make US pay dearly

Former US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has warned that an Israeli or US military strike on Iran could have disastrous consequences which could haunt Washington’s dealings in the Middle East for years to come. "The results of an American or Israeli military strike on Iran could, in my view, prove catastrophic, haunting us for generations in that part of the world," Gates said on Wednesday in a speech in Norfolk, Virginia.

The longer the wait the worse it will be. The more time they have ~ the more power they have to destroy Israel. This whole series of takeovers by the Muslim Brotherhood ~ is a well orchestrated plan to obliterate Israel and then the rest of the World ~ imposing mandatory joining of Islam or die. I choose Death over joining with them.

And your point is?
For Israel this is about the existence of Israel.

Iran has already killed 100s of American soldiers in Lebanon, Kobar and Iraq and unleashed 10s of thousands of rockets on Israel.
How dangerous will Iran be when they have a nuclear bomb?

"...could haunt Washington’s dealings in the Middle East for years to come."

Yeah, like the when Carter dumped the Shah? That's been haunting US for a mere forty plus years.

Really? What kind of crazy talk is that - what could possibly go wrong with an unprovoked attack on a country of 75 million people?

Gates should know about disasters because he was one as SecDef.

Actually, appeasing these insufferable cretins is having it's own disastrous consequences. These America-hating cave dwellers have infiltrated our countries politics and will soon be making more demands.

Ahmadinejad only knows force and the existence of Israel is indeed at stake. I wonder how much the muslims are paying Gates. Hmmmmmmm.

You mean if we don't let Iran develop their nukes, and then all of the other middle east countries, they won't like us?

I'm not sure I follow #4. A regime of hateful, religious nutjobs, attempting to develop a nuclear bomb for the expressly declared purpose of using it on Israel, is more than sufficient provocation.

Load up Little Man, fire the Enola up and begin a methodic elimination of the Islamofascists

Perhaps Gates should recall the 25 years of peace & the freedom which was resulting following Ghaddafi's response after Libya was bombed during Pres. Reagan's leadership? Strong American leadership FOR LIBERTY prevailed and freedom & prosperity ensued.

But now 0bama & Mrs. slick's dem policies have CHANGED all of that liberty, peace & goodwill which were slowly developing throughout the entire ME until, that is, the dems' pulled the rug out and unleashed the current whirlwind. Where is ANY leadership for Life & Liberty in the ME today among the current statist dem party?!! -YIKES!!! Their policies have tragically all failed.

...And what about our own southern border with Mexico?! Policy tragedy after tragedy!

Those in this Administration apparently either, 'forgot,' to read & comply with their oaths of office or they are totally inept & bankrupt of positive policies. ...Maybe both.

The headline, and Gates, are technically correct. Which means nothing.

Not striking could well cost even more. We just don't know. And can't know.

To me the great unknown is Israeli strike capability. Do their subs really have nuclear armed missiles. Can their conventional bombs really destroy the Iranian facilities deep underground and so heavily defended.

And even more important. What does Israeli intelligence know that the US does not.

OTOH there is no doubt the US can obliterate anything or everything in Iran. The consequences would be political more than military. But they would be real.

Hope for a new regime or a power shift in Iran. Otherwise nuclear war is coming, only the details are lacking.

Vienna - A leaked diagram suggesting that Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapon is scientifically flawed, diplomats working with the UN nuclear agency conceded Friday. However they insisted that it still supports suspicions that Tehran is trying to build a bomb, especially when combined with other documents that remain secret. The Associated Press reported Tuesday, citing the document leaked by officials from a country critical of Iran’s atomic program, that it indicated that Iranian scientists had run computer simulations for a nuclear weapon that would produce more than triple the

Uncritical, fear-mongering media propaganda is far too common to take note of each time it appears, but sometimes, what is produced is so ludicrous that its illustrative value should not be ignored. Such is the case with a highly trumpeted Associated Press "exclusive" from Tuesday which claims in its red headline to have discovered evidence of "Iran Working on Bomb". (Snip) It is a "graph" which AP says was "leaked" to it by "officials from a country critical of Iran´s atomic program to bolster their arguments that Iran´s nuclear program must be halted before it produces a weapon"

Barbara Starr, CNN's Pentagon reporter (more accurately known as: the Pentagon's reporter at CNN), has an exciting exclusive today. Exclusively relying upon "three senior officials" in the Obama administration (all anonymous, needless to say), she claims that "two Iranian Su-25 fighter jets fired on an unarmed U.S. Air Force Predator drone in the Persian Gulf last week," while "the drone was in international airspace east of Kuwait... engaged in routine maritime surveillance." The drone was not hit, but, says CNN, "the incident raises fresh concerns within the Obama administration about Iranian military aggression in crucial (Persian) Gulf oil shipping lanes."

A member of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission stressed on Sunday that the recent allegation about a halt in Iran's 20 percent uranium enrichment activities is not true. "This claim is unreal because the 20 percent enriched uranium is needed for Tehran's (Research) Reactor and its medical purposes," Kazzem Jalali said on Sunday. He stressed that Iran considers uranium enrichment as its inalienable right, and added, "In line with defending our nuclear rights, we believe that uranium enrichment is our inalienable right."

Iranian missiles can penetrate the Iron Dome rocket-defense system, Brig.-Gen. Masoud Jazayeri, deputy chief of the Iranian armed forces said Thursday, according to Iranian news agency Fars. "There is no iron dome in the world that we cannot pierce through," Fars quoted him as saying. "What is said about this dome (the Iron Dome) is mostly psychological warfare and propaganda." He also labelled Israeli threats to strike Iran's nuclear facilities as psychological warfare, contending that the IDF lacks the military capability to attack the Islamic Republic. Jazayeri further accused Israel of having

Compounding the American military's difficulties on the Japanese island of Okinawa, a U.S. airman is under investigation over allegations he broke into a local family's home early Friday and assaulted a teenage boy before jumping off a third-floor balcony. The incident is likely to further deepen resentment among Okinawan residents about the significant U.S. military presence on the island. The situation was already extremely delicate following the arrest last month of two U.S. sailors accused of raping a local woman.

Iran has images of sensitive Israeli military bases taken by a drone that was launched by Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement and downed by Israel earlier this month, a senior Iranian lawmaker claimed Monday in the latest boast from Tehran about purported advances in the capabilities of its unmanned aircraft. The announcement gave no details about the photos — other than calling the Israeli bases “forbidden sites” — but it suggested Iranian drones have the ability to transmit data while in flight. It also appeared aimed at warning Israel about the options for retaliation for any possible strikes on

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

There’s really no reason for the press to suggest that the recent slew of scandals involving the Obama administration — Benghazi, the AP phone-record seizure, the snooping in James Rosen’s e-mail, the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, and so on — are a confusing jumble. There is a very clear thread running through all of the administration’s actions: The U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya, Gregory Hicks, says that he was told not to speak to a member of Congress about Benghazi without a State Department lawyer present, that he received a phone call from Hillary Clinton’s
