Five things to watch in the
U.S. vice presidential debate

Washington - U.S. vice presidential debates usually don't matter much, but the October 11 showdown between Democratic incumbent Joe Biden and Republican challenger Paul Ryan could be an exception. Democrats are counting on Biden to blunt the momentum of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney (Snip) Biden and Ryan have shown a greater willingness to mix it up than their buttoned-down bosses, and both seem comfortable playing the traditional vice-presidential role of attack dog "I'd be surprised if there weren't far more fireworks in this debate than there were in the first presidential debate," said University of Maine political science professor

Comments:
Democrats are counting on Joe Biden? Man, if so that's the biggest indication of desperation so far.

I fear this one will depend on the coin toss--who goes last and gets the last word? If it is Biden he will lay low and feign dignity through the debate until he attempts a knockout, at the end, with a nasty, loud dose of vitriolic dishonesty. Count on a naked dump of character assassination.

Biden will attempt to overshadow anything Ryan says with constant interruptions and obnoxious, baseless accusations. He will ignore the questions asked and instead answer what he wished they had asked.

The five things I'm watching for are Ryan's knuckle sandwich to Biden's jaw. Metaphorically speaking of course.

5 things to watch for from Joe Biden:

1)Stupid
2)is
3)as
4)stupid
5)does.

I remember that four years ago, Sarah Palin wiped the floor with Joe Biden. I hope that Paul Ryan can duplicate that. If he does, Romney will be in good shape.

a. First, a question. Is there another guy named Joe Biden the Dems are gonna send?

b. OK. Five Things to Watch

1. the microwave timer [burned popcorn smell lingers -- nasty]
2. where you put your open can of beer
3. your BP, if you have issues with it [Biden's not worth it, friends]
4. the "Ring Girls" -- the only hope of keeping people tuned in is if ABC uses "Ring Girls" jiggling across the stage in bikinis with signs showing the number of the next segment
5. something else, anything else -- try a new network you've never watched, like Nick Junior or QVC or OWN -- no, no, belay that last, no, not Oprah. Sorry.

You cannot fix stupid in six days. Biden will show, again, his penchant for borrowing other peoples work and attempting to pass it off as his own. I suspect Congressman Ryan will wipe the floor with this hair plugged dolt.....

Reuters...rhymes with Hooters does its' best to put lipstick on the hardwood known as Plugs Biden and turn it into intelligence. Joe's gonna blow your mind when he shows up in the Trans Am. Seriously, I think that after the way Ryan handled Obama in the past, he shouldn't have too much trouble with this comedian who thinks he's smart.

Biden will become increasingly unhinged. Ryan needs to step carefully. Remember the old adage, "Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you to death with their experience."

Palin whooped him . . . Ryan will annihilate him. With an honest, good-natured smile on his face.

Considering what he's got to sell, Biden better be good...

The main thing I think Ryan has to worry about is not beating him up too bad. Liberals rally around victims & he must not let Biden seem like a victim. Gore did that to GW in his debate -- he walked over to him & tried to tower over him. It made him lose just enough of his base to lose the election.

He needs to treat him with respect & dignity (for the office of the VP if nothing else), while showing how ridiculous their administration has been.

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

CNN’s Peter Hamby reported that Mitt Romney‘s internal polling showed President Obama leading in Ohio by five percentage points.Per Hamby’s post: The number represented a sharp final bump for Obama in Ohio, a race that had essentially been a tied race through much of the previous week, according to the campaign’s daily tracking. The polling, which also showed a tight race in Pennsylvania, explains why Romney officials decided to send their candidate on last-minute Election Day visits to Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

The Obama and Romney campaigns may be gearing up for a very late night, with one Obama campaign adviser predicting that in Florida alone, "they'll be counting until 2 a.m." The Obama adviser said signs suggest the race is quite tight, though the campaign claimed to be "holding strong" in key battlegrounds like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The adviser also said turnout among black voters in Virginia was better than expected, suggesting that could be a problem for Mitt Romney. Republican operatives in Virginia, though, predicted a razor-thin victory for their candidate in the state.

Washington - Early returns on Tuesday in what is anticipated to be a dead even presidential election contained no surprises, as CNN projected President Barack Obama will win his home state of Illinois and eight other races while Republican challenger Mitt Romney will win nine states. All races called so far went as expected after the roller-coaster ride of an election campaign that was buffeted by a superstorm and missteps on both sides. Obama and Romney ran dead even in final polls that hinted at a result rivaling some of the closest presidential elections in history, reflecting the deep political

A week after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, a majority of voters said President Barack Obama’s response to the crisis wasn’t a factor in their vote, according to early exit polls. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed, per CBS News’ early exit polling released by radio station WKZO in Kalamazoo, Mich., said Obama’s handling of the storm was a minor factor in their vote or wasn’t a factor at all. Twenty-six percent named Sandy as an “important” factor, and 15 percent said it was the “most important” factor in their decision.

Mitt Romney is leading among independents in both Ohio and Virginia, early exit polls show. In Ohio, the former Massachusetts governor takes 56 percent of self-identified independents, compared with 40 percent for President Barack Obama. That’s a huge decrease for Obama from 2008, when the exit polls found him winning independents in Ohio by 12 points, 52 percent to 44 percent for John McCain. The numbers are similar but slightly tighter in Virginia: Romney takes 53 percent of independents there, according to ABC News exit polls, a 12-point lead over Obama. In 2008, Obama won independents in the state by

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care?
