| It was supposed to be over by now, the complex movement of the 155,000-pound space shuttle Endeavour from a United Airlines terminal at LAX airport to the California Science Center. But it’s taken far longer than planned. Moving crews removed signs and cut down trees along city streets. But the 78-foot wingspan plus thousands of spectators all along the route have slowed the process greatly.

Would not go anywhere near it. This is a mess.
Great numbers of mature trees removed, numbers of traffic signs and signals removed, treat numbers of traffic control and parking signs removed.
An ill-conceived idea. Maybe not everything is supposed to be saved?
It didn't help that the local pols and newsers have been trumpeting this thing's movement as The Event of the Century so that thousands of people are out there, waiting, trying to drive to see it, trying to park.

The original route was along MLK Blvd. Easier route. BUT trees had to be cut down, of course, those trees could not be touched.

Ah, come on guys. We got up at 2 a.m. to watch it moving on our neighborhood streets out of LAX. Young families had their kids in jammies, it was inches from yard fences, rustled the pink flower vines, crouched between the light standards, crossed the intersection I've walked countless times & then parked in the same place I park when I go to the bank or get my hair done. It went right over my head. If I had a broom, I could have touched it!
My husband was one of thousands in our neighborhood who worked successfully on all the early space shots, his small business, started in our garage, employed countless people, was part of the private sector that did all the design and manufacturing to get it done.
Don't be so negative about things. Geeezeee.

The only thing we are negative about is the fact that this masterpiece of American engineering only got to live for 25% of its usefull life before being mothballed, along with the rest of the U.S. space program. The amount spent on the space program was pocket change compared to what we spend on welfare programs.

Hi, I’m Congressman Andy Harris, and this is the Red Tape Tower. 20,000 pages high and seven feet tall, it encompasses all of the regulations already associated with President Obama’s health care law. The red tape, the taxes, the mandates, the tricks, the traps, the fine print … it’s all here. Now: just think about the fact that it’s the IRS that will be responsible for enforcing many of these regulations. If we’ve learned anything this week, it’s that the IRS needs less power.

Hi, everybody. Over the past few months, I’ve laid out a series of commonsense ideas to reignite the true engine of our economic growth: a rising, thriving middle class. The way I see it, there are three areas where we need to focus. One: making America a magnet for good jobs. Two: making sure our workers have the education and skills they need to do those jobs. Another awkward day in the unraveling presidency of Barack Obama. Beset by a trio of profound scandals, the Democrat planned Thursday´s message on foreign affairs through a joint news conference with Turkey´s Prime Minister Erdogan, a NATO ally. Unfortunately, Obama´s advance staff was apparently too busy preparing his next campaign stops to check the Washington weather forecast. It set up the news conference outdoors in the Rose Garden. Wouldn´t you know given POTUS´ recent luck, it began raining heavily. Obama [Snip] ordered two U.S. Marines to come hold umbrellas over the leaders´ heads while standing at attention.

Washington, the former swamp steeped now in ambition, acrimony and duplicity, is quite experienced in handling scandals. They erupt regularly like bipartisan blisters. If handled correctly -- take responsibility, be sincere, proactive, contrite and get all the bad stuff out there quickly in one tidy, eminently forgettable package -- scandals can heal and leave barely a scar. Take Barack Obama. Please. His recent behavior and that of his administration in this ongoing bad news blizzard will be case studies for future generations of communications strategists on how not to address crises.

Fallon: Joe Biden met with South Korean President Park, gave her advice on avoiding war with North Korea. In other words, we´re going to war with North Korea. Leno: A CNN reporter was robbed right in downtown Atlanta. But because it was on CNN, there were no witnesses. Fallon: Obama tells Ohio State grads they need to make the world a better place. A key tenet of Barack Obama´s grand design to radically transform the country he did not grow up in is to corrode Americans´ confidence in their revered institutions. The Supreme Court. Private enterprise. The national capitol complex. Big business (except for its political donations to him). Congress. Especially Congress, even when it does his bidding. If Americans come to doubt what they used to believe in, it will be easier for Obama to drive home his own brand of solutions. [Snip] Obama’s been admitting an awful lot of ignorance in recent days.

So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes. The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
