In a bid to play down the eurozone debt crisis the $1.2million award is set to go to the body in Brussels for its actions in bringing together the country's of Europe, Norway's NRK public radio station said. The decision, which is set to be announced in Oslo was taken by a five-member panel and led by Council of Europe's Secretary-General Thorbjoern Jagland and was said to be 'unanimous', according to the station. A spokesman at the station said: "We have had confirmation from people whom we trust who say that it is the EU that will get the

Comments:
This is not a joke. Beyond the obvious farcical decision, the money is apparently to help reduce the eurozone debt. As if! This is like giving the Mooch $1.2 million to pay the taxpayer for her extended vacations. It might just cover the Marbella joyride.

Actually, Obama won in 2009, not last year. But hey, just look at all the peace he's created in the last 4 years. Perhaps the Norwegians will award it next year to the Muslim Brotherhood.

It says in the article that the Nobel committee praised the EU for rebuilding Europe after World War II. That is a lie. The United States rebuilt Europe with the Marshall Plan. If it hadn't been for the Marshall Plan, Communism would have taken over all of Western Europe.

I would have been disappointed if the Nobel Committee had given this prize to someone deserving. At least we have the continued assurance that this prize has not been recovered from the cesspool in which it resides: Yasser Arafat, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Barack Obama, the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei, the United Nations, Kofi Annan, Rigoberta Menchú, Mikhail Gorbachev, Desmond Tutu, Amnesty International, and the entire European Union. It's like the cantina scene in the movie Star Wars.

16 raristotle BRILLIANTLY suggests the Nobel
Not So Peaceful Prize and the cesspool of evil recipients, in which the Not Prize resides: Yasser Arafat, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Barack Obama, the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei, the United Nations, Kofi Annan, Rigoberta Menchú, Mikhail Gorbachev, Desmond Tutu, Amnesty International, and the entire European Union.
And then, raristotle states, "It's like the cantina scene in the movie Star Wars."
Cartoonists of the free press, this is the opportunity of all times, a massive drawing
of all these mad politicians and dictators
a cartoon that becomes a classic poster of the internatonal New World Order crime syndicate. They left out Fidel Castro, Chavez, Bill and Hilary Clinton and all Muslim "Honor Killings".

Only if you define 'Peace' as the elimination of Nationality, Culture, Nationality, and Language. ............ No traditions can now be handed down to children/grandchildren.

The National Patrony of Nations is effectively eliminated by the 'No Borders', 'No Nation', 'No Superior Culture' rules of the E.U

1000s of years of Europe's People's Traditions gone in less than one generation!!!

#8 you are exactly correct, without the US and the Marshall Plan, European countries would have gone from one loathsome dictator to another. There are countless number of selfless, generous, hard working people who give of themselves for a better world.

The peace prize should have gone to Chris Stevens posthumously for all of his work improving conditions in Libya.

But then we are talking about the Peace Prize committee, none of whom can find their fanny with both hands.

A huge fire in Gibraltar, caused by a fuel tank explosion, shut down many online betting services and disrupted gamblers during a busy day of sport. Residences near the blaze were evactuated following the fire, which broke out at around 1pm local time. The explosion occurred at Gibraltar´s main power station and the fire shut down much of the area´s electricity. Thousands of residents and tourists were left without power while firefighters battled the blaze. The fire was eventually brought under control at around 4.30pm local time. Immortalised in Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poem about the “valley of death”, the Charge of the Light Brigade is remembered as one of the most glorious defeats in British history. The documents overturn much of the established wisdom of the battle and provide clues as to how the calamitous attack, during the Battle of Balaclava, in the Crimean War, came to be accidentally launched. [Snip] The charge saw the light cavalry mount an assault into a valley flanked, on three sides, by Russians. Lord Raglan, overall commander of the British forces, had intended to send the Light Brigade to pursue and

What stops the Earth from looking like Pluto is energy from the Sun. The quantity and type of energy coming from the Sun varies over cycles that range up to 1,500 years long. The cycle we can see with our own eyes, in our own lifetimes, is the sunspot cycle that is normally eleven years long. [Snip] It has become established—for those who are willing to look at the evidence—that climate will very closely follow our colder Sun. Climate is no longer a mystery to us. We can predict forward up to two solar cycles, that is about twenty-two years into the future. When models of solar activity are further refined, we may be able to predict climate

Of all the many absurdities of the great climate change non-crisis which has been pointlessly obsessing our planet this last three or four decades, surely the most egregious is this: global warming is good. No really, it is. As a few bold heretics--such as Australian geologist Ian Plimer in his book Heaven And Earth--have long been trying to tell anyone prepared to listen, the human species is designed for warmth not cold. Ice ages are something we should naturally fear; warming periods are something which for which we should yearn. All the historical evidence confirms this--that periods of warming

With her twinkling eyes and beaming smile, it is hard to believe Her Majesty will mark her 88th birthday tomorrow. This portrait of the Queen, taken by celebrated British photographer David Bailey CBE, was released today ahead of the occasion. It shows the monarch smiling at the camera - while donning a pearl necklace, earrings and a brooch. Her jewellery is accompanied by a simple dress by Angela Kelly, who has served as the Queen´s personal assistant and senior dresser since 2002. The black-and-white photograph was taken at Buckingham Palace in March and commissioned on behalf of the Government´s GREAT

At least six Birmingham schools accused of harbouring a Trojan horse plot run by Muslim fundamentalists will be placed under special measures by Ofsted. The action is understandable. The unsubtle attempts to insert Islamist ideas--representing an extremist, politicised form of Islam--into the curriculum of those schools makes for frightening reading. Equally unsettling was the liberal establishment’s failure to correct it. According to a special report by the Education Funding Agency, radical Muslims have tried to take control of teaching by first taking control of school governorships. Excellent head teachers were either reduced to the status of figureheads or forced out

Here we are again, facing Russia across the barricades. How did that happen? Only five minutes ago, the West was celebrating the collapse of Soviet communism: a historic victory which had been achieved without a shot being fired. Russia would now join the free world as a capitalist economy, with something like democratic institutions. The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million.
