| One spot Mitt Romney won't be hitting on the campaign trail: the Nickelodeon studios. The Republican presidential candidate declined an invitation from the children's network to participate in its "Kids Pick the President: The Candidates" special. According to a release from Nickelodeon, Romney's camp said he was unable to fit the taping into his schedule after multiple attempts from the network.(Snip) President Barack Obama sat down for a taping in the White House, where he answered questions regarding gun control, jobs, immigration, same-sex marriage, outsourcing, bullying and obesity, as well as light-hearted questions including his most embarrassing moment.

Yes! He's showing some dignity! And maybe he didn't want to be associated with a network that supports Jason Biggs' crude tweets about his wife.

Good decision. Nickolodeon has been on the wrong side. Let it stay there. And keep your kids away from it.

Mitt Romney once again shows the difference between being Presidential and pretending to be "presidential" in front of an audience of cheering children who don't know any better. Of course, obama could "squeeze" this appearance into his "busy schedule". He simply had to take a few minutes out of his daily wanderings as traveler-in-chief. As for his "most embarrassing moment"? That would be obama's entire life. BTW, Kids DON'T pick the President! Guess we can't expect Nickelodeon to understand that.

As far as we know, kids don't vote. So there. Ha.
Thanks, Mitt for standing up to the 'Do it for the chirruns' crowd.

How crass! Supporting Jason Biggs and his extremely nasty tweets about Ann Romney and Jenna (sp?) Ryan. Then trying to bolster their ratings (which should be in the toilet with Jason Biggs) by having him on the show? Nevah!!!

Given the political leanings of Nickelodeon's production staff and management, he couldn't risk being slimed 'by accident' on live TV.
Kids pick the president? The 2008 election proves the folly of that.

Good political instincts. They'd be looking for a "gotcha". This audience prefers the big butted Mooch, Big Bird, and Andrea "Pizza Face" Mitchell. It can have them.

It's time an adult took over, leave the kids alone. That is something that Zip would never understand. To clarify, Zip would never understand about being an adult, about taking over and leading from the front.

America is in decline, we are under constant threat from the jihadists, and our allies are wondering what happened to America's power.
Somehow I don't care a whit about Nickelodian or Children's Television Workship either for that matter.

I don't want to see my presidential candidate on trash TV shows. Thank you, Mitt.
Several years ago we were at Universal studios with grandson, sat in on one of the Nickelodeon shows and what an eye opener! G.A.R.B.A.G.E. and kids were eating it up.

Linda Ellerbee is a total leftie. It is so obvious when they do this show and I am glad Mitt passed. Also I saw those tweets yesterday for the first time and I was shocked at how bad they were. His wife had a very bad tweet at the same time calling 8th graders a nasty derogatory slang word. So bad. We are past the age of Nick in my house, but if I had kids I would be bummed out to have to stop watch anything of theirs.

Romney made an unscheduled stop at an elementary school the other day -- the kids were waving at his motorcade and he turned around and went back to visit with them. Real kids. Not made-for-TV kids.

On Melissa Harris-Perry Saturday morning, David Cay Johnston, an investigative reporter and professor at Syracuse University College of Law, lambasted the Obama Administration as hermetically sealed toward journalists, even in comparison to the Bush and Reagan administrations. Following a discussion on the President’s drone speech, in which the panel agreed that while drones are here to stay, the true problem is the lack of visibility and accountability into their use, Johnston expanded the point to a larger condemnation of the White House’s lack of transparency.

The emergency operating room where doctors tried to save President Kennedy´s life after he was shot has been broken into pieces and covertly stored in crates for years, guarded as if it were a state secret. As the 50th anniversary in November of the President´s assassination nears, an investigative team from local Dallas station WFAA went digging for the exact location of the broken tiles and medical equipment used on that fateful day. They found that the room was formally destroyed in 1972 when Parkland Hospital was going through an expansion and Trauma Room 1 had to be demolished.

CRAWFORD —Former President George W. Bush needed little help to blaze a trail Friday for 14 veterans mountain biking with him through open prairies, slick ravines and steep canyons. That’s because he brought the third annual Warrior 100K Ride — a three-day mountain biking trek to honor service members injured in Afghanistan and Iraq — to the well-worn paths at his Prairie Chapel Ranch outside of Waco. But even as Bush welcomed the wounded warriors to his home to thank them for their service, he made clear that his mission to help veterans extends well beyond the trails

Every Memorial Day, when I run into the grocery store to pick up those last minute items for the three day weekend’s picnic, I’m met with members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) selling their poppies. We cherish, too, the poppy red/ that grows on fields where valor led; It seems to signal to the skies/that blood of heroes never dies-- “We Shall Keep the Faith” by Moina Michael -I remember as a kid that it was very common to see paper poppies being sold around Memorial Day. You could even go to the post office and purchase one

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience
