Mitt Romney dominated and Barack Obama stumbled in Denver Wednesday night. What went right for Romney and wrong for the president? These things: Romney arrived with a strategic plan; Obama didn’t. Romney was quick on his feet; Obama slow on his feet. Romney showed EQ as well as IQ; Obama didn’t. Let's take them in reverse order. Emotional Intelligence vs. Plain Old Intelligence. Romney, the multimillionaire, arrived in a suit, shirt and tie that looked like they’d been purchased at Macy’s. I doubt he’ll ever wear them again, but for one night, he looked the way most non-zillionaires look when they dress for business.
Fianlly America can see the Emperor truly has no clothes. To comment on Romney's suit is classic mental disease from a liberal. Romney could have shown up in jeans and whooped Obama. Obama has gotten a free ride all his life and borrowing from Alfred E. Neumann, Obama didn't prepare at all...."what, me work?"
Poor David is trying to figure out why his Obamessiah was so lame last night.
I've got news for you, David. Your guy just isn't that smart. Absent a fawning press helping him and his trusty teleprompter, he is about as knowledgeable about the economy as the local WalMart greeter. Maybe, as an Affirmative Action concession, we should allow Axelrod to prepare the questions and Obama to use his teleprompter for the next debate.
David Frum...former Republican...turned sour puss democrat lover. Non-relevant person if I ever saw one. I could care less what he thought of Romney's suit. I thought he looked great, but as #4 said, it really didn't matter what he wore, he still would have whipped Obama, hands down!
Hi David, just wanted to let you know that there were many of us that had to listen to the audio of the debate and weren't able to see the Macy's suit you refer to. That said, your guy still lost. Optics be darned, facts are facts. Your guy is not entitled to his own facts. I saw the photos this morning and your guy did look nice however, except for that perpetual smirk/scowl thing he had going on. Did that come from Macy's?
A flaming Obot scrambling around trying to find the pony.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear some of the lines he's trying to feed to The Once turning up in the next debate. Except that it won't be on the economy. Oh, woe.
The only thing dumber than this pathetic piece is Albore's contention that it was the altitude in Denver that dulled Obama.
I'd say it was his ignorance of the facts required to run his office and the absence of a teleprompter, which could only have fed him what he already had: A bunch of loose talking points from which he had to try to pull a few that fit the topic.
David offers more non sequiturs and spin like this about Romney needing a new accountant "He’s got you paying a lower tax rate than the White House cleaning staff!"
Of course there is an easy answer. "Well, Mr. President, if you understood our economy you would know that we encourage people to invest in business by providing a favorable tax rate when they do. Those investments generate business and jobs. That's what I do with my money, invest it into the economy to create jobs. It's similar to the way that people put money into a savings account and it is made available for people to borrow for things like mortgages. That's how our economy works Mr. President."
Liberals like David and BO are clueless about the whole process so are prime to sounding stupid, as BO found out last night.
FTA: Romney, the multimillionaire, arrived in a suit, shirt and tie that looked like they’d been purchased at Macy’s. I doubt he’ll ever wear them again, but for one night, he looked the way most non-zillionaires look when they dress for business.
Say what? What's wrong with a suit from Macy's? I don't think of the place as cheap.
Wouldn`t you like to have been a fly on the wall when Moochelle and Barack finally got behind closed doors last night without all the Elvis hanger on in tow? She must have laid into him and not in a good way.
During the debate, did I hear correctly that the pResident used Lincoln (continental railroad) and Eisenhower (interstate highway system) as models of bold vision projects (by Republicans) on par with Johnson's Great Society? Is he equating Obamacare with those projects?
Did either of the first two projects approach $16 billion, with results still not obvious? I would love to see the equivalent $$/percentage of GDP comparisons.
1. Romney wore a cheaper suit than he did? 2. He looked down instead of the at Romney? 3. He wasn't as warm and engaging as Romney? 4. He allowed Romney to confuse him with facts? 5. Romney has a "Hugely unpopular economic plan?
