New Data on Wyo. Frack
Site Await Interpretation

Associated Press, by Mead Gruver

Original Article

The meaning of reams of new data from groundwater testing in a remote Wyoming gas field where the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sparked concern last year will be a matter of interpretation. Does the new science shore up damnation of hydraulic fracturing — the petroleum industry practice of blasting water, sand and chemicals deep beneath the water table? Or does it refute criticism of the technique as too much anxious hand-wringing? No one is making either claim yet.

Comments:
The USGS brilliantly released the data with no "interpretation". They keep themselves above the fray and the lawyers. No political agenda, just look at the numbers. The numbers are very different than what EPA presented.

Here is a much better balanced article

Most likely mw002 was contaminated from surface run-off or deliberately spiked by epa supporter watermelons.

...they couldn't extract enough water for a reliable sample from the well that showed the highest amount of benzene last year.

The other well is a 3% of the fed limit?

What total BS! This should end the debate, period. This proves that the enviro-whiners are wrong, again. Wrong on global warming, wrong on fracking, what hysteria will be next?

Will they learn that there is more to science than forming a hypothesis, and taking civil action?

I believe the millions and billions of tons of rock on top of each other and grinding and pushing back and forth might, just might produce some cracking of the rocks.

See mountains, continental plates, ocean rifts etc.

Man drilling a little old hole in the ground is hardly the cause of anything nature notices.

Here's the other thing that drives me crazy. In the article the reporter states that the new data found benzene at 3% of the EPA limit.

The maximum contaminant level (MCL) of benzene is 0.005 mg/l (or parts per million, PPM) at 3% the level of benzene found by USGS in the water is 0.00015 PPM or 0.15 parts per billion (PPB), which, if I recall correctly, is below the detection limit for the analysis proposed by the USGS.

Insanity.

The 'interpretation' is obvious. A quick look at the data proves that the enviro-weenies are WRONG! The data proves that their 'concerns' are completely unfounded.

Let's get the EPA going on something much bigger. Chicken Little's fears.

The case gained international attention and became a rallying point for anti-bullying advocates. But investigators have found no evidence that a school-yard fight had anything to do with the death of sixth grader Bailey O´Neill, the Delaware County district attorney said Monday. The death was the result of epileptic seizures, District Attorney Jack Whelan said. e said his office did plan to file juvenile-level simple-assault charges. Whelan said an autopsy by Edwin Lieberman of the Philadelphia Medical Examiner´s Office revealed "no physical finding of trauma or evidence that trauma played a role"...

DENVER — People who test positive for smoking pot can legally be fired from their job, the Colorado Court of Appeals ruled Thursday in deciding that there is no employment protection for marijuana users. In a split decision issued on Thursday, the court said marijuana use is still barred by the federal government, even though state-licensed marijuana use has been approved by voters and is considered lawful.

U.S. law enforcement officials said Tuesday that a Saudi national injured in the Boston Marathon bombing is regarded as a witness, not a suspect. The Saudi, who is recuperating at a Boston hospital, is in his 20s and is in the United States on a Saudi scholarship to study at a university in the Boston area. The federal officials’ explanation echoed comments by a Saudi official at the country’s embassy in Washington. The embassy official said that a Saudi national has been questioned as a witness but is not regarded as a suspect.

The U.S. Department of Justice soon will have another tough decision to make about Lance Armstrong. Should it join forces with a confessed cheater — Floyd Landis — to pursue the vast fortunes of his former cheating teammate? Or should it move on from cycling´s vicious cycle ? After nearly three years of consideration, that´s the bottom line now as the government decides what to do with a civil fraud lawsuit filed by Landis against Armstrong in 2010. A decision could come this week. And the stakes could exceed $90 million.

When Dick Yuengling bought a round of beers for more than 10,000 Philadelphians on National Drink Beer Day last year, he said "the city has truly shown our family business brotherly love, and we´d like to raise a glass to that." Now, Dick Yuengling may be throwing back a few of his own brews after receiving a civil lawsuit from the city that claims his brewery, D.G. Yuengling and Son Inc., has failed to pay more than $6.6 million in city taxes, interest and penalty fees.

A grand jury investigating Jonbenet Ramsey´s death voted to indict her parents on child abuse resulting in death, according to an exclusive report by our partners at The Boulder Daily Camera. However, then-Boulder County District Attorney Alex Hunter refused to sign the indictment and prosecute the case, the Camera reports. Hunter reportedly believed he could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt. The 6-year-old beauty queen was found dead in her home on Christmas night in 1996.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
