Three of the founding members of the Beach Boys have been unceremoniously dumped midway through their UK tour. Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks were informed of the news via a statement issued by Mike Love - the band's frontman and Wilson's cousin - that the tour would be continuing without them. Their places will be filled by Bruce Johnston - a second generation member - and a selection of session musicians. The statement read: 'The post-50th anniversary configuration will not include Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks. The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be

Comments:
Whenever someone someday publishes the "Big Book of Rock & Roll Villains" a large chapter will be dedicated to Mike Love.

How do you fire Brian Wilson from his own band? Granted, he's not the same creative force he was at the age of 24, but... Geeze...

I guess they got tired of having him perform with his walker?

Reminds me of the bumper sticker you'd see from time to time driving around Beverly Hills during the 1970s:

"Warning: I brake for Brian Wilson."

I'd rather not get into it. Beach Boys and 57 Chevys are in the pantheon. These old geezers aren't boys anymore. There's your problem.

So Love did this in the middle of the UK tour?
Ha. How'd you like to have tickets to the next show? "Got refund?"

While waiting for the intelligent programming that follows his show I was listening to the Alan Combs show one evening. He was interviewing the Boy's about the upcoming 50th anniversary fleece, I mean tour. It did bring back some pleasant memories, and for once Skeletor sounded reasonable, but I thought this ain't gonna work.

I was glad when coast to coast came on so I get some undistorted facts about UFO's

I saw them this summer with Al, Brian and David, and it was a very enjoyable show. Al's voice and Brian's voice and songwriting were huge parts of their classic sound. Mike owns the band name and can do what he wants with it, but it's a real shame.

I read Brian Wilson's book from 1991. If even half of the stuff in there about Mike Love is true, then he is a complete and total lowlife.

I've seen the Beach Boys on numerous occasions... since the 60s, although admittedly not for 10 or 12 years.

Mike Love cracked jokes, was "lead" vocalist for a few novelty tunes, and played 4 notes on a saxophone. He was entertaining, but was a peripheral part of the group compared with the Wilson brothers.

Whatever. I'm a fan, but nowadays am totally satisfied to be a recorded music fan of theirs.

They were the 1st band I got into....early 60s. I still have their 1st albums, and will cherish them forever. Every once in a while, I think about the 1st girl I fell head over heels for and the song we both loved...God Only Knows. But, truth be told, the day Carl died...it was over. The brothers were great...period. Brian's a genius, but he's also crackers. I never really cared for Mike Love...he's always been the "Lounge Lizard" type. And he's not really all that talented.

Got all their stuff on Viyl, and most of it duplicated on CD. They are my favorite band of all time.........but Mike & Bruce aren't The Beach Boys!

AMHERST, N.Y. - An Amherst man who had his guns taken away by the state is speaking out after the state admitted it made a mistake by suspending his pistol permit. David Lewis is the man State Police deemed so mentally ill he was unfit to own a gun. They recommended to a state judge that the 34-year-old librarian´s pistol permit be suspended and the judge signed the order. (*SNIP*) Tresmond also claims State Police have lined up a special unit to circumvent federal HIPAA laws to pry into gun owners´ medical records, which State Police deny.

AMHERST, N.Y. - State Police forced an Amherst man to turn in his guns after suspending his pistol permit over anti-anxiety medication. But now they say it was all a misunderstanding. Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs said, "Today, we all look like fools." "David," a 34-year-old college librarian, recently had his pistol permit taken away. Erie County´s Licensing Officer, Supreme Court Justice William Boller, was following a recommendation from State Police that David´s permit be revoked because he used anti-anxiety medication in the past.

An orderly protest over the death of an armed 16-year-old turned into a riot in Brooklyn tonight after young people started lashing out at NYPD officers. Between 60 and 100 rioters gathered around Church and Snyder Ave. in East Flatbush and threw bottles and other debris at police, witnesses said, following a vigil for Kimani Gray, 16, who was shot dead by two plainclothes officers over the weekend. One person has been arrested, though no injuries have been reported. They were lashing out at the NYPD, who they believe are responsible for the teen’s death.

N.Y. gun law mandates
magazines that don´t exist

ROCHESTER — Starting April 15, New York will have the smallest gun magazine limit in the country, and all signs indicate no gun makers have plans to accommodate it. Gun manufacturers have never had a reason to make a magazine with fewer than 10 rounds, because no state required it until now. And, as far as local gun dealers and the Democrat and Chronicle have been able to determine, there are no manufacturers planning to make seven-round magazines. This means that in less than two months, gun dealers such as Paul Martin, owner of Pro-Gun Services in Victor…

CHICAGO — A federal appeals court won´t reconsider an earlier ruling that Illinois´ concealed carry ban is unconstitutional. A three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Illinois´ ban in December and gave lawmakers until June 8 to legalize the concealed carry of firearms. Attorney General Lisa Madigan asked for all 10 judges to review the decision, saying it conflicted with decisions by other federal appellate courts and goes beyond what the U.S. Supreme Court has held. Illinois is the only state in the nation that still has a ban in place.

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. He said he didn´t reveal conclusions of the probe, which was in its early stages, and his disclosure came as part

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
