I have despised White Shoe Republicans since my 20s. Their apogee was Christie Whitman in NJ. Her governorship was all about her and playing footsie with various unions and the state legislature. She was a miserable EPA head (not that the EPA should even exist)with her incompetence clearly showing after 9/11 with her 'all clear' on the city air quality--while particles were still visible every time the wind shifted on the rivers. They are nothing but Eeyores and I hope the 'big tent' pole falls squarely on them!

Nobody foisted Romney on primary voters.
He was one of many candidates running and the majority of voters
overwhelmingly chose him.
This type of conspiracy talk insults the intelligence and decision making capabilities of Republican primary voters.
We are not idiots or robots like Obamaphone voters.
There was a legitimate process and every candidate had the same opportunity to raise money and make their case to the voters.

#4: I beg to differ. The right leaning elite pundits pushed Romney like crazy. Remember the NRO piece that ripped Gingrich? Remember the ridiculous attacks on Rick Perry with absolutely no defense from those elitists? Over and over Romney was positively portrayed while the others were ridiculed.

I didn't chose Romney, but the time the primaries made it to California he was the only choice left. But I know what's important and getting Obama out of office is crucial to the continued survival of this nation. He's not perfect, but I'm backing him all the way.

Those elitist pundits backed Obama and they're still backing him. They should be ridiculed and shamed.

When I think about the field of candidates we saw on stage during the debates, I would have to say that right now Romney is probably best suited of those to defeat Obama. I still like the way Newt battles, but would be be doing better in a face-off with Obama, given the demographics of this country today?

In any case, I can't even consider thinking about what 2016 would be like if Obama wins. If Obama wins, 2016 election will be the least of our worries. I somehow doubt we'll ever get to an election in 2016 and we'll never recover from an Obama victory in 2012.

We will only know if conservatives' fears about Romney are justified WHEN he sits in the Oval office. Until then, we just have to concentrate on pulling RR over that finish line. Thankfully, the Tea Party is only growing, maturing and will be supporting fine future leaders like West, Love, etc.

The premise is right on. There were many of us of the Tea Party philosophy who did not see Romney as our choice, but once chosen we are now probably his strongest supporters as we work to oust this very dangerous man from the White House, hopefully into permanent exile.

These Elites are about as Republican and Teddy Roosevelt, You know the guy who started the Progressive party and helped elect Woodrow Wilson who ruined free enterprise.

They are the ones that gave us Mitt 'the Progressive' Romney as the new left leaning candidate.

The GOP elite made a strong attempt to turn the GOP into the dem-lite political party. I really thought they had succeeded.

So, RCP declares that GOP Elites "Foisted" Mitt Romney on the "base" and everyone is supposed to just agree with them? Don't think so.. He wasn't "foisted" on anyone! More than 8+ million REPUBLICAN "Elites" in the GOP voted for Mitt Romney in the Primaries. THAT is why he is OUR nominee. Peggy Nooner and the rest of them NEVER supported Mitt Romney and anyone looking at her past meandering comments understands that. Wish they'd all go away and let the GOP get on with the business of winning this Election. Instead they keep giving propaganda to the 'msm' to use against Mitt Romney. Shame on them.

Romney is the candidate because all of the others proved they were nothing more than the crazy uncle in attic.

The Republican establishment elite were fully behind Romney . . . it was one of the reasons I didn't want him as the candidate, his backers are just too suspect with me (too much like Democrats . . . get the power at all costs). Now that they've turned on him I do want him as the candidate. Frankly those elites got rope-a-doped by the media and the Democrats by selective polls and the media's 'Romney has already lost' mantra no matter that most national polls have it a tie and they had to skew the polls for the Democrats to achieve that.

This is so tiresome. Who else - Newt? Sorry, but even fewer non-Republicans would go for him, let alone Sanctorum! I too am a little frustrated with the Romney campaign at this point (though I'm in a state where no ads are being run, so it's hard for me to really tell). I had never gone for Romney before - I was for Giuliani in 2008 - but he was certainly the best of this lot, to me.
