Tuesday’s Supreme Court decision will affect
a key November Senate race; Ginsburg’s

The U.S. Supreme Court will allow a North Dakota law requiring voters to produce government ID with a current residential street address when casting ballots to take effect. The decision, which came Tuesday and drew a brief dissent, will affect one November’s most critical Senate races. A group of American Indians challenged the residential street address requirement, arguing that it imposes “impossible and severe burdens on the franchise for Native American voters,” as many live on reservations or otherwise lack ordinary street addresses. A federal judge agreed and prohibited the law. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals lifted that

FTA:

Kavanaugh did not participate in Tuesday’s decision, though he heard oral arguments for the first time as a justice earlier in the day.

I am one of those persons who does not have mail delivery to my residential address. All of my mail goes to a PO box.
The Post Office will not drive up our mountain road and the mailbox kept getting destroyed or stolen out on the main road.

Well, I would assume that if you have a photo ID and have someone sign an affidavit for you stating that you live in the district that would be sufficient. You would then vote provisionally and then there would be a follow up as to where you actually lived. We used to accept an electric bill with your name & address on it. That does not work if you have a PO Box. The thing about the Reservations is that some people live one place in the summer and somewhere else in the winter. If you are living in the same district no problem. But what if you are like the New York & Ohio snow birds who have a ´six month + one day residence in Florida to avoid taxes? Can you vote in both states? I´m sure some do!

Kavanaugh sat this one out. Still means the decision was 6/2, with Ginsburger and Kagan dissenting.

This is a nothing-Gingsburger. Another poke at the democrat machine trying to destroy free and fair elections.

Gotta have an ID to buy alcohol, fly in a plane, etc. Why shouldn´t you have to have an ID to prove you´re eligible to vote. Stupid argument to start with. Means only a stupid person would disagree with needing one.

MAGA!!! KAG!!! Bye, bye Ms. Hide-camp.

I live in ND, and virtually every part of the state has a street address. They were established years ago for the purposes of 911 dispatch.

As #6 said, regardless of where your mail is delivered, you have a "street address" for E-911.

And you must have government-issued ID to enter any Federal Building.

I´m not in ND, but I would fail the Gov´t ID with res addr. All of my IDs have the PO box or I would not have received them. Taxes, jury duty, vehicle registration, voter info, any bill, if it has my home address on it, it will not get to me. I don´t even know that it didn´t. I have documents with both addresses on them so I´m assuming there is a provision that I could use if this were to come to Calif. Hahahahaha!

Certainly the local Fire Dept. knows where you live - your house is on a MapQuest or Google digital map. The aerial photograph is accessible to the local governments.

In other words, the American Indians are not smart enough to figure out how to vote legally. Or, how many busloads of ´´American Indians´´ will arrive from New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and other places?

Democrats are so....

#10 gets it.
Although Heidi the frumpy lady is so far behind, the Soros crowd may not bother to rig the vote.
(just wondering - how does the Department of Interior, which keeps track of ´enrolled´ indians handle their records? Wouldn´t Interior (BIA) want good addresses?)

There is a difference between your mailing address, which may be a PO box, and your residential address, where you actually live.

Try to get an ambulance to show up at your PO box in case of an emergency at home.

BTW: #3, I know many tax-evading snowbirds wintering in Palm Beach County who vote in two states, one being FLA. As "non-residents" they also complain loudly when their "home state" goes after them for taxes. There are also a few Canadiens doing the same. Mon Dieu!

#12, finger-print technology would certainly take care of that, and many other issues related to voting.

Imagine, everyone had to give their finger print as part of the registration process.

The data base would be crossed-checked to remove anyone who has been declared dead, been institutionalized(mental or prison), and would be linked to search across state lines too.
Voting twice would be impossible, as would anyone who is not eligible.

Heck, you need to give your finger print to enter Universal Studios in Orlando. When I asked, they said it was to protect the integrity of your ticket.
Think of that, your ticket to Universal is more secure than your voter registration?

Big brother national solution, #14. I know, just a fingerprint...improved voting security through electronics. Facial recognition, anyone?

If the states only did their duty in the first place...Florida doesn´t seem too concerned, nor do Ohio or NY, if they get their tax money.

French President Emmanuel Macron has caved in to Yellow Vest protesters, declaring a state of emergency and agreeing to a range of economic concessions after weeks of violence swept his country. Addressing the nation at the Presidential Elysee Palace this evening Mr Macron promised to increase the minimum wage, stop taxing overtime pay and decrease pension contributions from 2019. Declaring a ´social and economic´ state of emergency, he took responsibility for the violent protests in Paris and dozens of other French cities in the name of the ´Yellow Vest´ movement. WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday left lower court victories intact for Planned Parenthood in a legal battle with states over access by Medicaid patients to the group´s services. The dispute did not involve abortion, but the action by the justices keeps a hot-button political issue off the docket. Three of the court´s conservatives said the court should have taken the case. After an anti-abortion group released videos in 2015 that purported to show officials from Planned Parenthood talking about selling fetal tissue, several states immediately terminated Medicaid provider agreements with the group´s affiliates. The videos were largely

In an age when doomsday predictions are as common as thunderstorms, it can be instructive to look back at events and compare the predictions to what actually happened. The decision by President Trump to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is an example that offers major lessons. Long before Trump made the announcement on Dec. 6, 2017, and pledged to move our embassy to Jerusalem, there were endless warnings that the change would cause global unrest. Opponents in America, Europe and the Arab world, including current and former government officials, vehemently insisted the peace process between Israel and Palestinians would be

President Trump´s first tweets of this Monday addressed Friday´s court filing by the Southern District of New York, which said Trump´s former personal attorney Michael Cohen "played a central role" in suppressing the stories of Stormy Daniel and Karen McDougal, who claimed to have had extra-marital affairs with Trump. Cohen told prosecutors he did so, "in coordination with and at the direction of" Trump, "with the intent to influence the 2016 presidential election." "As a result of Cohen’s actions, neither woman spoke to the press prior to the election," the court filing said. Trump, for the first time, addressed the alleged

Legal trouble for President Trump is coming from all sides. There’s evidence Paul Manafort was still communicating with the White House this year. There’s evidence suggesting the Russian government was offering “synergy” with the Trump campaign. There’s further evidence Trump directed Michael Cohen to make the hush-money payments to pornographer Stormy Daniels. It’s still very unclear whether Trump broke any laws. It’s perfectly clear, however, that Trump got himself in this perfectly avoidable mess through bad behavior. “Prosecutors’ Narrative Is Clear: Trump Defrauded Voters.” So declares the first part of the headline of a New York Times article by Peter Baker and Nicholas Fandos. The rest of the headline asks “But What Does It Mean?” Good question. It may mean that the prosecutors haven’t found a crime, but are still pi**ed off that Trump won the election. I find odd the notion that Trump defrauded voters. No candidate in my lifetime ever painted a clearer, more vivid picture of himself for voters. For better or for worse,
