| One of the most interesting aspects of the 2012 election is how the tea party movement has proven more politically mature than the center-right’s self-styled elites, and those who spent much of the Republican primary season chiding swathes of people for being insufficiently pragmatic have turned out to be far more childish than the conservative base. For the past several weeks, Mitt Romney has been surrounded by critics from the DC-Manhattan elite who’ve denounced him for a lackluster, unfocused campaign, teeing off on Team Romney in the wake of the 47 percent comments for a number of issues—but mostly, in
|
Comments: The GOP elite chided the Tea Party during the primaries to get behind Romney. Now that Romney is the candidate, the Tea Party has united behind him, but it's the GOP elite who are criticizing him left and right! I wonder what Sarah Palin would have to say about this article.

Yeah, Peggy Noonan is all upset with Romney. That's going to change my vote for sure.

I have despised White Shoe Republicans since my 20s. Their apogee was Christie Whitman in NJ. Her governorship was all about her and playing footsie with various unions and the state legislature. She was a miserable EPA head (not that the EPA should even exist)with her incompetence clearly showing after 9/11 with her 'all clear' on the city air quality--while particles were still visible every time the wind shifted on the rivers. They are nothing but Eeyores and I hope the 'big tent' pole falls squarely on them!

Nobody foisted Romney on primary voters. He was one of many candidates running and the majority of voters overwhelmingly chose him. This type of conspiracy talk insults the intelligence and decision making capabilities of Republican primary voters. We are not idiots or robots like Obamaphone voters. There was a legitimate process and every candidate had the same opportunity to raise money and make their case to the voters. Peggy Noonan and Bill Kristol are not elites and they do not dictate my vote. Articles like this are a waste of precious time so close to the election. Barack Obama should be the topic of every negative article from the right.

Peggy Noonan is not the GOP establishment, she is a hack journalist and former? Obama supporter. Time for eating our own is after the election. For now we must try to reason with our misguided/ stupid liberal friends. It's all we can do

We go to War with the candidate we have, not the candidate we want. He's no Ronald Reagan- but he's the right man for right now. I was a lot like these unhappy elites when the GOP forced Bob Dole and McCain on us. Romney is different, he is a winner.

#4: I beg to differ. The right leaning elite pundits pushed Romney like crazy. Remember the NRO piece that ripped Gingrich? Remember the ridiculous attacks on Rick Perry with absolutely no defense from those elitists? Over and over Romney was positively portrayed while the others were ridiculed.
I didn't chose Romney, but the time the primaries made it to California he was the only choice left. But I know what's important and getting Obama out of office is crucial to the continued survival of this nation. He's not perfect, but I'm backing him all the way.
Those elitist pundits backed Obama and they're still backing him. They should be ridiculed and shamed.

When I think about the field of candidates we saw on stage during the debates, I would have to say that right now Romney is probably best suited of those to defeat Obama. I still like the way Newt battles, but would be be doing better in a face-off with Obama, given the demographics of this country today?
In any case, I can't even consider thinking about what 2016 would be like if Obama wins. If Obama wins, 2016 election will be the least of our worries. I somehow doubt we'll ever get to an election in 2016 and we'll never recover from an Obama victory in 2012.

We will only know if conservatives' fears about Romney are justified WHEN he sits in the Oval office. Until then, we just have to concentrate on pulling RR over that finish line. Thankfully, the Tea Party is only growing, maturing and will be supporting fine future leaders like West, Love, etc.

The premise is right on. There were many of us of the Tea Party philosophy who did not see Romney as our choice, but once chosen we are now probably his strongest supporters as we work to oust this very dangerous man from the White House, hopefully into permanent exile.

These Elites are about as Republican and Teddy Roosevelt, You know the guy who started the Progressive party and helped elect Woodrow Wilson who ruined free enterprise.
They are the ones that gave us Mitt 'the Progressive' Romney as the new left leaning candidate.
Just like Teddy Roosevelt;Peggy Noonan and the rest of those freaks think the American public is too stupid to run their own lives.
Mitt makes my hair curl when I listen to him talk, typical Northeastern liberal in Republican clothes. Not to mention Romney Care. You can tell he is struggling to sound conservative; it's just not him.
Karl Rove, and the other GOP snobs and weaklings have destroyed the party and if it weren't for ABO, I'd never vote for any of these liars and traitors again.
Long live Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, we scare the bejesus out of both the R and D weasels that seek to control us.
Before I sign off this rant, Real Clear Politics is a joke, the cartoon like articles suck just like their selection of polling data; they are now totally irrelevant and useless, just one more branch of the Communist News Media.

So, RCP declares that GOP Elites "Foisted" Mitt Romney on the "base" and everyone is supposed to just agree with them? Don't think so.. He wasn't "foisted" on anyone! More than 8+ million REPUBLICAN "Elites" in the GOP voted for Mitt Romney in the Primaries. THAT is why he is OUR nominee. Peggy Nooner and the rest of them NEVER supported Mitt Romney and anyone looking at her past meandering comments understands that. Wish they'd all go away and let the GOP get on with the business of winning this Election. Instead they keep giving propaganda to the 'msm' to use against Mitt Romney. Shame on them.

