NAACP Sees 'Soft Bigotry Of Low
Expectations' in FL Race-Based
Education Goals

Breitbart's Big Government, by Wynton Hall

The Florida State Board of Education recently announced that its K-12 academic achievement goals for math and reading will vary depending on a student's race. By 2018, the Florida BOE hopes to see the following reading outcomes: (Snip) But Washington Bureau director of the NAACP Hilary Shelton sees it differently. Mr. Shelton says the lower standards for minorities reflect what President George W. Bush once dubbed the "soft bigotry of low expectations": "It's, what do they say? 'Soft bigotry of low expectations," said Shelton. "They're really letting the educators off the hook

The goal is equal outcomes, not equal opportunity. It's done by dumbing down the subject matter.

This is not "soft bigotry". This is real bigotry - the BoE has stated blacks are incapable of achieving academic excellence. They are saying blacks are cognitively inferior. That kids, is Robert Byrd KKK grade racism.

No it isn't.

FL want to increase the reading and math skills to at or above normal for 74% of the black kids in their schools. The current skills are 38%. That is an increase of 36% of the students in 6 short school years. That is substantially higher than the increase anticipated for Asian, white, and Hispanic students.

It won't happen unless the kids' parents get behind this goal.

No one will admit how they lowered standards for everyone in the 1970s and 1980s to make minorities look better. If test scores for blacks are in the toilet, then it is an honest assessment to say that they might not rise as quickly as white students. But as they progress, the bar can continue to be raised. The bar just isn't there at all right now.

If the standards were as high as they are supposed to be and every student either had to achieve the standard or be held back, there'd be riots in every city in America with over 500K population. Few students cold cut it and still fewer of some kids could cut it.

I've taught at Title 1 schools and I can attest to the fact that there are black and hispanic students who can compete with anyone. I hate that they are being told, as a group, that they are some how inferior. I'm not sure exactly how soft that bigotry is...

How about setting percentage improvements for individual students? Take them where they are and see what you can do to move them up? Vouchers would be nice, too.

The NAACP and every liberal organization in this country have supported and defended low expectations of blacks and Hispanics since the Civil Rights Act or before. How embarrassing and shameful it must be for each minority generation to find they are "not smart enough" to compete with white students. Their anger and resentment is directed at whites by the very liberal establishment that defines their inferiority. Obama came along at the wrong time for this generation.

I don't see what the NAACP is complaining about. They've been espousing 'soft bigotry' for years. Now that they've got their wish, they don't like it.

SIMFEROPOL, Ukraine, Ukraine - Masked gunmen stormed the parliament of Ukraine´s strategic Crimea region as Russian fighter jets screamed above the border, while Ukraine´s newly formed government pledged to prevent a national breakup with the strong backing of the West - the stirrings of a potentially dangerous confrontation reminiscent of Cold War brinksmanship. Moscow reportedly granted shelter to Ukraine´s fugitive president, Viktor Yanukovych, who was said to be holed up in a luxury government retreat and to have scheduled a news conference Friday near the Ukrainian border. There have been times when the CNN host Piers Morgan didn’t seem to like America very much — and American audiences have been more than willing to return the favor. Three years after taking over for Larry King, Mr. Morgan has seen the ratings for “Piers Morgan Live” hit some new lows, drawing a fraction of viewers compared with competitors at Fox News and MSNBC. On May 12, 1992, Stan Greenberg and Celinda Lake, top pollsters for Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign, issued a confidential memo. The memo’s subject was “Research on Hillary Clinton.” Voters admired the strength of the Arkansas first couple, the pollsters wrote. However, “they also fear that only someone too politically ambitious, too strong, and too ruthless could survive such controversy so well.” Their conclusion: “What voters find slick in Bill Clinton, they find ruthless in Hillary.” The full memo is one of many previously unpublished documents contained in the archive of one of Hillary Clinton’s best friends and advisers, documents that

It really is a tale of two cities — this time with the tony Upper East Side getting the shaft! Huge swaths of the city’s wealthiest neighborhood had been not been plowed by early Tuesday evening, leaving 1-percenters out in the cold, according to the city’s own map of snow-plower activity. “He is trying to get us back. He is very divisive and political,” said writer and life-long Upper East Side mom Molly Jong Fast of Mayor de Blasio. “By not plowing the Upper East Side, he is saying, ‘I’m not one of them.’ But we have everyone in this

NEW ORLEANS — AJ McCarron got up slowly and walked alone to the sideline with the full weight of another dispiriting loss weighing him down. His fumble on a sack turned into an Oklahoma touchdown with 47 seconds left, sealing the Sooners’ 45-31 victory over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday night. In a painful twist, McCarron ended his illustrious college career by losing twice in a row after going 36-2 in his first 38 games at Alabama. Oklahoma, a 17-point underdog, scored two touchdowns off his interceptions in the first half before capping the upset by returning his

In a Dec. 13 profile of outgoing Smithsonian Institution Secretary G. Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes.
