CNN's Candy Crowley: Debate
moderators 'need to take control' sometimes

CNN’s Candy Crowley said Friday that debate moderators “need to take control” at some points because “you want the conversation to move.” Crowley, who will be moderating the Oct. 16 presidential debate, said this week’s debate showed that Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama “are both going to take whatever time they feel they can get to put their views out.” “The interesting thing to me is that everybody was talking about Jim when it was over and I paid no attention to him simply because I’m sitting there writing down where I saw holes in their arguments thinking

Will she give 'Bam 4 extra minutes like he got in the 1st debate?

Just like JournoList collaborators took control of whitewashing Obama's back story.
The mainstream media are as arrogant and destructive to our values and democracy as Obama.

"Crowley, who will be moderating the Oct. 16 presidential debate, said this week’s debate showed that Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama “are both going to take whatever time they feel they can get to put their views out."

Imagine that taking time to put their views out, what a novel concept.

It is the moderator's responsibility to get a complete, concise answer from the candidate. If they are full of it, it will show. (see Obama). If they have a clear answer, with accurate details, it will show (see Mitt). I guess that is why she has a problem.

No. Moderators need to get out of the way. I am not interested in what the moderator has to say.

Who didn't think this kind of thing was going to happen. She has no intention of letting Mitt Romney have an opportunity to make a single point. She will interrupt him constantly while only interrupting Obama to remind him of his talking points.

I have no doubt Romney's team is preparing for this.

I agree with #4. This last one seemed like a debate. Not the typical nonsense. Pres Obama, how do you keep all that smart in your attractive normal sized head vs Gov Romney have you stopped abusing animals or do you continue to hate them?

When the moderator was so stunned at the eviseration of the incumbent, there wasn't much left to do. It's not like he was going to get a bag of popcorn and enjoy the show.

Sounds like she is looking forward to debating the candidates herself. Lehrer set a standard that is unlikely to be reached in subsequent debates. Reporters like Crowley are too arrogant to stay in the background for long. For reasons never satisfactorily explained, at least to me, they consider themselves the moral and intellectual superiors of the candidates and behave toward them accordingly.

Candy Crowley, the ancient experienced media talking head, expresses herself by using the words "kind" and "kind of". She sounds more like an inarticulate teenager, than an experienced journalist. Pathetic.

In other words, Candy is telegraphing to the Obama Regime that she will be in their corner on Oct. 16, not to worry.

Oh, and you folks over at the DNC have my secret e-mail address. Send the questions over anytime. Love, Cindy ...

I hope the next moderator does as well as the previous one and lets the candidates speak for themselves. I'm not interested in how clever the moderator can be in asking questions.

Lehrer got it right. A presidential debate moderator facilitates exchange of ideas and the candidates questioning each other and points them in the next direction with the next question. Not controls. It is not a dual interview, it is a debate. If Candy's performance is very memorable, then she messed up very much. In a town hall environment you don't want the moderator rephrasing or reframing the audiences questions very much at all. If she does make this mistake then you have the Candy Crowley Show, not a town hall debate. You want an almost pure interaction between the audience questioner and the candidates.

Be careful, Candy. Stifle your need to control.

The two men on the stage are running for the most important job in the Country and perhaps the World. if they cannot discuss points raised my the moderator without interference, how can they run the Country. Is Candy going to be there in the Wh to take control? just ask the damn questions and get out of the way. Let the debaters show what they know and how they act.
You think Nero interfered in the Coliseum. The fighters fight and the moderators just pose the questions and keep the time in check.
The moderators should be invisible. It is NOT their show. If the contestants do not answer a question, it is up to their opponent to bring up the point and maybe answer for them.
This is not show and tell in grade school. It is for all the marbles. Let the men debate, period. Frankly, in foreign affairs, if Obama
cannot handle it, then let him sit in the empty chair, because Romney is well versed in
taking control and solving problems.

Another point, as we well know Ms Crowley is partisan towards the left. If she trends off the center line, Mr Romney ought to take her to task very quickly. She is not there to pick a winner, but to be a neutal moderator asking the questions..and that is all.

With his vast and successful leadership and problem solving experience, I'm sure Gov Romney can intuitively tell when someone is making useful suggestions and when someone is sabotaging the process. And in Denver, he showed he is not shy about speaking his mind to a President, or to a moderator.
Tread carefully, Ms Crowley.

Pro-Russian activists carrying automatic weapons seized government buildings in Slaviansk and set up barricades on the outskirts of the city. Official buildings in several neighboring towns were also attacked. The developments have increased concerns of a possible "gas war" that could disrupt energy supplies across the continent. Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports.