The Republican establishment elite were fully behind Romney . . . it was one of the reasons I didn't want him as the candidate, his backers are just too suspect with me (too much like Democrats . . . get the power at all costs). Now that they've turned on him I do want him as the candidate. Frankly those elites got rope-a-doped by the media and the Democrats by selective polls and the media's 'Romney has already lost' mantra no matter that most national polls have it a tie and they had to skew the polls for the Democrats to achieve that.

Maybe it's time to leave the GOP in the dust and start over from scratch. Because of the GOP we have Romney, who can't seem to campaign his way out of a paper bag. And thanks to the GOP we will now have to suffer 4 more years of Obama - Romney doesn't stand a chance now. Or, perhaps change the GOP to COP -- cowardly old party!!

This is so tiresome. Who else - Newt? Sorry, but even fewer non-Republicans would go for him, let alone Sanctorum! I too am a little frustrated with the Romney campaign at this point (though I'm in a state where no ads are being run, so it's hard for me to really tell). I had never gone for Romney before - I was for Giuliani in 2008 - but he was certainly the best of this lot, to me.

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the Obama administration’s denial of asylum granted to the Romeike family, who fled Germany over its strict anti-homeschooling laws. In a press release Tuesday, Michael Farris, founder and chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), said, “We believe the Sixth Circuit is wrong and we will appeal their decision. America has room for this family and we will do everything we can to help them.” The Romeikes fled Germany in 2008 when they were subjected to criminal prosecution for homeschooling, which is largely illegal in their country.

They are 1 percenters who are 100 percent despicable. Some wealthy Manhattan moms have figured out a way to cut the long lines at Disney World — by hiring disabled people to pose as family members so they and their kids can jump to the front, The Post has learned. The “black-market Disney guides” run $130 an hour, or $1,040 for an eight-hour day. “My daughter waited one minute to get on ‘It’s a Small World’ — the other kids had to wait 2 1/2 hours,” crowed one mom, who hired a disabled guide through Dream Tours Florida.

The shadow of Watergate is looming larger over the growing IRS and Associated Press leaks scandals amid I-know-nothing denials from the president and his attorney general, with Republicans smelling blood in the water and a former Nixon official saying the Obama administration needs to avoid the impulse to cover up. First it gets blamed on some low-level employee and then it tracks back to Washington,” said Keith Appell, a Republican strategist based in Washington, D.C. “All the way back to Watergate when it was blamed on some third-rate burglary. The Internal Revenue Service scandal would be bad enough if the IRS just handled issues like collecting income taxes and granting nonprofit status. But the immensely powerful federal agency is about to become even more powerful with the arrival of national health care, and that makes the still-unfolding scandal even more troubling. (Snip) The IRS is critical to Obamacare. The structure created by the Affordable Care Act requires the government to know about both the health care coverage (or lack of it) and the financial resources of every American. The IRS, which already knows the latter, was the only

Victoria Toensing, Republican Counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee, says her client, a State Department official now considered a whistle-blower in the investigation of the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, has been "threatened" by Obama administration officials. According to Toensing, these threats weren´t related to ambiguous matters. Rather, they were "specifically about Benghazi." She says the threats went beyond the four State Department officials who´ve currently retained counsel. "People have been threatened at the CIA" as well, she claimed. (Snip) Toensing claimed the threats relate to ending the careers of those with information about the attacks who

The debate is raging over whether the latest immigration bill is an amnesty for illegal immigrants, but one part is clear: The legislation would forgive businesses that have employed those immigrants illegally. Employers who have allowed illegal immigrants to work off the books can come forward safely and provide their work history without fear of prosecution, and businesses that knowingly employed someone using a bogus or stolen Social Security number likewise would get a pass, according to an analysis of the bill by the Center for Immigration Studies, a think tank that wants a crackdown on immigration.

Greeley, Colo.—Two billboards in which images of Native Americans are used to make a gun rights argument are causing a stir with some residents who say the image is offensive and insensitive. The billboards in this northern Colorado city show three men dressed in traditional Native American attire and the words "Turn in your arms. The government will take care of you." Matt Wells, an account executive with Lamar Advertising in Denver, said Monday a group of local residents purchased the space. "They have asked to remain anonymous," he said. He also refused to disclose the cost, but said the

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

Watching President Obama trying to dodge raindrops and responsibility yesterday reminded me of the moment when Dorothy pulls back the curtain and discovers that the Wizard of Oz is “just a man.” Stripped of his spell of mystery and power, the wizard is worse than mortal. He’s a fake. So it was with Obama in the Rose Garden. His performance was tired and trite, ordinary to the point of dull. His veneer of passion was so transparent that you could see him trying to summon his old-time magic by pushing the buttons

STANDING BEFORE reporters Thursday, President Obama declined an invitation to compare the recent scandals weighing down his administration with those that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes. Mr. Obama has done nothing of the kind.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

President Obama’s press conference in the rain was not a success, if by success, his supporters would mean an event which convinces anyone who doesn’t work for him that he’s getting ahead of the scandal deluge. The sight of a Marine holding an umbrella over his head only added to the weirdness of the event. So what did we learn? 1. He has full confidence in Attorney General Eric Holder, the man who purportedly recused himself (whenever) without putting it in writing (whatever). The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
