Chris Matthews Goes After
Jack Welch In Brutal Battle
Over Unemployment Numbers

Former General Electric CEO Jack Welch appeared on Hardball with Chris Matthews on Friday to defend his assertion that the Bureau of Labor Statistics survey which surge in employment forcing the unemployment metric down from 8.1 percent to 7.8 percent is flawed. The interview between Matthews and Welch quickly descended into a heated debate over the veracity of the BLS figures and the charge that there was a corrupt effort to rig the unemployment rate to help President Barack Obama win reelection. “We had 600,000 government jobs added

Welch is too nice a guy. He should have said, as have others, that no matter which numbers are used, it doesn't come to 7.8%, and that the BLS has either turned incompetent in performing a regular and key agency task, or the books were cooked...adding that perhaps it will be time for a Congressional investigation after the Romney inauguration to get to the cause.

We have a current administration in power that lies about Fast and Furious and Benghazi, so is it really difficult to believe that they would not lie about the unemployment figures. They will do anything to remain in power………….anything.

And who would believe anything the leftist hoe matthews had to say anyway

I didn't know that state and local governments were hiring. Oh, their not. Who does that leave? I would like to know the average monthly hiring of federal govt workers since 0bama took office. Plug that figure in rather than the 600,000 for the last two months, and lets see what the unemployment rate is.

Chrissy is unarmed and unmatched. Welch has a PhD in Economics (or math or something like that). He used to teach at the university level.

Still amazed at the number of normally sane people who will subject themselves to the lunacy of this "news" network and [re Mark Levin] their conga line of freaks.

Now here's an unequal match if there ever was one. Jack Welch, a financial and business expert being criticized by a hack media gasbag.

Hey, Chrissy, next time you want to match wits with an intellect, you'll have to grow a brain.

#14, you have it dead right. Jack Welch managed one of the largest manufacturers in the world and forgot more about economics than the entire staff of MSNBC ever knew. These numbers stink to high heaven and the possibility of them being correct is plus or minus 1 point of zero!

Look around and see how many of your friends got a job, lost one, or is still looking. Has the value of your home skyrocketed or are you still underwater? Did you get a raise or are you paying a larger share of your benefits?

Finally how did you like that last fillup at the gas station? If you liked that little bit of trickle down economics, wait until January 1st! Oh and when Obamacare starts kicking in that'll really put the icing on the cake!

Saw Jack Welch calling Lizzie Warren a snake too, almost two years ago on CNBC business news.

Somebody over the next few days will figure out how Obama cooked the books just a couple weeks from the election. But like what Rush was saying yesterday, people don't believe the government lies to them, even though Obama has been a serial liar for 5 years.

I have to wonder about the job security of the 600,000 government orders that have been hied in the past two months.

The man shot dead by an FBI agent in Orlando, Florida early today was "about to sign a statement" admitting to a role, along with Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, in an unsolved triple murder in Massachusetts in 2011, two people with direct knowledge of the case told ABC News. Ibragim Todashev "just went crazy," and pulled a knife during his interview with the FBI, said state and federal law enforcement officials briefed on the latest strange twist in the investigation of the Boston Marathon bombing. WASHINGTON- Senator Elizabeth Warren has found a publisher two months after the Massachusetts Democrat began shopping her book proposal. Henry Holt and Company, one of the nation’s oldest publishers, announced it had obtained the rights to publish the book, which it characterized as telling both “Senator Warren’s improbable rise from a working class family in Oklahoma to the United States Senate,” as well as providing “a rousing call for protecting the middle class.” The book will be published in the spring of 2014 and will be edited by John Sterling, who is editor at large for Macmillan,

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. A large majority of Americans hold a bleak outlook on the state of morality in the United States, as 72% said the nation’s moral values are “getting worse,” and only 20% said that moral values are “getting better,” according to a recent Gallup survey. The poll specifically showed that Americans who attend church weekly, are married, or are Republican, were the most negative about the country’s moral direction. But even Democrats, people who attend church infrequently, and the unmarried had high negative outlooks about the nation’s moral values. In the telephone survey of 1,535 adults

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa on Wednesday displayed a string of emails showing his failed efforts to get an update from the Treasury Department inspector general’s office about its investigation into the IRS practice of targeting conservative groups who sought tax-exempt status. Emails seeking the information date back to September 2012, six weeks before the November election. At that point, the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration had promised an update. Based on other evidence provided to the committee, the inspector general was aware of the IRS practice of targeting conservative groups

Piled high amid a trail of destruction, these tragic horses are among more than 100 thought to have been killed in the Oklahoma tornado. As well as human lives that were lost, farms around the suburb of Moore took a direct hit from the giant twister which swept up everything in its path with winds of more than 200mph and the power of up to 600 nuclear bombs. Witnesses who cowered in terror described seeing ´horses and stuff flying around everywhere´ and returning to find ´scorched earth´ and crumpled buildings. They came across distressing scenes of horses

A mother-of-two described tonight how she put her own life on the line by trying to persuade the soldier’s murderers to hand over their weapons. Cub scout leader Ingrid Loyau-Kennett selflessly engaged the terrorists in conversation and kept her nerve as one of them told her: “We want to start a war in London tonight.” Mrs Loyau-Kennett, 48, from Cornwall, was one of the first people on the scene after the two Islamic extremists butchered a soldier in Woolwich, south east London. She was photographed by onlookers confronting one of the attackers who was holding a bloodied knife.

Former Rep. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
