| COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fort Carson confirms that a soldier dressed in his uniform sat directly behind Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan and was in full view on the camera streaming the event. The name on the uniform is Buckley. Wearing a military uniform to a campaign event is a violation of the Unified Code of Military Justice. Fort Carson officials did not fully identify the man, but say that he is receiving disciplinary action. A court martial is a possible outcome for this type of offense

Comments: Kid was just trying to support the only pro-American ticket this year and probably didn't know any better. Anything beyond a reprimand would seem extreme to me. I wonder if someone in Washington will try to prevent him from voting . . . oh that's right, they already are.

A commenter after the article said he knows the guy, and he was shuffled into the seat. He shouldn't have been there in uniform, but I doubt it is a Hatch Act violation. I ended up being forced by a crowd of officers into a receiving line for our state governor. Luckily, a colonel saw the panic in my eyes and let me slip out the back door. It happens.

Country's swirling the toilet, Obama's giggling the handle. BFD Kathline Sebeious is campaigning for the commie muslimrat, but that 's okay... The most corrupt American President, ever. History was written last night. The Republic may have been saved by the combination of the '07 obama speech rant, and the exposure of the spokesman for the cabal, the monster Obama.

What about all those men and women in uniform, all over the world, whom Obie's crew hand pick and arrange behind him for his campaign appearances? (Every appearance he makes is a campaign appearance.)

It's OK to be in a Gay Pride parade in uniform, though.

When I was in the Army it was made clear you couldn't do anything at all like this. Today the command is sending out mixed messages. You can march in a gay pride parade in uniform. You can be used as political photo ops. This soldier probably thought nothing of going to this event in uniform.

I wonder if these soldiers are permitted to fight the enemy when they are out of uniform, or do they have to have full gear on? Of all things our soldiers are expected to do to protect this nation, I don't think the uniform matters on or off, they will give their lives for their country. Stop nitpicking.

"...he was shuffled into the seat. He shouldn't have been there in uniform, but I doubt it is a Hatch Act violation."
It's not. It's a clear violation of Department of Defense Directive 1344.10, which states A member may) attend partisan and nonpartisan political fundraising activities, meetings, rallies, debates, conventions, or activities as a spectator WHEN NOT IN UNIFORM and when no inference or appearance of official sponsorship, approval, or endorsement can reasonably be drawn.
Military members are briefed each election year. Now, that said, this soldier should receive the punishment his Commander-in-Chief doled out to Secretary of Homeland Security Sebilius, who oversees the US Coast Guard, for her faux pas. But I don't know whether the Army has a spare VIP plane.

Vice President Biden hit the game show circuit this week, appearing Thursday on Jeopardy. Under the quiz show´s time-honored format, Biden provided the answers for questions about the first vice president to serve (John Adams), the first vice president to resign (John C. Calhoun), the first veep to ascend to the presidency (John Tyler), and the fact that the veep´s official residence is at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. Biden also provided the clue for a Daily Double: "The vice president is a member of the board of regents of this, ´America´s attic.´" The question: "What is the Smithsonian?"

First lady Michelle Obama hung out with a "big time star" and jammed to the Godfather of Soul, but brought a serious message to students at a once-troubled Washington elementary school Friday.(snip)The first lady toured a pre-K classroom and a fifth grade arts class during her visit. In the pre-K class, she joined the four and five-year-olds in a game where they dance, and freeze in positions shown on flash cards when the music stops. She spent about 15 minutes in the class, dancing to James Brown´s "Gonna Have Funky Good Time".

Not to fear, America -- she´s been placed on "administrative leave," a terribly severe form of discipline that´s effectively tantamount to paid vacation. (snip)Lerner, the director of the IRS exempt organizations office in Washington, D.C., signed cover letters to 15 conservative organizations currently represented by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) between in March and April of 2012. The president may have forgotten something as he boarded Marine One this morning. On his way to the U.S. Naval Academy graduation ceremony on Annapolis, Md., President Obama didn’t return the salute of the marine standing guard at the door of Marine One, as he climbed the steps to the helicopter cabin. Obama soon ducked his head out, waved to the pilot, and jaunted back down the stairs to address the marine, shaking his hand. In the short video clip, one can’t hear the two men talking, so it’s unclear what exactly was said.

Put aside the politics, and the question of who-knew-what-when. There are two policy problems highlighted by the controversies at the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Justice. The first is the growth of 501(c)(4) groups into vehicles for anonymous and unlimited political spending. The second is the Obama administration’s overzealous prosecution of leaks. Unfortunately, for those who would like to see these policy problems resolved, the wrong party is angry about them and the wrong party is complacent.

She had to endure the public humiliation of his sexting scandal, but now it turns out that Anthony Weiner’s wife was the driving force behind his comeback. Huma Abedin put her feelings of betrayal aside and backed her husband to run for mayor of New York in this year’s election. She has also been working her close connections to the Clinton family to get Mr Weiner access to wealthy and powerful donors who he so badly needs. Having been frozen out of politics when he quit his Congressional seat, Mr Weiner is now effectively relying on his wife

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
