Paul Ryan: ‘We expected
media bias going into this’

Daily Caller, by Jeff Poor

On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” Republican vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan told host Chris Wallace that he and running mate Mitt Romney expected liberal media bias to affect their campaign from day one. “I think it kind of goes without saying that there is definitely a media bias,” Ryan said. “Look, I’m a conservative, Chris. I’m used to media bias. We expected media bias going into this. That’s why we’re trying to cut through and go straight to people. That’s why when in Washington you hear people complain about media bias, come out into these states

I watched this and Ryan was, as always, terrific. He refused to nibble at Wallace's baited hooks, articulated the points he needed to make and made a good case for electing Romney/Ryan.

For those of you who haven't yet seen Fox Sunday, click it off after Ryan's interview, because the panel was stacked with: Bill Kristol and Laura Ingraham (known to dislike Romney), Juan Williams and Liz Marlantes from the Christian Science Monitor.

First act of the new Republican Congress pass a Law: Prison sentence for Journalist who are caught manipulating the news to provide aid or support to any candidate one year prior to a Federal Election.

Any one convicted will face a 20 to in Life Prison term under FEDERAL sentencing mandates.

Can you hear the MSM cry and scream about the CHILL it will have on the First Amendment, the only amendment they ever support. Their response, how can you tell they have been manipulating? Well how about doctored videos for starters and the covering up corruption of this administration at the highest levels of the MSM and the WH.

I know, I'm wishful thinking. A man's gotta dream.

I haven't watched this yet - waiting for re-broadcast on FNC. However, must respond to #2. While I appreciate and share the motive behind your "dream", #2, the Framers had a better idea. The best way to deal with bad free speech or bad free press is more free speech and press to expose and discredit it. That is the whole idea of the First Amendment. Rather than attempting to make offensive and malicious ideas illegal, just let sunshine do it's thing. Truth has a way. I'd like to see a conservative on-air broadcast network news operation to counter the LSM lies. It should include daily alternatives to Today, GMA, etc. as well as the evening news - not just one hour of FNS per week.. How about it, Rupert and Roger?

As to expected media bias, just wait until Wednesday night when so much is "on the line". "You ain't seen nothin' yet." Romney had better be prepared for an all-out ambush.

I watched the show. Chris did the usual MSM talking points and Paul Ryan was well prepared for everything that Chris tossed at him. He gives me hope. I no longer fear the liberal tainted journalist debates.

Agree with #1. Chris Wallace did all he could do to bait Paul Ryan. Sure would like to see him replaced. Hard to watch.

Paul Ryan did great.

I, too, watched it via my DVR, this am, after church. Chris W. was obnoxious, as usual, always baiting, always hoping for a "gotcha" but not with Paul Ryan! He is excellent under the stupidity of the questions Chris asked. I did manage to watch (sorrowfully) the panel and believe me, no one had anything good to say about Romney/Ryan. But they sure know what the R & R guys should do!!! I've stopped listening to Laura now. She's too opinionated, strident and really unlikeable since her man Santorum lost.

Reply 7 - Posted by: Justavoter, 9/30/2012 2:14:17 PM     (No. 8900405)

I watched and while Ryan did a decent job of holding his ground there were two huge openings that Ryan missed. The first was when Wallce asked about the tax cuts "costing" the government which Ryan gave the typical acceptance of the premise that tax cuts cost the government. It should have gone something like this:
Wallace: how do you respond to the notion from the president that your tax cuts will cost the government x-trillion dollars
Ryan: Criss, when you get your check from Fox, is it made out to the US Treasury or to Chris Wallace?
Wallace: to me, but what is your point?
Ryan: my point is that it is your money first and as a citizen, you along with other citizens elect representatives to decide how much of your paycheck the government needs to protect the interest of its citizens. I reject the premise that tax cuts " cost" the government anything

Ryan also missed the mark when Wallace opened the door about the media bias. What Ryan should have told him is that if the media was doing their job at actuall challenging Oboma on issues such as Fast andFurios and Bengaziy, those two alone would drive the polls 10 points to their favor if the media woul just seek the truth.

