Did Biden Hang the State Department
Out to Dry at the Debate?

Everyone loves Hillary Clinton these days.(Snip) But what if the most politically significant foreign-policy failure of Obama's presidency is actually due to a failure of the diplomatic-security strategy at the Clinton-run State Department? That's certainly what all the evidence suggests. Charlene Lamb, deputy assistant secretary for international programs at the State Department's Bureau of Diplomat Security, told a House committee Wednesday that she personally rejected a request for additional diplomatic security in Libya, though what she rejected was not a request for Marines

Comments:
The request submitted TWICE to Charlene Lamb - once in the spring, again this summer - was for the extension of specially trained State Department security forces who were already in Libya. They were subsequently removed or cut back in number.

I spent the time to look at the whole House Oversight Committee Hearing on CSPAN, and watched as the security guys--a Special Forces officer commanding the SF detachment on loan from DOD and the State Department's own civilian security chief for Libya-- testified how they kept asking to keep existing forces and to reinforce them, and how Lamb (apparently under the orders of her boss at State, Eric Boswell) kept whittling away at their already inadequate forces and turning their several requests for more forces down, when she didn't just ignore them, and not for lack of funds but for political reasons, so as not to present such a "militarized" presence but one bespeaking "normalization."

Meanwhile, soft, effete Ambassador Kennedy, seated next to her, kept prompting her as to what she should say and stonewalling the Committee.

Truly a nauseating display of Leftist ideology trumping common sense, and incompetence, impotence, and willful ignorance in charge.

Wow! The Atlantic, and the NY times, are throwing hillary under the bus! How desperate is that??

And old joe bidet wants us to believe that with 9/11 coming up, with all sorts of filthy islamofascist terrorist pig threats, the president would not have been briefed on the security risks? Please! That is insulting to the voters to assert that.

Reply 4 - Posted by: Observer177, 10/14/2012 11:32:38 AM     (No. 8932216)

P.S. The rationale for turning down the requests for more U.S. military/security forces was that a bunch of hired Libyan gunmen--the "February 17th Martyrs Brigade"--when combined with a few U.S. security personnel, could provide adequate security in chaotic, lawless, increasingly violent Benghazi.

What is the "February 17th Martyrs Brigade"?

Well, reportedly they're named after the incident on February 17th, 2006, when thousands of citizens of Benghazi attacked the Italian Consulate there, after the Italian Ambassador defended free speech on TV during the furor over the Muhammad cartoons.

So, just the armed Muslims who are likely to defend our diplomatic compound, American "unbelievers," and our way of life and values--including freedom of religion and free speech--against their fellow Muslims, friends, neighbors, and relatives in Benghazi.

Moreover, there have also been reports that the very Jihadi group, the Ansari al-Shari'a --that has been tagged as being the armed group that led the attack--is an offshoot of the February 17th Martyrs Brigade, as well as accusations that the members of "17th" who were supposedly providing security for our compound and diplomats just "faded away" immediately before the attack.

Oh, yeah, that was some world-class,dialed-in, intelligent, DOS management and decision making going on there.

Reply 5 - Posted by: Observer177, 10/14/2012 1:08:25 PM     (No. 8932376)

The next question is, who kept/put these DOS functionaries in postions of power, who set the agenda and mind-set, who gave them their marching orders? And that would be Hillary Clinton.

However, Clinton is not her own free agent and did not work in a vacuum.

So, who gave her her marching orders, told her what the tone to be set would be, what policies would be followed and what policies would not, what was permissible and desired, and what was to be avoided and unacceptable?

And that would be Obama, the current Captain of the Ship of State, who picks the ship's crew, sets the course, and who is then responsible for everything they do and everything that happens on his watch.

Come on Hillary, grow a pair and drop the bomb on your boss. Tell us what REALLY happened. Its not to tell for you to be a write in candidate, haha.

No, everyone does not love Hillary these days. She is the same today as she was in Arkansas and in the WH. She is a liar and a crook and will do anything for power and money. She has been in the middle of many a mess in Washington and has slipped by unscathed. She never shed a tear when her "best" friend was murdered at Ft. Marcy park. Chris Stevens, according to her, was her friend. With friends like Hillary, who needs enemies.

And again I ask, how is it that Obama is not responsible for his own Sec State and State Dept, but GWB is responsible for the fallout over Katrina? Helluva job Clinton = helluva job, Brownie.

No way does Obama succeed in distancing himself enough from this debacle. To plead ignorance on his part is to plead incompetence and negligent disregard for the requirements of his office. It doesn't MATTER to me if he knew or not, he should have. Epic fail.

Although the State Department (Hillary) is saying they knew all along that it wasn't the video, "Ambassador" Patrick Kennedy, functionary-for-life in the SD bureaucracy, sat in the House Oversight Committee hearing last week (we too watched the whole thing) and repeated over and over again that he'd have said the same thing Susan Rice said on the Sunday morning shows 9/16.

There is still a huge credibility gap here that cannot and should not be ignored.

Gen. John Allen has been appointed special U.S. envoy on security issues in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. He will not mediate between the parties; his work will almost exclusively involve contacts with Israel. Allen will deal with the U.S. position on Israeli security needs and the security arrangements that would accompany the establishment of a future Palestinian state. Senior U.S. and Israeli officials note that while U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel made the appointment it was coordinated with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who is leading the effort to restart Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

A Washington state Democrat is accusing Republicans of “throwing American infrastructure … under the bus” after a bridge collapse there this week. The portion of Interstate 5 in Washington that runs over the Skagit River collapsed on Thursday after a truck hit an overhead support structure, but Rep. Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.
