| The flu may make you sick this winter, but it could kill your cat. “Most people don’t realize that humans can pass diseases to animals,” said Dr. Christiane Löhr, an Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine pathologist. (Snip) Veterinary medicine researchers in Ohio followed up with a study, published last December, of a widespread H1N1 infection rate in 400 healthy cats, although few developed symptoms. Löhr and Truijillo are collecting data now to find out more about how this rare “reverse zoonosis” is happening. Two weeks ago we took our cat to the Vet because of strange wheezy breathing. He had had no symptoms and I would have guessed he was the healtiest cat in town the day before.
An X-Ray showed cardiomyopathy and lungs filled with water. Since he essentially needed a hert transplant we had to put him down at the visit.
I asked the doctor how the symptoms could come so suddenly and be so hopeless. He said that some cats have congential defects.
My grandchildren had a bad virus that took about a week to shake the fever and another two for the cough. I doubt it was H1N1, but I never considered a human/animal transfer, at least in domestic animals.
I guess it's just one more import from China that will eventually kill us.

Dogs lick a lot of things including their owner's face.
Dusty litter is not good for cat lungs.

My vet told me we cannot pass on illness to our pets and vice versa... hmm.

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

The Obama and Romney campaigns may be gearing up for a very late night, with one Obama campaign adviser predicting that in Florida alone, "they'll be counting until 2 a.m." The Obama adviser said signs suggest the race is quite tight, though the campaign claimed to be "holding strong" in key battlegrounds like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The adviser also said turnout among black voters in Virginia was better than expected, suggesting that could be a problem for Mitt Romney. Republican operatives in Virginia, though, predicted a razor-thin victory for their candidate in the state.

A week after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, a majority of voters said President Barack Obama’s response to the crisis wasn’t a factor in their vote, according to early exit polls. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed, per CBS News’ early exit polling released by radio station WKZO in Kalamazoo, Mich., said Obama’s handling of the storm was a minor factor in their vote or wasn’t a factor at all. Twenty-six percent named Sandy as an “important” factor, and 15 percent said it was the “most important” factor in their decision.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city.
