President Barack Obama is likely to “come out swinging” when he debates Mitt Romney this week in an effort to curb his Republican challenger’s momentum about three weeks before the Nov. 6 election, Republican Senator Rob Portman of Ohio said today. Surrogates for the candidates on the Sunday talk shows predicted a more aggressive Obama will show up for the second presidential debate in New York on Oct. 16. “I think President Obama is going to come out swinging,” Portman, a Romney supporter, said on ABC’s “This Week” program.
Comments: He can swing all he wants. He cannot connect because he is an abject failure and any 'swinging' around that issue will be easily identified as a lie. Romney will call him on it, as will the rest of America. He's got nothing.
Swinging and connecting aren't the same thing. Hitting like a girl not effective. Go ahead Obama, your VP came out swinging how that work out. Gentleman Mitt will provide you a pugilist (boxing) lesson to your floppy ears. Rat a Tat Tat.
All Romney need do is tell the truth and provide examples. I`m sure Obama will once again make at least one statement whereby Romney can again claim, `I don`t know what you`re talking about`. Obama cannot claim a single victory in the past 4 years. The economy is in shambles, huge tax increases are coming for all of us, foreign policy is an abject failure an all Brack can do is lie. Everyone except the Obama Sycophants and the morally blind are for more insanity.
Obama goes into this debate with 3 things weighing against him. First is he knows now that he lost the last debate by historic proportions. Second he has the pressure of a must win and as he has never been pressured to perform, and third...his record, he can't run on it.
He goes in with a self inflected handicaps, himself, his record and inability to think fast on his feet.
I hope he does come out swinging. I hope he rips off his mask so Americans can see the face of the demon on national TV. His "likeability" has always been contrived. There is nothing in the least likable about this incredibly vain and arrogant man. There is nothing at all likable about the ideology of militant Leftism. Joe Biden's evil clown act merely scratched the surface of the malicious hatred that motivates these people. The core dynamic of Leftism is not love but aggression, aggression against others, society, the world, and against God. Fine words and an insinuating manner conceal the underlying anarchism and nihilism of Leftism materialism. The mainstream rhetoric of Leftism is largely an extended series of ad hominem attacks upon opponents. Obama defaults to this mode in most of his campaign speeches. It comes naturally to him to smear, slander, defame and assassinate the character of adversaries. This is what his frenzied fans are demanding from him now. Their fear has made them bloodthirsty and heedless of the possible consequences. They want him to make a Berserker charge against Romney, tear him into shreds and dance upon the remains. Let us hope that he strives to gratify them. Then Americans who still claim to find this dreadful man likable will see and understand their mistake.
Many Black so called Baptist Churches are praying for his victory. They think God wants a pro gay , pro abortion , pro Islam and anti Israel President. The democrat party platform is not compatible with Christianity.
Agree with #26. If he comes out swinging wildly, that carefully constructed mask of cool, unflappable, likeable, above petty partisan politics will be ripped open. Another intolerant boorish Liberal with his own teeth and hair but nevertheless obnoxious.
Dunham only has two faces: passive and aggressive. He's played the passive card to humiliating ridicule (even SNL mocked him) and Tuesday night he'll play the aggressive one.
I'm excited because we may finally see the REAL Barry, who only bubbles to the surface on occasion. The potential for him to really lose it is great. (Please God, please).
This debate will be vastly different from anything he's ever experienced in that it may actually be the only time in his entire life that he's been publicly held accountable for what he stands for. The potential for ugly for huge. We're in for the time of our lives!
Swinging, right. So what's he now, Sugar Ray Robinson?
Seriously though, if Obama would take speech lessons from Marc Lamont Hill, he might be able to combine a monkey chatter staccato with his own meandering nonsense and score some style points with High School Seniors voting for the first time.
just like with Biden-the media will say he won, blanket the airwaves with "Rocky" stories, etc. but the visual will tell it all. he's a thin-skinned, petulant, nasty little man--if Romney gets under his skin-he'll reveal himself just like Joe...
