power grid. With the Sun pushing out unusually large solar flares, capable of disrupting power supplies, a device is being proposed that would prevent more than 300 million Americans being left without power. Afghanistan has suspended talks with the US to discuss the nature of US military presence after foreign troops withdraw in 2014. A spokesman for President Hamid Karzai said the decision was taken over "contradictions" in the US proposal of direct talks with the Taliban. Mr Karzai also ruled out talking to the Taliban until the peace process was "Afghan-led". Earlier, four US soldiers died in a Taliban attack at an Afghan air base. A spokesman for the Taliban said the militants had launched two rockets at Bagram airbase, the largest military base for US troops in Afghanistan.

You don´t need to know much about Afghanistan, the nature of extremist movements or world affairs in general to understand one important principle: Never mind what they say, what are they doing? So while last night the Afghan Taliban released a statement (carefully co-ordinated with the White House) expressing their commitment to finding a political solution to Afghanistan´s conflict, this morning we wake to news that they launched a mortar attack on Bagram air base last night, killing four Americans. [Snip] The problem is that the US is negotiating not from a position of strength but a position of weakness.

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria.
