$1.2 billion examples of ABC News' bias
Fox News, by L. Brent Bozell, III

Original Article

The slimiest news coverage of 2012 has nothing to do with the presidential election. It concerns a massive ABC News campaign against an American beef company. Led by national correspondent Jim Avila, the network bombarded a South Dakota firm with a seemingly endless barrage of stories claiming that its lean beef was – it doesn’t get uglier than this – “pink slime.” According to that company, ABC’s reports cost it hundreds of millions of dollars, and cost more than 700 people their jobs. Now that company is suing ABC – for $1.2 billion. The heart of ABC’s campaign lasted nearly a month

I soon expect to see the football--the broke football player who went through 29 million bucks, to be the new spokesman for PETA, Mr. Vick--the dog lover.

Then ABC will ramp up it's desire to be "sensitive" to those not liking the taste of beef, pork and for that matter any meat product.

It's the right thing to do, the right side of the coin to be on, and the right way thinking all Americans must come to embrace...right?

Ask your government.

If you read the bio at ABC about Jim Avila, you'll see that he's working with government agencies in his investigative reporting work. Also, he's worked for multiple news organizations in ~wait for it~ Chicago as well as other liberal strongholds like LA and SF. ABC also reports that Jim started his career in journalism as a Managing Editor and was later promoted to Bureau Chief. No dues paying years apparently for Jim Avila. Funny how that works.

Presence of malice, clearly. Avila must also be sued and lose everthing he has and ever will have--assuming the suit is true, of course.

This article is enlightening, especially considering how many of us were duped by ABC's false propaganda.
Politics is not the only thing ABC spins.

But there is no bias in the news...as they would have you think.
This is a News industry running unchecked. They could hardly have done more damage to this company if they had a vendetta against them. I hope there is a decisive judgement against ABC, but expect it to take years.
It also occurs to me that "As They Would Have You Think" would be a good book title for an exposé on the bias in the MSM in general, particularly where it involves the promotion and perpetual support of an un-vetted Presidential candidate and President. Maybe this is the first real ray of sunshine on a "slimy" industry!

I really hope they win. Maybe, just maybe, this financial punishment might force the idiots mismanaging ABC to hire some sane, honest people actually interested in fair and even handed news.

I am very skeptical, but with a large enough financial loss with a CLEAR cause, it might make a dent.

The leftist fools have ignored the massive damage that they have caused to newspapers and to most other "news" outlets with their relentless communist propaganda - driving away about 50-60% of their former customers in disgust at their extreme bias. This is just written off to bad luck and changing technology, so it has had near zero impact on the leftist drumbeat of "news".

Maybe the cause of this financial loss will be clear enough for the fools to grasp.

Of course, the root cause is that most people with any brains do not seek a career in "journalism" - so 99% of "journalists" are pretty stupid.

Jim Avila used to be a street reporter for a local Los Angeles television outlet. He did good reporting on train wrecks and other types of disasters. He was heavier, usually casually dressed, an entirely different type from the slimmed down, barbered, slick-suited New York type that he has become.

The Diane Sawyerification of a good reporter into one who produces those *shocking* reports that make her trill with outrage like Hyacinth Bucket.

Rethinking my comment that Jim Avila (born Jim Simon according to Wikipedia) was a good reporter, he seemed to be a good reporter. He covered the O. J. Simpson trial for Los Angeles's KNBC.

When individuals in broadcasting change their surnames to something ethnic sounding line "Avila" or "Ono" (David Ono's surname was grabbed from his mother), we know what they're up to. The big AA.

Here´s a lesson in online security: Passwords are important. They keep your information safe. Crucially, they also prevent other people from impersonating you. Unfortunately, one of The Switch´s readers learned that the hard way. On a story explaining how the Heartbleed bug could slow down the Internet, a commenter scoffed at the "Heartbleed thingamajig," arguing that the Internet´s handwringing over security was mostly overwrought: I couldn´t give a flying fig about the Heartbleed thingamajig. Two years already the thing has been running loose ... and not a word of someone crying over its damage. Say ... does anyone really know its origin?

Proponents of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) insist that the law will extend health insurance to millions, expand access to health care, and improve Americans’ overall health. But, as the New York Times recently reported, at least 20 percent of the new enrollees have not paid their premiums. They therefore do not really have insurance. But even for those enrollees paying premiums, having health insurance is not the same thing as getting good health care, or any health care. In fact, it doesn’t matter how many Americans obtain insurance under the ACA. Most will have difficulty finding a physician. Many Americans

Exactly forty years ago Patricia Hearst stunned the nation when she turned up as a bank robber, a mere two months after she was kidnapped by the violent cult that called itself “The Symbionese Liberation Army.” Her astonishing transformation was documented by bank cameras on April 15, 1974. There she was — granddaughter of William Randolph “Citizen Kane” Hearst — wielding a sawed-off assault rifle and terrorizing people in a bank. She had recently announced in a taped SLA communique that she had voluntarily joined the SLA in its fight against the “fascist” United States. She took the nom de

A few years ago, the corruption convictions of several prominent plaintiffs´ lawyers put a spotlight on dishonesty in American civil courts. Now the sleaze has burst back into the news with cases involving Chevron and Dole Food Co., this time with an international twist. Last month, a federal court in Manhattan found that a U.S. plaintiffs´ lawyer had masterminded a multibillion dollar fraud and extortion scheme against Chevron in Ecuador. Three days later, a California appellate court affirmed the dismissal of a lawsuit against Dole as a "fraud on the court" perpetrated by U.S. and Nicaraguan plaintiffs´ lawyers. These rulings are welcome

NFL players have Most Valuable Player awards. Major League Baseball players strive for Cy Youngs and Gold Gloves. For journalists, it´s the Pulitzer. Every year, when Pulitzers are announced, most of them are awarded to big corporate media outlets with huge staffs and budgets devoted specifically to the contest. But not always. On Monday, David Philipps, an investigative reporter for the Colorado Springs Gazette, claimed a Pulitzer for his three-day series, Other Than Honorable. Philipps exposed the shameful treatment of members of the U.S. military, many of them wounded combat veterans, in the drawdown of American military forces. Too often,

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you
