| What happened to Samantha Pawlucy, also known as Romney Girl, most likely feeds into every conservative Pennsylvanian's perception of our city as a cesspool of Democratic liberals. At her public school a week ago Friday, the Port Richmond sophomore says she was dissed on dress-down day because she had the temerity to wear a Romney/Ryan T-shirt, embracing the minority group our city least tolerates: Republicans. Geometry teacher Lynette Gaymon told Samantha that Charles Carroll High - a model of diversity with an enrollment that's one-third black, one-third white, and a third Latino - was a "Democratic" school. In Philadelphia

Fair warning, if you have issues with blood pressure, do not read this article. FTA:"Consider the reaction of Republican legislators in Harrisburg, who control almost half the district's annual funding. Yes, they must think, those Philadelphians sure are a bunch of ungrateful, GOP-hating, obscenity-spewing, race-obsessed miscreants. The only silver lining is that the budget won't be debated until spring. By that time, perhaps Republicans - the same ones who attempted to disenfranchise Philadelphia through voter ID - will have forgotten this mess." Stunning.

I read that the school had already OK'd these shirts. It broke no rule.
The black teacher was way out of line, along with her non-teaching assistant. They should be disciplined. And maybe a good lawsuit against the district would give everyone a teachable moment?

We didn't need to be told that the teacher was black - it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. American schools are full of these embittered black teachers and no matter what they do they are never fired.

Race has became a bigger issue since hussein was elected. The blacks have their icon in the WH and now they can do and say whatever.

At some point we need to come to the realization that leftists of the Democrat party, where they find their power, are willfully ignorant of the principles in a Democratic Republic and represent great danger to the nation. When half the population falls under the spell of a group that is prepared to remove the greatest freedoms of the citizens then the differences between parties are no longer political. And we should begin to treat these people as enemies of our very way of life and values as a free people.
I know longer look upon acquaintances who are liberal Democrats as simply those who have different political thinking. They now represent an adversary attempting to brainwash my grandchildren in public education, limit freedom of speech through political correctness and desirous of tearing down the very fabric of the culture.
These people must be defeated.

The writer had a good idea for the article but couldn't help lacing it with a multitude of insults to Republicans. She is all too proud that Reps in the city are treated with intolerance and a lack of respect. In short, she is a typical liberal Democrat piece of crap.

Don't care about anyone's color. I care that teacher's a narrow-minded intolerant slacker. To these people spouting "diversity", there can be no dissent.

The teachable moment. Yeah, the lesson learned is, whatever it takes, get your kid out of public schools as quickly as you can. All it takes is just one bad teacher to ruin your child's academic future. The problem is that in public schools it is impossible to get rid of the bad teachers. On the contrary, the school administrators are typically just as bad and will fully support them.

#1, as to blood pressure, the comment that the student's father has never voted, but would have voted for Obama, and his mother backs Obama because he is handsome and speaks well, was enough to get my pressure up.
But Dad's for Romney now, because Romney has a plan and Dad has four kids to support and isn't making enough.
#2, there's a Supreme Court decision that says students don't leave their First Amendment rights at the schoolhouse door. However, that doesn't stop idiots from attacking people who don't think the way they do.

I nominate "Samantha Pawlucy, also known as 'Romney Girl'" for the first "Broken Glass" voter award for her brave stand in the face of unrelenting ridicule in a public school of intolerant idiots.
Anyone second this nomination?

In the last election, a liberal writer as an experiment wore McCain tee shirts around town in Democratic precincts, and Obama tee shirts in Republican areas. To his credit, he dutifully reported that he was frequently and overtly hassled by complete strangers when wearing the McCain tee shirts, but only received one or two disapproving looks when wearing the Obama tee shirts. Most Republicans maintain a low public profile in their attire and speech, starting with the bumper stickers they avoid putting on their cars. Democrats understand the same thing, which is why our daughter cautioned us to say nothing political while she gave us a tour of Columbia University, where she was enrolled as a graduate student.

Islamabad - Four US soldiers have been killed in an attack in Afghanistan hours after the US announced it will engage in its first formal direct talks with the Taliban after dropping its long-standing demand that the movement renounce ties with al-Qaeda in order for them to progress. A US official said insurgents attacked Bagram Air Base with "indirect fire", suggesting the soldiers were killed by mortars or rockets. There were very few details of the attack, which threatens to impact on the US´s first formal direct talks with the Taliban, due to start on Thursday. One key condition

Amazon and other e-commerce firms are cutting ties with all Minnesotans who earn money by posting links that send traffic to online merchants after lawmakers passed a tweak to state sales tax law. Minnesota E-Fairness legislation, signed by Gov. Mark Dayton on May 23 and going into effect July 1, classifies independent bloggers and online reviewers as a physical presence of a business in the state. This means online companies who pay these people to generate new sales must collect tax not just on those sales, but on all sales in the state. The tax on online

NEW YORK - You might think that moving to a state with no income tax would greatly simplify your tax life. Not so fast. If you´re not careful, it could greatly complicate things and cost you tons in back taxes and penalties. For example, if you are still planning to spend significant time in your former state, you better limit it to less than 183 days. Why? Spending any more time there could mean you´ll be treated as a resident of that state and therefore have to pay tax. And it´s not just days spent in-state

NEW YORK -- At perhaps a bad time in U.S. employment, it seems there´s a "perception gap" between what workers think they´re worth on the job and how employers see them. Analysis by Bryant & Stratton College with help from Wakefield Research from a survey among U.S. adults age 18 to 34 found that 80% of workers believe they are "job ready and possess all the skills, experience and education needed to advance in their desired career path or obtain their next job." Yet 40% of U.S. employers say most entry-level job candidates lack even the basic skills needed

BERLIN/FRANKFURT - European car sales plunged last month to their lowest May level in two decades, eroding manufacturers´ hopes for a recovery this year after a rebound the month before. Figures on Tuesday from the Association of European Carmakers showed Germany, France and Italy, accounting for about half of the embattled region´s sales, suffered declines at or near double-digit percentage levels. Registrations across the 27-nation European Union dropped 5.9 percent to 1.04 million cars from 1.11 million a year ago, the lowest since May 1993 when sales fell below 1 million, the Association said.

Turkey warned on Monday it may bring in the army to help quell nearly three weeks of nationwide anti-government protests as two major union federations went on strike over police violence against demonstrators. The government raised the threat of putting soldiers on the streets after a weekend of violent clashes sparked by the eviction of campers occupying Istanbul´s Gezi Park, the epicentre of the protest movement. Police "will use all their powers" to end the unrest, deputy prime minister Bulent Arinc said in a televised interview. "If this is not enough, we can even utilise the Turkish armed forces

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

During his interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl this morning, Rubio didn’t even seem to understand what that meant. “Are you being played by the Democrats?” asked Karl. “Is Chuck Schumer playing you?” “I don’t — I quite frankly, I don’t even know what that means,” Rubio replied. “Is he using you?” Karl continued. “Is he using you to try to accomplish something that the Democrats want and is not — not a conservative bill?” Rubio responded that immigration reform was a bi-partisan issue that “all Americans

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
