Security team pulled
out of Libya in August

The blundering boobs at the State Department recalled a 16-man security team in August just as the Libyan diplomats were asking for more security, not less. (Snip) Lt. Col. Wood has told CBS News and congressional investigators that his 16-member team and a six-member State Department elite force called a Mobile Security Deployment team left Libya in August, just one month before the Benghazi assault. Wood says that's despite the fact that US officials in Libya wanted security increased, not decreased. Wood says he met daily with Stevens and that security was a constant challenge. There were 13 threats

Comments:
For at least six months they were aware of the danger to our people in Benghazi.

State Department is part of the Executive Branch. Long ago there was a democrat president that said the buck stopped at the President's desk. It would be nice to have a real leader occupying the office of the President.

Unbelievable. This is simply monstrous. How can Lady Macbeth live with herself after this debacle. And why was it allowed to happen? Surely the State Department knew the attack was an ever-increasing possibility. Was there some sort of political angle to ignoring the warnings or simple, inexcusable incompetence?

I am sure the MSM will want answers...or not.

The next debate will be partially on foreign policy, but the third debate on Oct 22 will be exclusively on foreign policy. In the meantime we have some Congressional inquiry, and further facts will come in from many quarter about this entire 9/11 Libyan attack and administration aftermath. So in the third debate Gov Romney should have a ton of Benghazi data on which to nail Obama and his much touted but utterly faux strength in national security. The killing of bin Laden was a tactical victory for Obama, but Benghazi lays bare the strategic failure of Obama's apologetic and leading from behind policies. Romney must exploit these failures in that debate in a big way. Rhetorical questions by Romney may be the order of the day, e.g. Mr. President, knowing that X had happened, how could you conceivably...? And pull no punches...e.g. Who ordered Susan Rice to knowingly disinform the American people and why would she do this, sir???

Grab onto BenghaziGate, Gov Romney, and stay on it like a junk yard dog. The administration's weak, leaderless and irresponsible actions before, during and after 9/11 in Benghazi is a target rich environment for the debate, utterly indefensible on so many levels. And unlike many subjects this election, you don't have to be a wonk to understand it. So exploit it, Governor.

No, sixteen Green Berets could probably not fight off a couple of terrorists lobbing RPGs into fixed targets, unless they could call in a B-1 to flatten everything within two miles and that wasn't likely to happen, and even then it might happen just too late.

But one Green Beret with an iPhone could have told Stevens not to go there on 9/11.

Oh, oh, that Lt Col better stay out of that famous DC park. If he does, than he will be drummed out of the service and receive no retirement benefits whatsoever. How dare he tell the truth?

Joe Biden spoke last night in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month. Biden has long, deep ties to the Jewish community — Obama actually picked him in 2008 in part to reassure skittish Jewish Democrats. Biden indeed offered fulsome, heartfelt praise in his remarks, before wandering into highly uncomfortable terrain and delivering a speech that is likely to be quoted by anti-Semites for years and decades to come. (It’s already the subject of excited discussion among the white supremacist community.)

Grief and politics don´t mix. When raw, aching grief and the dirtiest kind of politics meet, a hot volcano of pain and outrage erupts that is unstoppable. But it is necessary.(Snip)before Benghazi, there was Extortion 17, the call sign of a special operations mission in Afghanistan on Aug. 6, 2011. Three months after the strike on Osama bin Laden, 30 Americans -- including 15 from the bin Laden strike-team unit, Navy SEAL Team 6, and two other SEALs -- were killed in the costliest single-day loss for the U.S. military in the Afghanistan war, and the largest SEAL loss

A faulty steering apparatus may bring an early end to NASA’s Kepler space telescope, a $600 million tool in the space agency’s quest for life elsewhere in the universe. Kepler is the first NASA mission capable of finding Earth-size planets in or near the habitable zone, the range of distance from a star where the surface temperature of an orbiting planet might be suitable for liquid water. Launched in 2009, it has discovered thousands of such planets, including a pair just 1,200 light years away.(Snip) But yesterday, Kepler’s mission ran into trouble.

The Internal Revenue Service last year supplied a left-leaning nonprofit charity with confidential information about conservative organizations, which the charity disseminated to the public, ProPublica reported yesterday. The charity in question was ProPublica itself. We should acknowledge that "left-leaning" is our characterization; ProPublica describes itself in its own tax filings as "entirely non-partisan and non-ideological." ProPublica is legally obliged to be nonpartisan, for it enjoys tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, which means that contributions to it are tax-deductible.

If it is proven that the IRS thwarted some groups from obtaining tax-exempt status in fear that their traditional or conservative messages might hurt the 2012 Obama campaign (especially if it did so under pressure from White House-affiliated operatives), and if it is proven that the Obama administration deliberately ignored warnings about lax security at the Benghazi consulate, missed real opportunities to send help, or deliberately massaged intelligence reports in order to mislead the pre-election public about the true nature of Benghazi in order to further a false campaign narrative of a near dormant al-Qaeda

IS CONSERVATIVE THE new radical? The fashion world certainly seems to think so. This season, designers filled their runways with restrained silhouettes that echo the graceful, showing-less-is-more aesthetic of generations past. Designers are reimagining soignée staples for spring and summer—skirt suits, twin sets, below-the-knee dresses, kitten heels and frame bags—that appear anything but moth-eaten. In fact, fashion´s neoconservative coup d´état feels deliciously defiant, given the excessively revealing styles pop culture celebrates. A quick flip through any supermarket tabloid yields an

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
