Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized after a fall in her office that led her to fracture three of her ribs, it was announced Thursday. The 85-year old was admitted ´for observation and treatment´ after the Wednesday fall, according to a statement put out by the Supreme Court. (Snip)The hospital treatment meant that she was not present as President Trump went to the high court Thursday for the formal swearing in ceremony for Justice Brett Kavanaugh. He took the First Lady Melania Trump with him for the trip to the opposite end of Pennsylvania Avenue, where the first

Enough about the psychiatrists. What about her ribs?

I´m sorry for her as a person, but according to a physician friend, most people´s health drops off dramatically once they turn 80. Long past time for her to retire.

I have a relative that is a physical therapist that works with senior citizens.

She told me that, especially for women (because of their poor bone density), when a person over 80 falls and breaks bones, it is usually a death sentence.

While I wouldn´t wish that on anyone, you know the folks at the DNC know this, and they are rounding up the regular cast of accusers and witnesses to attack President Trump´s next Supreme Court nominee -- WHOEVER that is!!!!!

#4, that may be true as a statistical matter but not always. At 80, there can be a chance for a complete recovery from a fall that results in broken bones. At 90, a fall is more likely to cause a decline in physical and/or mental activity but is not necessarily fatal. Don´t forget that most people over 90 have a relatively short life span in any event. What this means for RBG at 85 is that she certainly has a chance of full recovery. Her situation should be more one of trying to prevent future falls, which become more dangerous the older one gets.

I wish her a speedy recovery. I have to wonder why she fell - tripped, dizzy spell, fell asleep and fell out of her chair, blacked out, the possible reasons are varied, and not especially good for someone 86 years old. It should be a reason to consider retirement, but I doubt she will. She´s too determined to outlast PDJT. She doesn´t have the final say, though.

She has looked sort of “crumpled” (for want of a better description) for some time. Usually the look that victims of osteoporosis end up with. Very weak in her upper body, curled over.

(hit submit too soon)

Re #4, that prognosis is usually due to the possibility that the elder person (male or female) who is unable or unwilling to exercise and get out of bed after a broken bone often contracts pneumonia and other afflictions that go with being bedridden. More apt to follow a broken hip or leg.

It is really important for them to get good care and rehabilitative PT. Not always possible. Sometimes they are weary and just give up and give in.

Federal prosecutors in New York are investigating President Donald Trump’s inaugural committee amid suspicion that a portion of the $107 million it raised was misspent, according to a report. The Wall Street Journal states the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office is in the beginning stages of probing whether the committee’s most prominent donors made sizable contributions “in exchange for access to the incoming Trump administration, policy concessions or to influence official administration positions.”The Journal reports: The investigation partly arises out of materials seized in the federal probe of former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s business dealings, according to people familiar with the

President Trump has canceled the White House media Christmas party. Let´s hope he and future presidents make this an annual tradition. Howard Kurtz reports that the nixing of the decades old tradition was the latest victim of Trump´s contentious relationship with the White House press corps. The Left likes to say that Donald Trump is the reason that American political discourse has fallen to its current low point, but is he really? Or is this just more blame-shifting by the left-wing media? On Wednesday´s episode of "The Michael Knowles Show," Knowles had something to say about this, especially after MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski´s name-calling of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. "There’s this ridiculous canard that we keep hearing in the mainstream media, which is that Donald Trump is the reason why our political discourse is rude," Knowles said. Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday said she’s tired of fielding constant questions about President Trump’s legal troubles and whether her caucus will seek impeachment next year, and she said the media´s ratings would increase if they covered stories other than Trump. “I wish the press would spend a lot more time on what we need to do here to meet the needs of the American people instead of morning, noon, and night allegations against the president,” said Pelosi, D-Calif. “There are other things going on that are newsworthy,” she added after a CNN reporter asked her about Trump.

The Boy Scouts of America is mulling declaring bankruptcy amid flagging membership and an avalanche of costly sex abuse allegations, according to the Wall Street Journal. Leaders have hired Chicago law firm Sidley Austin for help in a potential Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, sources told the outlet. The organization has been fending off lawsuits over alleged abuse, including one filed by four former scouts who called the club a “pedophile magnet” and alleged that they were molested by scoutmaster Waldron Ackerman between 1974 and 1976. The organization has reportedly lost two-thirds of its members — some 4 million boys —

If Tuesday’s instantly famous Oval Office meeting is a harbinger of things to come, it’s going to be a long two years for “Chuck and Nancy.” Presidents can be intimidating, and Trump had home court advantage during Tuesday’s meeting. However, Chuck Schumer seemed especially outmatched by a very forceful Donald Trump. Two groups of migrants from Central America marched to the American consulate in Tijuana, Mexico, yesterday, with a list of demands to the Trump administration. One of them asked the American president to either let them in the country or pay them $50,000 each to go home, a report said. The first group, including about 100 migrants, arrived at the consulate around 11am on Tuesday. Alfonso Guerreo Ulloa, an organizer from Honduras, told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the $50,000 figure is not a very big sum. ´It may seem like a lot of money to you,´ he said.

When Professor Christine Blasey-Ford testified against the Supreme Court nomination of then-Judge Bret Kavanaugh, my very first impression was that her voice sounded fake. She sounded like a scared little girl, her voice tremulous, creating an impression of sadness and vulnerability.
