British actor Idris Elba can´t play James Bond because he´s black, a US shock jock has claimed. Elba - who achieved international fame in his role as Russell ´Stringer´ Bell in HBO hit The Wire - is the front runner to eventually replace Daniel Craig as 007. But radio host Rush Limbaugh said on his show on Tuesday that Elba should not be considered to play the famous secret agent, the Daily Mail reports."James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is, was," Limbaugh said. "But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba,

In the spirit of the season (the spirit is harsh, blanket judgement), the website Mediaite conducted a survey of cable news hosts from CNN, Fox News and MSNBC which asked respondents to rank their colleagues from best to worst. Unsurprisingly (or, perhaps, surprisingly since Bill O’Reilly was nominated in the same category), Sean Hannity was voted Worst Host on Fox News. Hannity was really sad and mad about it and had to stomp around Twitter to cool off. But guys, he wasn’t mad. Caps just easier read.

He´s no secret Muslim. But President Obama is a secret science geek who "ponders honeybee colony collapse disorder, fusion energy, and climate change," when the cameras aren´t rolling. That´s according to John Holdren, Mr. Obama’s chief adviser on science and technology, who in an interview with NPR, revealed his boss´s little-known secret obsession. Recommended: Are you scientifically literate? Take our quiz “First of all he is a science geek,” Mr. Holdren told NPR’s "Living Lab on the Point" program, adding that Obama is “enormously interested in and enormously well-informed about science technology innovation.” “I can never predict what kind of question

Bah, humbug! A passenger was tossed off a plane at La Guardia Airport on Tuesday after flipping out — because airline workers wished him a merry Christmas. The man was waiting to board American Airlines Flight 1140 to Dallas when a cheerful gate agent began welcoming everyone with the Yuletide greeting while checking boarding passes. The grumpy passenger, who appeared to be traveling alone, barked at the woman, “You shouldn’t say that because not everyone celebrates Christmas.” The agent replied, “Well, what should I say then?” “Don’t say, ‘Merry Christmas!’?” the man shouted before brushing past her.

Close to 200 people, many from San Francisco’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, blocked streets in and around the city’s Castro District on Wednesday morning, rallying against what they described as systemic police violence toward minorities. The demonstration is the latest action in the Bay Area following the police killings of unarmed black men in Missouri and New York. Wednesday’s group — made up of people of varying ages and ethnicities — amassed at Market Street and Octavia Boulevard, blocking the Highway 101 ramps temporarily before marching down Market. (Snip) “We’re here! We’re queer! Black lives matter!” the crowd chanted.

A sixty-year-old crucifix in a small Austrian town has met an inglorious end after being cut down by a recent addition to the neighbourhood who declared it an “eyesore” and attacked it with an angle-grinder. The cross, which was erected in the Grossenzersdorf, a small suburb of Vienna, after the Second World War, (snip) stood on the grass verge outside one of the properties on Grossenzersdorf’s Augasse. Shortly after the new resident, a man described by local media as ‘Egyptian’ moved in, he started complaining to neighbours and even his local government about the crucifix.

Making sense of the Christmas mystery

The Christmas story of God, Creator of the universe, putting on a fleshly baby outfit and coming down to earth to be born in a dirty stable disguised as an infant, then eventually giving his life to save humanity, doesn’t make any sense to unbelievers. This frankly boggling account sometimes doesn’t even make sense to devoted Christians who pray, attend church and search the Bible to discover how and why God does what He does. Atheists like to mock Christians, saying we worship an invisible sky fairy, the great flying raccoon deity, or whatever. They call themselves “brights” in contrast
