WASHINGTON -- Well, apparently I am not crazy after all. The polls have caught up with me, and they -- après le débat -- are coming around to my point of view. Governor Mitt Romney is ahead in the race for the White House, and let me add he will probably be residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in 2013. I have been saying it for weeks, recognizing that the polls are weighted too heavily toward the Democratic candidate, employ too small a sampling -- as little as nine percent of the electorate --

Yup, Romney stepped up, he is the leader. The voters know it.
Of interest, not mentioned, Romney's word count during the debate was huge, way higher than obama's uhhh ... ummm. Romney planned way in advance to amply provide the steak, where obama barely provides any sizzle anymore. Romney is a man who leaves little to chance. Shows in is record.
Hey, bigshot writer, editor, business owner...where were you four years ago when this clown came upon the presidential stage? It takes this long, and even now you choose your words oh so carefully, to come out and state Obama is truly an empty suit of the neo-marxist, anti-American, Jew hating, muslim loving schools?
At least I might be able to count on you to load the weapons...if you don't duck and hide when the real game starts.
Remember, the votes have to be counted and Obama-Mao has hundreds of lawyers lined up to fight the count, the results if it is anywhere close...
Classic closing to the article, but he left out "part time" President. However, he and the Mooch are there for all the perks and will be until the evening of January 19, 2013. Lord knows he has not worked at this job - ever!
Lapidarily is a great word. But here's a new description for Obama, the Dunning-Kruger effect:
The shrinks even have a fancy phrase for it: the Dunning-Kruger effect.
[F]or a given skill, incompetent people will:
1. tend to overestimate their own level of skill; 2. fail to recognize genuine skill in others; 3. fail to recognize the extremity of their inadequacy...
This is how Obama can perform miserably in a debate, as well as miserably in a presidency, and have no idea that he has done so. Apparently the MSM also suffers from the Dunning-Kruger effect. They, too, are incompetent and are not just unwilling but unable to see that their hero is just an empty chair.
FTA:"does not know how to make or implement policy, and much prefers to gabble on and on," Yet another perfect description the False Professor. IMO, the chinless wonders in DC know the gig is up and will start to run from him and his toxic Regime quickly.
I would offer this word of caution about debate #2. The townhall format makes it relatively easy for audience members, if shills for barack, to cause trouble for romney. Mike Kelly, first term congressman from NW Pa, and Ann Marie Buerkle, first termer from central NY, each has faced disruptive shills when they try to have town meetings with constituents. The townhall format also ended the Bush 41 presidency, in my opinion.
And if the moderators are in the tank for obama, the combined mess could be troublesome.
And to think that Obama actually thought he won the debate. You only had to look at the snarling look on Michele's face as she stood between Barack and Romney at the podium to know, she was fuming. She knew what BO had missed... you're a loser, pal. His desires are like a 3yr old.: he wants to win so he is still on stage but wants to lose because he hates the work. So, he whines and can't decide.
Primary elections aren't held until May here in North Carolina so we don't get much attention from the candidates during the nominating process. Romney was for the most part unknown (at least to me) in 2008. Yet the speech he gave on the night he pulled out of that race really impressed me. My short memory doesn't allow me to quote anything he said, but after hearing that it came as no surprise that he could do very well in the debates.
Vintage Tyrrell! And although the horse escaped from the barn four years ago, it took Tyrrell to point out publicly that one critical difference between now and 2008 is that McCain didn't want to win, and Romney, it is evident, does.
Glad to see so many people here defending Tyrrell against someone who was evidently confused by his (Tyrrell's) sardonic style.
Apparently the ever witty and erudite Tyrrell has coined "lapidarily" an adverbial form of lapidary!
I also like the "ceremonial president" description. Surely, if we had a system like GB's, we could have a PM and a ceremonial figurehead who could enjoy all the pomp, wear a crown, carry a scepter, not responsible for any really hard work.
BO really does not like to work. He doesn't have the ability to knuckle down and work on a problem IN ORDER TO find a solution.
So we learn that on the night of 9/11/11, when BO knew that the assault on the Consulate had begun and Ambassador Stevens was **missing**, he WENT TO BED... and in the morning he flew off to campaign and party.
Romney is obviously a hard worker. He approaches difficulties with the intention of finding solutions. He isn't perfect; no man is. But he demonstrates more capability than any Presidential candidate in a long, long time.
Tyrell started his magazine by a thin newspaper style. I loved his witty, intelligent remarks and when the magazine came out, I was a subscriber as soon as I could get the check in the mail. His books are funny and very dead on against liberals.
Apparently, they are marketing "snark" pills and #6 is purchasing in huge quantities.
Another great article from American Spectator, long a steel rod up the spine of conservative thought. Tyrrell's article should be copied into your kept files and read in a year.
Work like crazy locally to elect conservative candidates to give Romney a majority in both Houses of Congress. Lord knows, we cannot bear the likes of the sniveling Reid or the possibility of SanFranNan again.
Saw Obama & his teleprompter on tv giving a speech after the first debate. He doubled down, as he likes to say, on his claim the rich get tax breaks to ship jobs overseas. Since he has been POTUS for almost 4 years, why hasn't he changed the law?
Re- above suggestions about dirty tricks to push Ø to the top- if Romney goes over the magic 3%, the dirty tricks won't matter. Fraud and dirt account for about a 2.7% Democrat advantage in every national election.