No. 40 has it -- Obama will throw a hissy fit (or several of them), tell lies about Bain, demand to see income tax returns and never reply directly to any questions about the deficits, Obamacare, Libya or Iran, and the media will call it ''aggressive debate'' and ignore whatever Romney says in reply, and the spin will make you dizzy. Again.
There is no way Barry or BiteMe can win an honest debate because their record stinks and they have no plan for the next 4 years except spend even more. That is why they always have to have a gimmick. In debate #1, Barry's gimmick was not looking at Romney, not acknowledging him, or validating his existence. In BiteMe's debate with Ryan, the gimmick was to belittle and try to diminish Ryan by outright mocking and interruptions.
In this upcoming debate, I expect Barry's gimmick to be him acting like Mr. Sensitive to your pain. He will strut and preen and be cooooool. It won't be better than Romney, who comes across as honest, capable and genuine.
So the Devil himself is dictating tactics for the duplicitous dems? The last thing Old Ned does to those who would follow his contentious ways is destroy them for fun. (We'll have to cast this as poetically speaking, since how many still think Old Ned is still around grinning and spinning?)
Exactly wrong move in the townhall type debate setting. How do you get tough and macho and over power and win on likability?
obama to morph into something or other and Mitt gets to be Mitt again? Mitt will not have to take any substances to buoy himself up--he is used to not imbibing. Maybe a peanut butter sandwich with the fam and a bit of prayer or reflection-a Tebow moment in private so to speak?
obama the novice to carry all the weight of the socialist hope movement of Ayer and Frank Marshall Davis on his back?
Bring it on Barry, but remember. You're not debating George Bush or John McCain. You're meeting with the master again and he will wipe that stuttering jub eared tiny whiny head of yours clean. So you see, it doesn't matter how well prepared you think you are. You are simply out of your league.
Sure he'll come out swinging but he"ll hit nothing but air. He seems to think that he'll be debating McVain again. He's forgotten that he'll be dealing with an opponent that can not only take a punch, bob and weave but he can also punch back. Get the popcorn and your favorite drinks ready L-Dotters because it's gonna be another good one.
WASHINGTON -- The Affordable Care Act is a "war on women" that denies mothers the ability to make choices for their families, U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers, R-N.C., said Saturday. The ACA, beginning Aug. 12, 2012, requires insurance plans to provide new preventive benefits including contraceptives, breastfeeding supplies and gestational diabetes screening for pregnant women, prenatal care, routine breast and pelvic exams and pap tests used to detect potentially precancerous and cancerous processes in the cervix. Delivering the GOP´s weekly address, Ellmers called on President Barack Obama to get rid of the law or at least delay its implementation. Ellmers, a nurse and mother
In South Carolina, the American flag that flies over the Pickens County Sheriff´s Office will be raised high over the weekend despite an order by President Obama that flags be lowered to half-staff to honor the death of iconic South African leader Nelson Mandela. Sheriff Rick Clark told GreenvilleOnline.com that he is ordering the flag be raised on Sunday because the honor of lowering flags to half-staff should be reserved for Americans. "The flag at half-staff is for Americans´ ultimate sacrifice for our country," Clark said. "We should never stray away from that." The flag is currently flying at half-staff in honor of
Mitsubishi is the latest in a long line of automakers to slash prices on an electric car, the unpronounceable, unfortunately named i-MiEV. The model is now the cheapest EV on the market, yet it’s still hard to imagine many drivers excitedly running out to buy one. Overall, American consumers are paying more for cars. The average price paid for a new light vehicle in November was $32,769, up 3% compared to October, and 1.1% year over year, according to Kelley Blue Book. Yet as average prices rise, one segment of the new car market has gotten markedly cheaper. “Electric vehicles had
Nelson Mandela is being remembered across the world (and political spectrum) for his heroic, life-long battle against apartheid and injustice in South Africa. But with all the accolades being thrown around, it’s easy to forget that the U.S., in particular, hasn’t always had such a friendly relationship with Mandela -- and that in fact, as late as 2008, the Nobel Prize winner and former president was still on the U.S. terrorism watch list.(snip)Eventually, of course, the U.S. did pass economic sanctions, which are widely credited for helping topple -- at least in part -- the apartheid regime. Mandela went on
