| Cable news race commentator Michael Eric Dyson went on an extraordinary rant on MSNBC's "Now with Alex Wagner" about the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court case relating to affirmative action. Dyson was responding to criticism that President Obama's road was paved for him and how whites view affirmative action. "What is the complaint here? The complaint is when we mess up and we acknowledged that we've messed up, we have to pay the price for it. America tells us as black people, 'Pull yourself up by your bootstraps.' Then acknowledge what you did.
|
Comments: If a Republican said anything half as bad as this racist they would be excoriated by the media 24/7 for weeks. Nothing will ever make someone like Dyson happy. They thrive in their hate-filled world.

Obama was given a hand up in everything he did. I don't see what happened to him as Affirmative Action in the same way that many blacks were admitted to college or promoted simply by the system because of skin color. Obama was chosen by a select few elites to become what he has become. He didn't participate in AA programs. He was the product of specialized grooming by rich elites. It is more like a form of cronyism.

You got free labor, black intellectual power was used for your advantage.
If "others" were able to use the labor and intellectual power, how come the blacks weren't able to use it themselves?
It's not like "others" took it all and used it up ...

"Acknowledge what you did."
If people living in America today are responsible for what happened in previous centuries, is Dyson responsible for slavery in Africa today? Apparently he feels sharing a skin tone makes you libel for actions in the past, seems you would have even greater liability for actions in the present.

Affirmative action is a pig that no amount of lipstick can disguise. Americans recognize intuitively that it is inherently unjust and irrational - and that it perpetuates the very thing it aspires to combat, racism. When individuals are evaluated and judged on the color of their skin it is racism, regardless of the purported motives of the scheme. The remedy for racism is not more racism. The remedy for racism is to treat individuals AS individuals. All black people are not alike. It is an insult to them to maintain that skin color constitutes "diversity." One can be confident that when people talk about "diversity" what they actually mean is uniformity. All whites are this way, all blacks are that way, all Latinos are the other way, etc. Then there are homosexuals, Muslims, Wiccans, and all the other categories and collectivities that exist only in the mind. The "diversity" racket is collectivism through and through. It is the great scandal of America's universities that this wicked and corrupt cult had its birth and continues to draw its nourishment from the very venues in which critical and independent thinking was once upon cherished.

Africa consisted of tribes who were all black and they fought constantly. They also took captives and sold them into slavery. Slavery has no existed for many years - just one more thing for some blacks to whine about while not working, studying or thinking. There are many blacks that have been very successful, but they have to get up and get with it.

I am SO SICK of hearing this cr*p that I want to scream!
Dyson is, perhaps, a little more articulate than most race pimps, but the basic message is always the same: Gimme/Gimme More, Honky 'cause you owe me, simply based on the color of my skin.
Well, we've been giving you unearned, undeserved privilege and money throughout my lifetime. This sh** is about to come to a screeching halt! You want it? Earn it! You want what's mine? Better come armed...and prepared to die! I'm not giving it up anymore.
Crony capitalism is about to die under President Romney. Phony affirmative action will die, too.
Here's some valid affirmative action, suckah: In the New America (much like the Old America) everyone will be treated equally! It's character, Jack, NOT COLOR. Get that through your nappy skull!

The word diversity is interesting. The argument for diversity is that it adds to the intellectual fabric of a university campus. So affirmative action is applied to bring in diverse people. Here is what happens in most cases. Black separate orientation for new students, black separate graduation for those AA cases, where they wear kinte cloth to remind us they are of african descent.
In the classroom, blacks tend to sit together, and do not choose to enter into the diverse discussions they are supposed to bring to the campus. And when they eat at the cafeteria, they sit together, isolated from whites. And they have their own fraternities and sororities, and in one black fraternity, as part of initiation, the bruthas actually brand with a hot iron, the arms of the inductees. But no university bans that practice as inappropriate hazing.

