| Lt. Col. Andy Wood, a Utah National Guard Army Green Beret who was the top security official at the United States consulate in Libya, has been subpoenaed by congressional investigators for an upcoming hearing on the deadly Benghazi attacks last month. Wood headed a site security team in Libya. (Snip) Sources said to be familiar with the Libya operation told lawmakers that 13 threats were made in the six months leading up to the Benghazi incident, with repeated requests made for additional security that were denied.

I'll give you a topic:
1: Stevens knew something and needed to be taken care of somehow...this seemed a plausible solution but it backfired.
or
2: 0 needed to look tough near the election. So Stevens was 'sacrificed' as it were, for the greater good so 0 could launch some drone strikes.

It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
