The Empty Chair Showed Up
American Thinker, by Trevor Thomas

Original Article

There should be little surprise at the results of 2012's first presidential debate. What the heck else was Obama going to do or say?! This is what happens when you have to run on your sorry record. This is what happens when there is no teleprompter. This is what happens when you don't have the mainstream media to run cover for you. Chris Matthews essentially said as much, when, in his post-debate tantrum he asked, "Tonight wasn't an MSNBC debate tonight, was it?"

Comments:
Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away ~

The empty chair would have done better.

Do you suppose Michelle slept well last night?

Last night we got a clear look at Obama without his posse' of sycophantic media, his teleprompter or the stonewalling of his spokesmouth.
Not a pretty picture.

The chair was, indeed, a La-Z-boy.

Jim Lehrer kept trying to be Obama's teleprompter but it didn't work.

Obama seemed so ashamed of himself that he spent the night staring at his shoes. Maybe he actually read a few of the economic reports.

That made Clint Eastwoods day.

The empty chair will now be followed by the empty head. Biden's performance against Ryan may well end Obambi's campaign. Look for Biden to be his usual attack dog in a Chicago park mode. TIs Obambi's only chance now.

The next debate will include Mitt baiting by the Candy Crowley, the moderator ...interruptions ...please,stick to the question ...time is up ...no, we cannot go back...maybe an eye roll or two.

I can't wait for the debate on foreign policy! Obama is already in the hole on that issue. Domestic policy was supposed to be Obama's strong suit, but he failed miserably. He will be crushed on his foreign policy- which is about apologizing for America and bowing to despots!

I hope some smart stage person saved that chair. If Romney pulls this thing off it will raise more money at a charity auction than anyone can imagine.

Mitt came, Mitt saw, Mitt kicked butt.

And for this, I sent in my first contribution to his campaign. If only for riding rough-shod over Jim Lehrer.

The Current Occupant had the look of a deer in the headlights.

When he looked up from his shoes at all.

Maybe they can spin this as Obama's satire that didn't work of Eastwood's satire that wasn't supposed to have worked. It just takes a very, very, very bright elitist to get it. -- Yeah, that sounds good!

About the foreign policy debate to come and the events in Libya: Obama had a narrative that he wanted to force on reality. It caused him to ignore 13 security breaches and numerous requests for more security, intelligence that Islamic terrrorists were increasingly active in Libya and in the Middle East, intelligence that Al Queda planned activities for 9/11, and the concerns of the ambassador. In callous disregard for the truth and the lives of his own representatives, he then tells the world that his representative was overcome by fine particulate matter and rescued by a friendly mob. He knows this is not true at the time he says it. He knows that everyone else knows or will soon know it is not true. Forcing his "vision" contrary to reality made the disaster possible, and he compounded the arrogance and culpability while insulting both the lives of those who died and the intelligence of the world and tried to force his vision again.

This send-up is accurate and fair warning to all: Don't not wake up in a roadside Libyan ditch with your pants on backwards. Vote Romney.

I'll bet that Michelle's scathing review of her hubby's sorry performance was equaled only by Rosalind's scathing review after Cartuh lost the election.

LOL!

"the mainstream media, as they have managed to do for the last several years, will now attempt to clean up this mess by Obama."

The problem is that the media's most effective tool is ignoring BO's mistakes. People SAW for themselves BO's incompetence. They probably immediately formed a lowered opinion of BO and a better opinion of Romney. Future attacks on Romney will be less effective because people have heard for themselves what he stands for. Things like "War on Women" are going to sound stupid.

The landscape of the election changed last night because the people saw the truth for themselves. There is no way for media to "clean up" (or cover up) the mess. That's the power of a live debate.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he´ll "probably" make a decision about running for president sometime in 2015. The Republican, who is seeking a second term in November as governor, has taken heat recently for appearances with President Obama and former President Bill Clinton. Christie said on MSNBC´s Morning Joe program that he´s not concerned with how appearances with high-profile democrats might affect his political future. "My job is to do my job," Christie said, as he defended his appearance last week at the Clinton Global Initiative

James O´Keefe is back to muckraking, with a new book and fresh "Obamaphone" scandal as the "Ashton Kutcher of the Conservative movement" reaffirms his commitment to guerilla journalism. Having paid his debt to society after his 2010 arrest, he is now ready to pick up where he left off in his crusade to expose corruption in the halls of power, beginning with footage that shows shady practices in the government-subsidized cellphone program. On Monday night, family, friends from his Rutgers days and members of Team O´Keefe squeezed into a club in West SoHo

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) has signed her name to an effort to draft Hillary Clinton into the 2016 presidential race, becoming the first sitting member of Congress to do so. The Ready for Hillary super PAC announced McCaskill as its latest big-name supporter on Tuesday morning. McCaskill in 2008 supported President Obama over Clinton in the primary, but said earlier this year that she hopes Clinton will run again. “Hillary Clinton had to give up her political operation while she was making us proud, representing us around the world as an incredible

A National Rifle Association television ad targeting Democratic West Virginian Senator Joe Manchin for his work with President Barack and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to draft new gun control legislation uses a shaded photo of the African-American president that makes him appear darker and, according to some critics, more sinister. In the ad, Bloomberg´s face appears to be shaded, as well, but much less dramatically than the president´s Obama´s darker appearance in the ad is being compared to a controversial 1994 Time magazine cover

A host of Republicans considering 2016 presidential bids, including Florida Gov. Marco Rubio, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, will attend a conference for religious conservatives starting Thursday, with a notable exception: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Christie was invited to speak at the Faith and Freedom Coalition´s two-day "Road To Majority" conference in Washington, Republicans with knowledge of the invitation said. Christie´s team declined, citing a scheduling conflict. Instead of visiting the conservative confab, the New Jersey governor

If there’s one thing we know about Americans, it’s that they love a winner. By extension, they can be very tough on those who don’t. I’ve often wondered whether that’s why so many people seem unwilling to give Jimmy Carter his due. Yes, Carter was president of the United States during four tumultuous years, 1977-’81. He had his share of crises to deal with: 52 Americans held hostage in Iran, the Soviets invading Afghanistan, stagflation, lineups for gasoline around the block thanks to a squeeze by the OPEC nations, not to mention Three Mile Island and the petty scandals

The controversial filmmaker whose crude Internet trailer was wrongly blamed by the White House for sparking last year´s deadly Benghazi attack vowed to finish his movie, which he said is aimed at fighting terrorism, not denigrating Islam. Breaking his silence from inside a facility under the authority of the federal Bureau of Prisons in southern California, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula told FoxNews.com in a series of phone interviews that his film "Innocence of Muslims" has been widely misunderstood, and not just in being singled out as causing the Sept. 11, 2012, attack

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