It couldn't have had anything to do with the fact that 60% of the American people don't want Obamacare or that his stimulus solution to the economy hasn't worked the last three times he tried it, so he's going to try it again or because the economy in general is in a death spiral of his making or that he hasn't got a clue as to how to conduct foreign policy or people are tired of the Chicago style corruption of his regime. Nah, it couldn't be any of those things.
Obama and minions have spent the last few years creating inside their pea sized brains a Romney that doesn't exist. They believe their own lies. So, the REAL Romney shows up to debate, laying out the arena of conservative ideas, and Marxism has nothing to argue. Without lies, the democrats have nothing.
Didn't Mrs Romney say she bought some of his dress shirts at Costco? I don't think the Romney's are all that concerned about where they buy their clothes or which designer they are wearing. I suspect they are more concerned about getting value for their money. That would be nice to have in a President, in my opinion, and something we don't have now.
The two tabloid editors at the centre of the phone hacking trial had a secret six-year affair at the end of which Rebekah Brooks wrote to Andy Coulson: “I love you ... You are my very best friend ... I tell you everything,” the Old Bailey heard. It is alleged that Mrs Brooks and Mr Coulson oversaw phone hacking and corruption at two of the country’s biggest newspapers. Details of the clandestine relationship were made public during the second day of their trial, where they are accused of overseeing a decade of illegal activity at The Sun and The News
The Oscar-winning film director Charles Ferguson has cancelled his CNN documentary on Hillary Clinton after what he described as a private campaign against the film by prominent Democrats. Ferguson said he had decided to pull the plug after being met with a wall of silence from more than a hundred people who refused to be interviewed for the documentary. He claimed that aides to the former secretary of state put pressure on CNN behind the scenes, and made clear that Clinton would only co-operate "over my dead body". He also blamed a public campaign by Republicans, who claimed the film would be
When Ted Sarandos put out the word that Netflix would begin producing original shows, he was swamped with story pitches that everyone else in Hollywood clearly had taken a pass on — including some scripts marked with coffee stains, smudged fingerprints and other telltale signs of rejection. That all changed in 2011 after Netflix bought the political thriller "House of Cards" from "The Social Network" and "Fight Club" director David Fincher.
It’s a Duck Nation, and we’re all just living in it. Last week, A&E Network’s reality show “Duck Dynasty” catapulted to become the biggest unscripted show in cable history with its fourth season premiere. With nearly 11.8 million viewers, the show about a Louisiana family that has made millions from its duck call fabrication business is on the brink of toppling “The Walking Dead.” If it does, it will become cable´s biggest show. The A&E Network, as Duck Commander patriarch Phil Robertson would say, is “Happy, happy, happy.” The show premiered in March 2012 and finished its first cycle with an average
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Democrat Anthony Weiner said that the new sexting firestorm that set his City Hall campaign reeling last week will in the end make him a stronger mayor and better able to deliver for Staten Island and the rest of the city. "I´m going to be a successful mayor because of it, because it´s going to give me a level of independence," he told the Advance in an exclusive interview. "I´m not constructing a campaign around the approval of my peers. I´m constructing a campaign around the aspirations of my neighbors."
Rush Limbaugh began his radio show Monday morning by addressing the news that Cumulus Media, the second-biggest radio broadcaster in the country, plans to drop his show from its stations by the end of the year. Limbaugh assured his readers that “nothing is going to change” in terms of their ability to hear him every morning. “There was another POLITICO story that ran last night on this program,” Limbaugh began, referring to Dylan Byers‘ report. “Someday, I am looking forward to detailing all of this for you,” Limbaugh continued, but for now he said he “must use proper business restraint.”
Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew, who oversees the IRS, made the rounds of four Sunday morning TV talk shows (all but CBS’s Face the Nation) to promote President Obama’s latest “pivot” to the economy, but ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and CNN’s Candy Crowley failed to take advantage of the opportunity to press him on the IRS scandal. NBC’s David Gregory squeezed a question in at the very end of their session, but then didn’t follow up on Lew’s insistence “there’s no evidence of any political involvement.” Gregory: “Mr. Secretary, I’ll leave it there.
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