For all the recent books, delivering the bad news about the Imposter, please go to www.destructivepresident.com, the newest E book just published on Amazon, written by forensic psychologist, Paul M Fick, PhD. Some of you will remember his bestselling THE DYSFUNCTIONAL PRESIDENT in the 90's, about how Slick Willie, that his sexually compulsive ways and pathological lying would surely interfere with his presidency. Dr Fick's new Ebook THE DESTRUCTIVE PRESIDENT, reveals the raging vindictive ways of this person carrying his unresolved psychological problems into the White House. And we are all the losers of this unvetted, untested, not cool imposter. Even Diane Sawyer can't cover for this terrifying mistake and Paul Fick describes the impaired leader more revelingly than any other creative mind to date. The site brilliantly describes the book.
...good piece, and his "net-net" was right on...what we saw in the first debate it's as good as it gets for 0bama. Unless he has a magic pill, I can't see him being able to improve much on his style or substance.
...over the last four years I'm sure many have heard the term "Peter Principal" used with 0bama. He probably attained that level with election to the Senate...(take that back, community activist)
...Romney on the other hand is the "self-actualized" man. Ready, willing and capable of taking on the job and turning this country around...
FTA, parting shot: ''What you saw last week was the essential Barack Obama, community organizer, part-time senator.''
Perfect. The rabble rouser, the divider, the disengaged senator. And I agree that Obama was not off his game in Denver... That WAS his game, without the teleprompter and adoring news media enhancements... And for all to plainly see, many for the first time. The only comeback he has now is bitter and unattractive attacks and that will only serve to drive his likability down. I think he's boxed himself in.
Zippy doesn't want to play President anymore. He is only putting up with it because he so poisoned the waters for the Dems they can't run anyone else, and because the Grifter-in-chief Moochelle and his funders are making him try in case they can steal their way into winning again. Zippy is already all checked out
The Texas Republican Party is reopening the filing period for Rep. Steve Stockman´s (R-Texas) congressional district after his last-second decision to run instead against Sen. John Cornyn (R). Stockman filed for Cornyn´s seat rather than reelection just minutes before the state´s legal filing deadline Monday night, giving aspiring politicians in the district no heads up that he was doing so. The party´s move gives candidates an additional week, with the new filing deadline set for next Monday. Texas Republican Party spokesman Spencer Yeldell said the party was reopening the filing because it´s required by Texas´s election code. Stockman is facing a steep uphill
Hill staffers that signed up for ObamaCare through the Washington, D.C., healthcare exchange, called DC Health Link (DCHL), are being told to confirm their enrollments in person, and not to rely on data provided by the website. The Hill obtained an email sent to staffers on Wednesday warning them that “it is essential that you confirm your coverage in DCHL through the Disbursing Office.” “Do not rely on your ‘My Account’ page or other correspondence from DCHL,” the email reads. “Please do not assume you are covered unless you have seen the confirmation letter from the Disbursing Office,” the email continues. Hill workers had
The Obama administration expedited visa applications for about two dozen foreign investors for a Las Vegas casino hotel after pressure from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his staff, the Washington Times reported Tuesday. The Times, citing internal government documents, said the decision to overturn a prior, normally non-appealable visa decision ultimately benefited several companies whose executives have been heavy Democratic donors. The paper said it also came despite concerns about “suspicious financial activity” involving some Asian applicants. Reid, who represents Nevada, personally reached out to the top official at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Alejandro Mayorkas, setting in motion a process that
California’s budding doctor rebellion against Obamacare appears to be genuinely spontaneous, lacking leadership from a single individual or organization. As the Washington Examiner has reported in recent days, an estimated 70 percent of California´s physicians -- ranging from general practitioners to specialists -- are "just saying no" to Obamacare´s Covered California health insurance exchange. Although it appears leaderless, some observers believe that very spontaneity may make the doctor rebellion a formidable force in California’s health-care future. “Doctors are realizing what is happening and spontaneously they are acting like this. There’s a movement growing,” said Sally Pipes, president of the San Francisco-based
Democrats make a lot of silly statements. The trick isn’t finding a pronouncement by a liberal politician which — in a way nearly unique to politics — simultaneously brings a grimace, a giggle, and a groan, but figuring out whether the speaker is an outright liar or just living in a liberal echo chamber reminiscent of Pauline Kael (or at least the political mythology surrounding her). Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, is a reliable representative of the outright liar camp: No echo is loud enough to make her actually believe that Democratic candidates will
It’s long been said that Democrats and their supporters who cry “racism!” at everything that smells like opposition to their left-wing agenda are misguided, or in some cases, smear merchants who lack all credibility whatsoever (looking at you, MSNBC). Well, get a load of the T-shirt that this recently departed national figure – whose impeccable left-wing bonafides should never be doubted – has on:(Snip for photo)That’s anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela wearing a T-shirt that endorses getting an ID and voting in 1998. We’ll anxiously be waiting your apology. Oh wait, you won’t apologize, will you?
No, Obamacare isn’t Katrina for Democrats. Katrina was an act of God and/or nature, a phenomenon beyond the control of mere human beings, a catastrophe not of choice, but of nature’s necessity, outside the realm of man’s will. George W. Bush didn’t cause it to happen, nothing he did could have made it not happen, and he surely did not make it worse. The federal response wasn’t inspired, but the reason this mattered was that the mayor of New Orleans and the governor of Louisiana were not only perhaps the two stupidest people ever to hold public office, but the stupidest people
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
