Ineffective Obama has left
his base disenchanted
by broken promises

Irish Independent (Dublin, IRE), by Karen Coleman

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 10/1/2012 1:15:39 PM

In February 2008 I met American friends in New York at a diner in downtown Manhattan. It was two days after Super Tuesday and the couple had just flown in from Los Angeles, where they live. Over omelettes and sourdough toast we discussed the results of the Democrat primaries that had seen Barack Obama narrow the gap against his rival Hillary Clinton. My Californian friends were buzzing with excitement at the prospect of the young senator making it to the White House to redeem America's reputation, which had been badly damaged by the incumbent president.

Comments:
These people STILL haven't learned a thing.
If Ms. Coleman and her friends realized that 0bama's path to the White House was paved by a relentless eight year campaign of smears and lies against Bush/Cheney perpetrated by the MSM and other anti-American leftists, she might just have a clue as to why she is so disappointed. And if she listened to conservatives screaming at the top of their lungs that 0bama was an incompetent radical back in 2008, that could have been her second clue. These people make me sick.

Broken promises, or more lies? Same = same!

Karen Coleman (who wrote this article) and her California friends were delusional. They now see the error of their ways, but along the way missed the fact that Hillary Clinton, aside from being every bit as mendacious as Obit, is to the left of Obit in her Alinskyite politics, if that is possible.

The Clintons had their chance. They were a disaster for this country. He is largely responsible for the mortgage disaster that zapped our economy, and her Alinsky worship tried to bring us all kinds of revolutionary changes.

No, no, NO!

How she and her friends can laud Hillary's state department record is beside me.

Best that Coleman stay in Ireland and fix what ails there. We don't need her kind of faulty logic here.

With all due respect to our Irish friends (and my Brit family over in England) they are the last folks to take political advice from! I suggest they worry about their own failing country.

His base is happy. They have Obamaphones!

Obama is starting to pull away. We're done for.

#6 - You are wrong, respectfully, of course. If obama loses 2% in each demographic, he loses the election; young college grads, blacks, hispanics, elderly, Jewish, single women. I don't think he can garner more votes from the entitlement crowd than he did last time.

The broken promises are that he has not done enough to the left. This makes no difference to them as far as the election is concerned. He will have more flexibility after he is re-elected.

Reply 9 - Posted by: Blackeagle, 10/1/2012 3:43:40 PM     (No. 8902646)

The press - the US and the Irish - continues to push the meme that Romney makes these terrible gaffes and has had a terrible September. In reality, it is Obama who has had a terrible September - the Arab craziness and the GNP collapse - essentially the collapse of both his foreign and domestic policies.

The public has yet to compare Romney and Obama - but they will during the debates. Not so much will they hear clever debating but rather they will get to measure each man - mannerisms, authenticity, etc. It is only after this campaign rite of passage will we see who is going to win the election. I am still convinced that it will be Romney.

Yes, but he has compensated for his broken promises by breaking the economy.

Reply 11 - Posted by: msjena, 10/1/2012 4:01:35 PM     (No. 8902684)

But his base is still voting for him. I am on an email list with a bunch of liberal women. They complain about his continuation of the Afghan war, etc., but still plan to vote for him. For these people, being a Democrat is their religion. They would literally follow their party leaders off the cliff rather than vote Republican. The issues don't matter. They view the Democrats as smarter morally superior people who want to help the poor and the working classes (through higher taxes if necessary) and the Republicans as evil monsters who want to leave poor black children without food or shelter and force women to have back-alley abortions while helping their rich corporate friends get richer. Logic and facts do not sway them.

Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), the Senate Finance Committee Chairman, predicted in an interview airing Sunday that the scandal surrounding the Internal Revenue Service selectively targeting conservative political groups will grow. “I have a hunch that a lot more is going to come out, frankly,” Baucus told Bloomberg News. “It’s broader than the current focus.” Steven Miller, the acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service who was ousted earlier this week, is testifying Friday before the House Ways and Means committee in what is expected to be the first of many congressional grillings over the scandal.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., charged Republicans with “exploiting” the questions surrounding the Benghazi talking points, the AP phone records seizure, and the IRS scandal in order to attack President Obama because “they fear” his agenda and eloquence. “This president — they make so much of these issues because this president is such a great president,” Pelosi told reporters during her weekly press briefing. “They will use talking points on Benghazi, they will use the IRS, they will use AP, as, I think, subterfuges — evasions — of what the American people want us to do.”

Public Policy Polling´s new national survey paints a rather unprecedented picture for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie´s 2016 aspirations -- one that is alternatively beneficial and uncomfortable. According to PPP, Christie earns favorable ratings across political ideologies, something that hasn´t been seen in a potential presidential nominee since Republican John McCain in 2008. Overall, 40 percent of Democrats, 41 percent of Republicans, and 45 percent of Independents view Christie favorably. He is the only potential 2016 candidate who earns favorable views across party lines

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has a personal reason for wanting to ban discrimination in the workplace. "My niece is a lesbian," Reid told the Huffington Post on Wednesday. "She´s a school teacher. Her employment shouldn´t be affected with that. We should have a law that says that, not just the good graces of wherever you work." Reid´s revelation is just the latest example of a member of Congress explaining a personal reason behind a political stance.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) predicted Thursday that President Obama will renounce his signature healthcare law in the face of mounting conservative opposition to the reform. Bachmann said the ongoing scandal involving the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and challenges in implementing the Affordable Care Act put the law´s survival "back on the table." "The issue is now revived," she said at a press conference. "We believe that the heat will become so hot that even the president of the United States will be forced to repudiate his signature legislation."

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington and Ralph Bunche and Langston Hughes and George Washington Carver and Ralph Abernathy and Thurgood Marshall and, yes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These men were many things to many people and they knew full well the role that racism played in their life. But when it came to their own accomplishments and sense of purpose, they had no time for excuses. It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

Washington – Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-MO, issued a video statement Friday in response to reports that the Internal Revenue Service unfairly targeted conservative nonprofit groups. (Snip) “There’s a reason Lady Justice wears a blindfold in America. That is because in America, we don’t apply the law based on who you are, who you know, or what you believe.
