Mitt Romney's garbage man is starring in a new attack ad that features him at work picking up trash outside the Republican nominee's $12 million California mansion. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) labor union features the garbage man in an ad that juxtaposes him talking about how tough his job it with Romney's notorious '47 per cent' comments in which he says that 'my job is not to worry about those people' who don't pay federal income tax. In the ad, the garbage man states: 'My name is Richard Hayes, and I pick up

Some people pick up trash.
Some people are trash.

Just how far out of context can they go with this stuff. Romney was talking about not worrying about trying to get them to switch their vote by offering tax cuts, nothing else.

Continuous dishonesty by the Administration and the President himself. Disgusting.

Way to go Richard. You've probably NEVER heard what Romney actually said, but you CERTAINLY don't understand what he was trying to say.

My dad always taught me that there was no shame in an honest day's work, and to be especially grateful to the guys who do the dirty jobs. Don't think my dad would've thought too much of this guy, though. He also taught me that you don't whine about your circumstances, you change them.

"My name is Richard Hayes, and I pick up Mitt Romney's trash" and the hardest part is getting ObozoX and the mooch in the bag ...

Wow... They are really grabbing for anything arent they .. Is that the best they got ? SAD !

Anyone who can understand what he is saying is most likely voting for Obama anyway. If the director wanted to gain new supporters, he should have used subtitles.

With these garbage trucks there is no lifting involved. The cans are rolled to the truck and hydraulics do the rest.

I pay my garbage man to do a job. I am not going to go to the curb and say, "Great job, getting that automatic arm to pick up the can and dump it!"

No one needs to praise you for doing what you're paid to do. Be glad you have a job, period.

Whiny, pathetic liberals.

The Obama desperation smells far worse than anything good ole Richard's truck ever picked up.

I have never seen a garbage man hoist a can to dump it into the truck. The trucks have mechanicsl hoists that lift and dump those special cans (for which we pay a pretty penny each month).

Waste Management Co. picks up almost all San Diego County trash, including LaJolla. From its website:

Keep your children and pets at a safe distance from the truck. Our drivers love to see happy neighbors during their routes, but prefer that you stay on the front porch or in the yard - do not get near or climb on the truck whether it is parked or at work.
http://www.wastemanagementsd.com/about/safety.asp

Nothing about hugging, but it is tough to hug from the front porch or the yard, especially when your house is on a hill above the road.

our local garbage collection guys do lift the cans. They did so in IL also. But when we lived in CA all the trucks were equipped with ''arms'' that lifted the cans. I also went digging around and found that the average waste collector makes approx $20.28 per hour in CA. Data I located didn't mention union membership or local pay variances. And they WILL NOT collect anything NOT in a can. That's a special collection at an additional cost.

I remember in Chicago that getting on as a garbage collector (particularly as a driver) was a job you could only get thru ''connections''. Don't know exactly how it works now but when we lived in the city you truly had to ''know'' someone...

He won't be picking up Romney's trash for long. Mitt should hire a private contractor and dump the union goon brand of service. Or better yet, hire somebody to check the trashmens' IDs every trip to make sure they aren't a threat.

Well one thing is for sure this guy will always be known as a trash man. Others on the route should call the company there is no telling what this guy will do to destroy the people on the route with his mouth.

Romney cares so little he has over $4 million on last year's tax return under charitable deductions. Just a greedy one-percenter.

And how much did all the Democrats in Congress give last year taken together?

Garbage men make big bucks.

The reality is just like in Greece, the haves are the government workers, and the havenots are the rest of us.

The Democraps have hit a new low using Romney's garbage man in a hit piece. That fellow probably doesn't even know what 47% Romney is referring to.

He's lying about something he knows nothing about, if he doesn't personally know Romney.

A new low, even for the party of the takers.

Growing up, my brother always said he wanted to be a garbage man. Our neighbor was one, and he had the best house, the newest & flashiest car, a cabin-cruiser docked at a nice marina, and his kids had all the latest toys.

Oh my, my, my. Now Mitt Romney has LOST the TRASH-Collector vote? A pathetic union-whiner named Richard Hayes, who is Mitt Romney's PERSONAL garbage man, appears in an AD complaining about "No hugs", "No appreciation"? Boohoo! Must be a pretty MACHO trash collector, eh? Let this genius, Hayes, name ONE demonrat who DOES care about him and he may be worth paying attention to. BTW, WHAT does the $12m "mansion" have to do with Mitt Romney "not caring". Never mind..

....The $12m mansion plays into the 'wealthy', 'out-of-touch' Mitt Romney. They're sick.

If you read Romney's book you will see that he once worked as a garbage man in Boston.

#21 beat me to it. Romney actually DID work as a trash collector. He wanted to work at different jobs. Honest worker, and a very successful man..something Obama can never be.

Appearing on MSNBC´s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Wednesday, NBC´s chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd came up with a long list of excuses for President Obama´s poor speech performance in Berlin: "I want to give you a little context here....there was an attempt to shrink the crowd size....Maybe they would have gotten 25, 30, 40,000 people....President Obama feeds off a crowd very well." Another Republican Super PAC is jumping into the increasingly nasty Massachusetts Senate battle, going after Democrat Ed Markey’s biggest weakness — his $1.3 million Maryland home. The America Rising PAC, recently founded by Mitt Romney’s former presidential campaign manager, is planning to deliver a letter today to Maryland’s comptroller urging the state to investigate why Markey has never paid state income taxes there despite living in the upscale Chevy Chase suburb for two decades, the Herald has learned. Markey’s residency status has been dogging him throughout his career, ever since the Herald reported in the early 1990s

Los Angeles County coroner´s officials said Wednesday the body recovered from a fiery, single-car crash in Hollywood that apparently killed journalist Michael Hastings will likely undergo an autopsy Thursday. But an official cause of death and closure of the case is not likely for four to six weeks or perhaps longer, they said. Coroner´s officials are hoping the results will answer why the accident happened. Officials were attempting to match dental records to help make a positive identification. The death of the 33-year-old Hastings was announced Tuesday by his employer, BuzzFeed,

Meet the Women for Weiner. The host committee is led by his wife, Huma Abedin, and includes her sister, Heba; Rory Tahari, wife of designer Elie Tahari; and Cheryl Saban, the wife of California-based mega-donor Haim Saban, who funded a short film lauding Hillary Clinton’s tenure at the State Department

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

This is the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of How Democracies Perish, an analysis of the spread of world communism by Jean-François Revel, one of freedom´s most serious French defenders since Tocqueville. At the heart of this work, Revel details "The Tools of Communist Expansion," among which the most relevant for understanding our current situation comes in Chapter 16, "Ideological Warfare and Disinformation." The profound simplicity of Revel´s nuts and bolts account of totalitarianism´s Cold War advance, far from being obsolete

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