President Barack Obama and his family will spend Christmas in Hawaii again this year, and are expected to stay in the same beachfront Kailua neighborhood where they´ve spent the past five year-end holidays. Hawaii News Now reports the Obamas are expected to arrive around Dec. 20 and stay until Jan. 5. While Obama typically spends a lot of time at the nearby Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay, working out in the gym and playing golf, he does tend to venture out to the same local businesses each trip. Among his favorites are Island Snow and Buzz´s Original Steakhouse in Kailua,
On a break from pretending to believe they live in a country bristling with violent white racists, the Non-Fox Media have been trying to debunk stories about the "Knockout Game," in which young black males approach random strangers and try to knock them out with one punch. The left´s leading line of defense against the Knockout Game is to argue that young black males have always been violent, so, hey, this is nothing new. You´re welcome, black America! In Slate, Emma Roller wearily recounted other episodes of black-on-white violence in order to announce: "The ´Knockout Game´ is a myth." Reminiscing about the flash mobs
CASPER, Wyo. — The Power Company of Wyoming plans to apply next month for a federal permit that will allow the firm to kill a limited number of eagles every year at its planned Chokecherry-Sierra Madre wind farm in Carbon County. The decision of the Denver-based developer to seek what is known as an “eagle-take permit” from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reflects what may be the beginning of a trend, industry observers said. Fish and Wildlife has never granted a take permit to a wind developer, but is currently considering several applications, said Dave Carlson, National Environmental Protection
Last summer on his $100 million family tour of Africa, Barack Obama hoped for a priceless photo op with Nelson Mandela, the ailing freedom pioneer who went from prison cell to the presidency of South Africa. Mandela´s family suggested that wouldn’t happen. So, the Obamas did a photo op in Mandela´s former prison cell. Which Obama’s White House quickly tweeted upon word of the icon´s passing at 95. [Skip] But Obama was also caught staring at television coverage of Mandela’s passing, which became Obama’s Photo of the Day.
More young men in California rise in pitch at the end of their sentences when talking, new research shows. This process is known as "uptalk" or "valleygirl speak" and has in the past been associated with young females, typically from California or Australia. But now a team says that this way of speaking is becoming more frequent among men.The findings were presented at the Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in California. "We found use of uptalk in all of our speakers, despite their diverse backgrounds in socioeconomic status, ethnicity, bilingualism and gender," said Amanda Ritchart, a linguist at the University of
The most curious thing of all about the November jobs report released on Friday was the huge drop in the unemployment rate — and the fact that the Labor Department chose not to disclose that the data going into that figure are under investigation for falsification. On Nov. 19, I broke the news in my column that the Census Bureau, which collects data that goes into the jobless rate on behalf of Labor, had caught one of its enumerators fabricating interviews in 2010. The culprit said back then (and to me during an interview) that he was told to do so by
DAVID CORN: I saw a president who remains frustrated with the political-media culture that he has to work within, and that he´s looking to rally people, students here, and supporters, and people within the media. CHRIS MATTHEWS: But David Corn, you skeptic. He came to us today. He came amongst us. CORN: He´s trying to rally people behind this vision that he´s been promoting for a couple years. FINEMAN: By the way, he did it the end here, today, Chris, not by defending specifics, but by explaining why he´s in the game to begin with. And I don´t know about you, he´s
Speaker John Boehner said his party should support gay Republican congressional candidates and urged his colleagues to “be a little more sensitive” when running against women. “Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Boehner said. When asked if he thinks his party should support gay candidates, Boehner simply said: “I do.”
Denver - A baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs or face fines, a judge said Friday. The order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver discriminated against a couple "because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage." The order says the cake-maker must "cease and desist from discriminating" against gay couples. Although the judge did not impose fines in this case, the business will face penalties if it continues to turn away gay
