´threaten collapse of nature´

The world’s insects are hurtling down the path to extinction, threatening a “catastrophic collapse of nature’s ecosystems”, according to the first global scientific review. More than 40% of insect species are declining and a third are endangered, the analysis found. The rate of extinction is eight times faster than that of mammals, birds and reptiles. The total mass of insects is falling by a precipitous 2.5% a year, according to the best data available, suggesting they could vanish within a century. The planet is at the start of a sixth mass extinction in its history, with huge losses already

I live in Florida, land of bugs and snakes. I haven´t seen any reduction in palmetto bugs, spiders or the little lizards that feast on them. I really, really wouldn´t mind if the flies and mosquitoes and ticks left the planet for good.

My initial response to this is "I doubt it." and I have no basis for that evaluation besides my summative evaluation of science related to global warming as poorly designed and executed bad thinking and outright lies.

That is unfortunate and potentially dangerous. Like for the boy who cried wolf, if a real wolf appears, no one believes it. It is sad that "science" has discredited itself to the point where we cannot implicitly trust it.

The article suggests we have to change the way we grow food, and that overpopulation and over-consumption by humans is the problem (that from failed Cassandra Paul Ehrlich).

No problem. Less food, fewer people, and skinnier happier people.

We can look to socialist paradises to see how well this works. Venezuelans, for example, lost an average of 24 lbs last year! How happy they must be!

The demise of the bugs "is thought to be" because of climate change, of course. Which makes it all our fault. Just us.

Articles like this one really bug me.

I guess "Global Warming" is failing with this latest cold snap- so, now we will have to have the "Madrid Insect Summit" and call on all nations to give their wealth to overcome the Global insect birth collapse.

Or is this really about plummeting DemoKKKrat voters? perhaps I lost something by reading only the first few sentences of the article.

Yes, lets ban agriculture, i.e., our food--to save insects. UnFortunately, in 10 years under the Green manifesto, we will have no cows or cattle and thus no dung and dung Beatles. In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled to drastically curb the powers that states and cities have to levy fines and seize property, marking the first time the court has applied the Constitution’s ban on excessive fines at the state level. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who returned to the court for the first time in almost two months after undergoing surgery for lung cancer, wrote the majority opinion in the case involving an Indiana man who had his Land Rover seized after he was arrested for selling $385 of heroin. “Protection against excessive fines has been a constant shield

Who would have thought that, this deep into the Russia collusion probe, we´d be learning about yet another dossier connected to Hillary Clinton? And, as it turns out, it was sort of a family secret. By his own account, senior Department of Justice (DOJ) official Bruce Ohr played an essential — and unorthodox — role, carrying politically tainted allegations of Donald Trump-Russia collusion to the FBI during the 2016 election. First, it was unverified intelligence starting in July 2016 from Trump-hating former British spy Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous Russia dossier.

For Sens. Kamala D. Harris and Cory A. A federal judge ruled Tuesday that a lawsuit filed by an advocacy group hoping to halt construction of former President Barack Obama´s $500 million presidential center on Chicago´s South Side can proceed. U.S. District Judge John Robert Blakey, who was nominated to the federal bench by Obama in 2014, ruled that Protect Our Parks has standing to sue the city because it represents taxpayers with concerns that providing land in Jackson Park to the Obama center violates their due process rights. The judge indicated that he doesn´t want the litigation to drag on,