Mentally picture all Continents on this planet. Now list the contributions of each continent. Where does Africa place? In 2012, in America, all people are created equal. No longer will some be considered MORE equal than others. You reap what you sow. My grandfathers were coal miners, as was my father. He struggled to get out of the mines and did so. IQ data can be culturally distorted, and on top of that - some of the most intelligent Caucasians I know have scored at moron level on IQ tests, my super-intelligent and successful father included. Furthermore, recently a poster here identified him or herself as black, and conservative. Call me a goody goody, but I wonder how they would feel if they read the post about IQ's....

#20: Thanks for posting.
First, while "IQ" and modes of measurement are hardly physics-rigorous, there's no question there is innate intelligence; no question that individuals possess it at differing levels; that more is better than less; and that it can be tracked, or be found to track with, certain other definable factors. As can other human characteristics like height, hair color, the propensity for left-handedness, lactose tolerance, and more.
"Cultural distortion" is an old canard. But maybe those attacks had it backward? Maybe generally-higher intelligence helped produce valuable cultures?
Single-data-point anecdotes don't provide information, especially about population-wide characteristics, which are the subject of #18. Further, any number of factors can be at work in the anecdotes mentioned. But the anecdotes cited do stipulate high intelligence, thus the examples actually reference dissonance between some reported individual IQ scores and observed levels of intelligence in certain individuals.
Last, subjective emotional reactions, already stipulated to be conjectural only, can't have, and can't be permitted, standing to reject, or perhaps worse, to suppress, legitimate, independent-third-party data. Thanks.

PANORAMA CITY — School board members have approved a plan to rename a San Fernando Valley elementary school after First Lady Michelle Obama. Los Angeles Unified board members voted unanimously Tuesday to name Valley Region Elementary School No. 13 after Mrs. Obama. The campus, which was opened last August to relieve overcrowding at nearby elementary schools, focuses on healthy eating for students, a cause championed by Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign. The First Lady was in Germany on Wednesday as President Obama meets with Prime Minister Angela Merkel and other leaders.

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz announced an amendment to the Senate immigration bill to block a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants on Wednesday. Cruz previously attempted to insert the amendment to prevent a pathway in the Judiciary Committee mark-up of the legislation. The Texas Republican has been a vocal opponent of allowing illegal immigrants a path to citizenship, explaining that is is unfair to those who waited in line to come to the country legally.“A path to citizenship is the most divisive aspect of this bill,” Cruz told “The Fine Point” earlier this month.

The federal government spends six times more on disaster recovery than helping communities become resilient to extreme weather that’s predicted to become more intense and frequent in a warming world, a new study shows. The analysis by the Center for American Progress (CAP), a prominent liberal think tank, labels the approach “pound foolish” and calls for a dedicated fund for “community resilience” fed by higher levies on fossil fuel production. “We must help communities enhance their ability to withstand the high winds, flood waters, scorching heat, searing wild fires, and parched earth from extreme weather,”

President Obama´s top climate adviser on Wednesday vowed that “meaningful” action on global warming was coming soon. Heather Zichal, the deputy assistant to the president on energy and climate change, said she didn’t want to get “in front of the big man” and unveil specific plans during an event in Washington, D.C. hosted by The New Republic. She spoke broadly, however, of bolstering energy efficiency, expanding clean energy on public lands and using various “tools” -- including the Clean Air Act -- to address climate. Zichal’s comments come as speculation grows that the administration is preparing sweeping

The FBI uses drones to watch specific targets within the United States, the bureau’s chief said Wednesday. FBI Director Robert Mueller told senators the agency uses drones infrequently for surveillance in the U.S. and only in regards to specific investigations. “Our footprint is very small,” Mueller said in testimony. “We have very few and have limited use.” Mueller made the revelation before the Senate Judiciary Committee after being questioned by the panel’s ranking member, Sen. Efforts to sell ObamaCare are ramping up ahead of October, when people can begin signing up for the new insurance exchanges, and January, when the exchange coverage kicks in. Many have speculated that the enrollment campaigns would benefit from a celebrity endorsement or partnership with a major sports league. The news of a possible collaboration between the White House and the NBA was reported by Politico, which cited health officials in

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
