Campaign 2012: When an incumbent Democratic president is virtually tied in a congressional district he carried by high double digits in 2008, and is losing in the suburbs of his hometown, there could be trouble brewing. In August, a poll by the Joliet, Ill.-based polling firm of McKeon and Associates, found President Obama leading challenger Mitt Romney in Cook County, which includes Chicago and its suburbs, by a 12-point margin 49-37. That would seem to be a comfortable edge, but it is significantly smaller than traditional margins needed to outweigh
Outside of Cook County Illinois is pretty red. Cook County residents outside of the city are fuming at property taxes...and everyone I know is upset over the 66% income tax hike, and the doubling of tolls on the Toll roads.
Remember we elected a Republican Senator in 2010, several more to statewide offices and the Governor won by a squeak. His opponent could have challenged him.
Obama only won in Illinois becaause of his dirty tricks, and then the replacement, Alan Keyes (good man that he is) was from Maryland and said he didn't know if he would move his family to Illinois if he won.. Obama was an unknown outside of his Chicago district, he won by default.
The rest of us are boiling mad...Waiting in the weeds ready to strike on election day.
Their approach is in this manner: whichever votes are not automatically theirs (theirs, meaning parasites, communists, felons, the dead, illegals, fellow thugocrats) they will buy. Any votes they cannot buy, they will manufacture.
I have been posting that Illinois will be in play by Halloween. Watch the Chicago vote, and the black vote in particular. Black ministers have not been happy about the gay marriage endorsement; black leaders have not been happy about Obama not delivering jobs; black businessmen have not been happy about the stalled economy. Add to that the Olympics that Obama tried to bring to Chicago that would have meant bucket loads of money for his big money backers but would have gutted black neighborhoods to build. He sold out black Chicago, and is now headed to Hawaii to retire. So what do they owe HIM?
Black Chicago doesn't have to vote for Romney. All they have to do is not show up. None of us will ever know beforehand. All word of mouth, passed from ministers and leaders to parishioners and friends one at a time. "Stay home."
All Chicago, and specifically Black Chicago, has to do is not show up, and downstate hands Illinois to Romney. Watch for it. Listen for the black leaders peelling off, one by one. Chicago NAACP head is just the latest.
If an unappealing candidate like our governor, Pat Quinn, can marshal the union vote to put himself over the top, Obama can do that and more. He will win Chicago, including the black vote, which will turn out for him, just like they did for Emanuel in early 2011. I have seen maybe two Romney stickers in Chicago this election season but many 2012 (Obama) stickers, not to mention all the Obama logos and other Obama stuff on peoples' cars. Romney will win or come close in the outer suburbs, but the close-in ones, the ones with the most votes, will go for Obama. I have seen no Obama ads here, which tells me that their polls tell them that Illinois is a lock. And it is. You can take it to the bank.
It would be great but I don't see it happening. Governor Sock-Puppet only carried three counties yet won the election. The Dems will find the votes they need to put Barry over the top by any means necessary, and both the Attorney General (Daughter of the de facto ruler of IL, House Speaker Michael Madigan) and the US Attorney Pat Fitzgerald will turn a blind eye to it all.
Political Correctness: Its force structure decimated by sequestration and budget cuts, the Marine Corps considers exchanging its proud and honored look for hats similar to the gendarmes who direct traffic in Paris. If sequestration´s annual spending cuts continue past this year, the Marine Corps will lose 8,000 in troop strength, Commandant Gen. James F. Amos told the Defense Writers Group in June. But those who remain will at least be fashion-conscious if a proposal for changes in their dress headgear goes forward. Men and women in the Marines
Junk Science: Al Gore, patron saint of climate fraud, argues with Australia´s prime minister that its brushfires are not caused by warming and that the record shows the koala bear, like the polar bear, is quite safe. They were the largest Australian bushfires in a populous region in recorded history, consuming half the state of Victoria, claiming 12 lives and destroying an estimated 1 million sheep and thousands of cattle. And they occurred in February 1851 during one of the coldest years on record. Bushfires have been part of Australian life for centuries
Energy: The Golden State´s governor has signed legislation that regulates but does not ban the technology that has sparked an energy boom nationwide — and which may yet restore the state to solvency. If any state were to ban hydraulic fracturing, commonly referred to as fracking, the process that releases oil and natural gas trapped in porous shale formations, one would think it would be California. Gov. Jerry Brown, who leads the government in a state that hosted Solyndra and embraces endangered bird-chopping wind turbines,
Scandal: A deadly battle involving grenades between a drug cartel and Mexican police has added to the toll of lives taken with weapons trafficked by suspects that U.S. officials watched but did not stop. The same Obama administration officials responsible for letting thousands of weapons walk into Mexico and right into the hands of drug cartels in Operation Fast and Furious also passed on several opportunities to arrest and prosecute an arms smuggler who was busy supplying the cartels with hand grenades. This according to a report by Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News, the one reporter
Corruption: The crash-prone government health-care site asks applicants if they want to register to vote as they try to sign up for ObamaCare. By sheer coincidence, a plurality of the uninsured are likely Democratic voters. Call it Motor Voter on steroids — the piggybacking of voter registration to an otherwise unrelated government function. Those trying to navigate Healthcare.gov, a website that looks and functions as if designed by the department of motor vehicles, are being asked if they want to register to vote just in time for crucial 2014 midterm elections
Regulation: From lost jobs to fewer hours to premium hikes that would make a loan shark drool, Barack Obama´s home state is a case study in why the first rule in health care reform, as in medicine, should be to do no harm. The president and his cohorts in the media have long accused Republicans of being out of touch with ordinary people. Remember the concocted story about President Bush the elder being so out of touch he was unfamiliar with supermarket bar-code scanners? But it´s President Obama who´s out of touch with ordinary people
Health Care: In a stunning admission, our Health and Human Services secretary admits ObamaCare is part of the fundamental transformation of America away from a free market in anything to a nanny state on steroids. Maybe Kathleen Sebelius was being sarcastic, or maybe she thought it might be a good way to reach the "young invincibles" who feel they had better things to do with their money than enroll in ObamaCare. But her recent appearance on Jon Stewart´s show on Comedy Central went about as well as ObamaCare´s train wreck of a rollout.
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. According to reports, Mr Obama and his delegation are stuck in a lines of traffic caused by tens of thousands of people making their way to the event. Mr Obama is among the foreign leaders who
