O´Rourke faces sharp backlash from left
Hill [Washington DC], by Amie Parnes

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) has faced sharp backlash from progressives in the days since his presidential campaign launched to great fanfare last week. Left-leaning Democrats have criticized O’Rourke for a string of comments made in a Vanity Fair story preceding the opening of his campaign and in his subsequent days on the trail. Some of the remarks — such as O’Rourke’s statement to Vanity Fair, referring to the presidential race, that he was “just born to be in it” — have fanned complaints that the Texan is blinded by “white privilege.” Others have brought charges of sexism or

I would love to know what P.J. O´Rourke thinks of "Beto" O´Rourke. That would be one rollicking fun column to read.

The left had better be careful which nametags they pin on Beto. Things like "Stupid" and "Unaccomplished" apply to many of them. He´s working for the GOP candidates right now by drawing money out of liberal white women so let him campaign his socks off.

Everyone has a plan until you get punched in the mouth. For the Left, their allies in the media, and the Democratic Party, the drumming has been relentless, so severe that dental records might have to be used to identify their bashed in political personas. For two years, these anti-Trump forces said President Trump, his campaign, and the Kremlin colluded to tilt the 2016 election. They thought he was a Putin asset—all of this unadulterated crap that was backed up with zero evidence. Half the country knew this claim was trash. Half didn’t in a pathetic way to cope

The Electoral College may be ‘medieval’
— but it’s a bulwark of our democracy

Sen. Elizabeth Warren has reignited the debate over the Electoral College — she wants to get rid of it, naturally. I say “reignited” because this is a very old argument. But I’m going to skip rehashing the usual — and to my mind, persuasive — arguments in favor of the Electoral College. Arguments against it tend to boil down to two gripes: It’s very old-fashioned, and it’s undemocratic. In 2016, the last time we had this kerfuffle, “Handbook of Electoral System Choice” author Josep Colomer wrote in The Washington Post: “The US electoral college is a medieval relic

Decades after Atlanta child murders, families
hope for a breakthrough in new review of evidence
CNN, by Hollie Silverman and Madison Park    Original Article

For decades, Catherine Leach has never accepted the official explanation about who was behind the series of killings in Atlanta that terrorized the city and left her teenage son dead. Her 13-year-old son, Curtis Walker, was one of 29 mostly black children who were killed from 1979 to 1981 in a spate of crimes that became known as the Atlanta child murders. During those tense three years, children vanished, only to have their bodies turn up days later, with many of them having been strangled. The killings haunted Atlanta and brought grief to families, but also festered racial suspicions.

Florida, with its plentiful beaches, warm weather, and lack of a state income tax, is the most popular destination for older adults in the U.S. But some who have lived in the Sunshine State for years are moving in the opposite direction. As damaging storms and other effects of climate change have hit Florida particularly hard in the past few years, some older adults living there have become concerned about their safety and their ability to enjoy retirement. So they’re fleeing this otherwise balmy state. About 52,630 people ages 65 and over left Florida in 2017, versus 48,174 in

NASHVILLE, TENN. — Since losing the race for Georgia governor, Stacey Abrams has trekked to England to speak to college students and traveled across Georgia on a “thank-you tour.” She’s hawked her book at a campus in Nashville, the Gramercy Theatre in New York and a conference of lesbian tech leaders in San Francisco. She’s appeared on a Super Bowl ad with a Republican, journeyed on MARTA trains to promote Gwinnett County’s transit referendum, hit the late-night talk show circuit and drawn huge crowds to podcast tapings. She’s delivered the State of the Union Democratic response, dined with presidential contenders

The apparent scoop du jour is that ex-VP Joe Biden is set to announce his bid with his running mate already picked out: former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. Suggestions for his VP thus far have been a who’s-who of the current field of competition for the nomination, including Harris and O’Rourke. Abrams possibly becoming The Chosen One is somewhat surprising, because her star has only so recently begun its ascendency — but not too surprising, because of her fierce intellect, warm demeanor and popularity. Stacey Abrams exudes good sense and kindness, delivered with impeccable poise: that’s the impression most

Cory Booker´s in love, he´s in love, he´s in love, he´s in love, he´s in love with a wonderful person who sports female genitalia! Booker, who is NOT gay, spilled the beans during a visit with Ellen DeGeneres, who IS gay! Just who is this new squeeze of Booker´s who is also a woman? Rosario Dawson! Need a moment to catch your breath? No? Me neither. Anyhow, here´s what heterosexual Cory Booker had to say on the matter: "She was wonderful and she’s just an incredible human being." Golly, I wonder how he feels about her in the present tense?

Democrat 2020 candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke warned from the campaign trail in South Carolina Friday night there may not be another year of America if the Mueller report is not made public. “Republicans and Democrats should do whatever they can to make sure their constituents, the American people, can read that report, form their own judgement, make their own decisions, and that the truth comes out,” O’Rourke said at a campaign stop in South Carolina Friday. O’Rourke warned that America may not see another year if details of Russian interference in the 2016 election included in the Mueller report are

Barbra Streisand is under fire for comments she made about two men accusing Michael Jackson of sexually assaulting them as children. The legendary singer and actress said that Wade Robson and James Safechuck — whose allegations against the late King of Pop resurfaced in the recent documentary “Leaving Neverland" — “were thrilled to be there” and that what allegedly happened to them “didn’t kill them." Streisand, 76, made the strange comments to British newspaper The Times in a piece out Friday, in which she also said that Jackson’s “sexual needs were his sexual needs.”

The San Antonio City Council banned Chick-fil-A from San Antonio International Airport over “anti-LGBTQ behavior” as part of a new concession plan for the airport. District 1 City Councilman Roberto Treviño motioned to approve the Food, Beverage and Retail Prime Concession Agreement with Paradies Lagardère for the airport Thursday on condition Chick-fil-A be excluded from the agreement. Treviño asserted Chick-fil-A has a “legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior” and that such a business had no place in the city’s airport. (Snip) the restaurant would have liked to have had a dialogue with it prior to the decision.

This spelling and grammar test from the 1980s is so difficult that it is claimed no one can get more than 50 per cent of the answers right. The 20-question quiz promises to leave even the brightest brains scratching their heads. Indeed it is so tricky that its creator, Playbuzz user Terry Stein, claims players will ´never´ be able to score more than 10 out of 20. So if you think you have what it takes then scroll down to take the test in full. But the answers are at the bottom - so no cheating...

Even though we do not yet know exactly what the Mueller Report says, we do now know that no other indictments are in the works. No collusion with Russia by the Trump campaign was found. So, the self-assured and confident predictions by so many on the left that they had seen "cold, hard evidence," and that Mueller would find copious evidence of "collusion" with Russia, was just wishful thinking alone. They all had to know the infamous "dossier" was faked.

First of all, of course everyone should wait to see the contents of the actual Mueller report before drawing any specific final conclusions about it. But here are some laws of nature in the modern age: If that report contained a fraction of the damaging material breathlessly awaited in the media culture for two years, there would be some smoke signal of it. Instead, we saw an actual finding from the Justice Department that there would be no further indictments from the probe. No indictment of Trump. No indictment of anyone associated with the campaign or the administration to support