THis Thread renews my faith that more and more people are coming to the realization that more and more the Verbiage spewed on FOX NEWS is more and more slanted towards the LEFT. The "Far& Balanced" line is beginning to smell like a day old pile. It is becoming the whip that the conservatives are being flogged with. Their " Producers" and "Script Writers" are seemingly all Left Wingers. Listen how they couch their language.

I agree with #1. We changed the channel as soon as the panel was introduced. Laura Ingraham & Kristol, cannot be taken seriously any longer and the rest are total leftists. I agree #8. It will be so long FNC after this Election.

Paul Ryan is MORE than a match for the lefty-biased media because he knows the facts and tells the truth with clarity. The truth is exactly what both Romney and Ryan need to state in order to draw the sharp constrast with 0bama's dismal record for the past 4 years in office, his radical agenda & his documented failed policies which illustrate 0bama can't be trusted anymore.

Someone on FOX asked what Americans want from the Presidential debates. In a one word response: TRUTH!

At a secret February ceremony at CIA headquarters in Langley, Va., the chief of the CIA’s base in Benghazi the night of the 9/11 anniversary attacks there was awarded one of the agency’s highest intelligence medals, according to U.S. military and intelligence officials. The honor given behind closed doors to “Bob,” the officer who was in charge of the Benghazi intelligence annex and CIA base that was attacked in the early morning of September 12, 2012 and then abandoned for nearly three weeks, illustrates the murky lines of command that preceded the attack, and helped make it a politically volatile issue.

The Senate on Monday opened debate on a $955 billion farm bill that would reduce federal spending by as much as $23 billion over the next 10 years by cutting funding for food stamps and eliminating some farm-support programs. "This legislation will create jobs, cut taxpayer subsidies and reduce the deficit," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Monday. The White House offered only conditional support for the bill, an indication that lawmakers will need to make changes to win the president´s signature. The Obama administration in April called for a 3 percent reduction in the nation´s crop insurance program,

Journalists are understandably alarmed by the revelation that President Barack Obama´s Justice Department targeted Fox News reporter James Rosen during a leak investigation of a State Department employee. The news, reported by the Washington Post late Sunday night, reveals that the Obama administration will apparently stop at nothing to track down whistle-blowers who leak classified information. In Rosen´s case, that included implicating him as a "criminal co-conspirator" whose actions were punishable with up to 10 years in prison. While it is not uncommon for the government to investigate leaks, it is unprecedented for a journalist

The first lady went to Bowie State and addressed the graduating class. Her speech was a mix of black history and a salute to the graduates. (Snip) It takes a man of particular vision to know, as Obama did, that the country really was ready to send an African American to the White House. But I also think that some day historians will pore over his many speeches to black audiences. They will see a president who sought to hold black people accountable for their communities, but was disdainful of those who looked at him and sought the same.

And yes, I realize that headline is eight words too long. Peter Nicholas at the WSJ: The White House’s chief lawyer learned weeks ago that an audit of the Internal Revenue Service likely would show that agency employees inappropriately targeted conservative groups, a senior White House official said Sunday. That disclosure has prompted a debate over whether the president should have been notified at that time. In the week of April 22, the Office of the White House Counsel and its head, Kathryn Ruemmler, were told by Treasury Department attorneys

Remember Armand Armendariz, the Environmental Protection Agency regional administrator who resigned after regaling an audience of Big Green activists with a history lesson to illustrate his agency´s approach to critics of the EPA´s harshest policies? When the Romans conquered a new province, he said, they would "... find the first five guys they saw and they´d crucify them ..." to make the province "really easy to manage for the next few years." The EPA, he continued, also makes "examples of people who are not complying with the law, you make examples out of them,

The Democratic candidates for mayor in New York are campaigning to win the support of the teachers union. They threaten to return the city to the horrors of the David Dinkins era. Back at the turn of the 1990s, New York City was a mess. Crime was rampant. The schools were dreadful. Children in foster care were brutalized because–as the head of the Child Welfare Agency said–”oversight is racist.” The mayor was an incompetent. And, above all, the city was run for the benefit of its employees rather than its citizens. What followed was 20 years of governance

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.
