The last member of the rescue team to leave the Thai cave, Australian doctor Richard Harris, has lost his father. Harris’s boss Andrew Pearce says in a statement the father had died shortly after the last of the 13 soccer team members was freed from the cave. Pearce says: “This is clearly a time of grief for the Harris family, magnified by the physical and emotional demands of being part of this week’s highly complex and ultimately successful rescue operation.” Pearce says the anesthetist and experienced cave diver would return to his home in Adelaide city soon. Harris played a part in deciding

Facebook is staring down its first fine for allowing Cambridge Analytica to improperly access data about millions of people, potentially opening the door for governments around the world to slap the social media giant with other tougher penalties and stricter regulation. On Tuesday, U.K. watchdogs announced a $664,000 preliminary fine — the maximum amount allowed — after finding Facebook lacked strong privacy protections and overlooked critical warning signs that might have prevented Cambridge Analytica from trying to manipulate public opinion on behalf of clients around the world, including those who sought to withdraw Britain from the European Union in 2016. A Russian pop star who helped arrange the Trump Tower meeting between the Trump campaign and Russians and who was also present at Donald Trump’s visit to the Miss Universe pageant in 2013 is denying allegations that he was a Russian agent who interfered in the 2016 election. Emin Agalarov, the son of a Azerbaijani-Russian oligarch close to Vladimir Putin, denies the collusion allegations in an interview with Vice News that airs Tuesday night. “I have been accused of influencing — this is gonna sound very strange — influencing the American election,” Agalarov said. “It’s quite a strange and ridiculous

Sacha Baron Cohen has done his best to avoid the spotlight and hide behind the characters he plays for almost 20 years, but that may be about to change. Sarah Palin revealed on Tuesday that she was duped into filming an interview with Sacha Baron Cohen in Washington DC for his new series Who Is America?, completely unaware of the comedian´s intentions. She claims that Cohen disguised himself as a wounded veteran for the sit-down, and that to cap things off the production team knowingly dropped her and her daughter off at the wrong airport, knowing they would not be

Even before President Trump chose Brett Kavanaugh to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court, political henchmen and media hacks began rummaging through his record like so many rats in a ripe dumpster. Their sojourn in the slime revealed nothing more sinister than a conscientious jurist who has actually read the Constitution. To their dismay, his most notable opinion as a judge on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals suggests that he’ll vote to strike down Obamacare’s individual mandate, as well as its guaranteed issue and community rating provisions, when Texas v. United States makes its way to SCOTUS.

Mueller reveals tenuous link between

It´s often been observed that special counsel Robert Mueller, assigned to investigate alleged Trump-Russia collusion in the 2016 presidential campaign, has yet to charge anyone with a crime involving Trump-Russia collusion in the 2016 presidential campaign. The biggest of Mueller´s indictments, that of one-time Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, has no connection at all to collusion. And until a few days ago, it appeared to have no connection to Donald Trump, either. Now, though, Mueller has revealed why he believes the Manafort prosecution is related to the 2016 Trump campaign. It´s a small part, a very small part, of the overall charges

My mother and the nuns always taught me never to make fun of anybody´s looks, especially those who were born disfigured, dressed funny or were overweight. As a child I was very thin and was called skinny melink by my brother who would compare me with a Halloween skeleton. That all changed when I was 12 and my father died and I found comfort in food and so began my battle with weight that I still cope with today. So I understand how difficult it is to deal with a weight problem but….. I´m not sure when it became a self esteem

Accountability: Even before President Trump announced his pick to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court, predictions of doom and gloom were rampant. They´ll only get more dire as Brett Kavanaugh´s nomination battle proceeds. Will anyone hold these people accountable for their unfounded, irresponsible, uninformed scaremongering claims? As a public service, we´ve been collecting some of the more fantastical forecasts about the hellscape that Judge Kavanaugh will unleash on the country should he make it to the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, political leaders and the media can get away with such outlandish claims because nobody bothers to follow up. They just

NATO: For Eurocrats, there never seems to be any downside to insulting President Trump, a man the EU´s suave socialists love to hate. It has been on display as Trump prepares to meet with his fellow NATO members during his trip to Europe. Typical was the snarky, disrespectful reception for Trump prepared by European Council President Donald Tusk, on the eve of the much-awaited NATO meeting: "First of all, dear America, appreciate your allies, after all you don´t have that many." Tusk went on, talking about how Trump was "criticizing Europe almost daily for, in his view, insufficient contributions to

Greg Sargent of the Washington Post, Senator Chuck Schumer, and others on the left are trying to trash President Trump´s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, in as many ways possible. One of their many lines of attack is that Trump knows that Kavanaugh will let Trump off on any potential legal problems, presumably from Special Counsel Robert Mueller. The first question that Sargent, Schumer and other leftists of this state of mind should be asked is which law Trump broke? What´s more, how would some garden-variety stealing-or-lying charge, whatever it is, somehow make it to the Supreme Court? And more to

It’s a sign of health in a publication when it dares sustain disagreement. And so it speaks well of New York magazine that it is willing to publish two points of view on what seems to be that most pressing of questions, which is, "Are Men Beasts?" On the "yes" side, Rebecca Traister weighed in on June 29, describing herself and her friends as "Panicking. Nauseated. Heads and hearts pounding" at the coming retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy and the thought of his replacement by our own homegrown class of despotic oppressors: white men. But does she mean men, or white men,

Washington- Have you been keeping up with the charges against Congressman Jim Jordan? They first wafted from the swamp around July 3 when NBC News quoted three former wrestlers as saying the congressman had to know about “inappropriate” behavior by an Ohio State University team physician towards some Ohio State wrestlers. The “inappropriate” behavior supposedly occurred 30 years ago. Yes, I said 30 years ago. That was when Jordan, a former two-time NCAA champion, was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State, and, oh yes, he was in his early 20s. Like dandelions in an untreated lawn, the now infamous Russian dossier apparently multiplied in numbers — and emissaries delivering it to the FBI — the closer Donald Trump got to the White House. We know from public testimony that dossier author and former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele shared his findings with the FBI in summer and fall 2016 before he was terminated as a confidential source for inappropriate media contacts. And we learned that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) provided a copy to the FBI after the November 2016 election — out of a sense of duty, his office says. Now, memos the

MAE SAI, Thailand — Adul Sam-on, 14, has never been a stranger to peril. At age 6, Adul had already escaped a territory in Myanmar known for guerrilla warfare, opium cultivation and methamphetamine trafficking. His parents slipped him into Thailand, in the hopes that proper schooling would provide him with a better life than that of his illiterate, impoverished family. But his greatest escape came on Tuesday, when he and 11 other members of a youth soccer team, along with their coach, were all finally freed from the Tham Luang Cave in northern Thailand, after an ordeal stretching more than two weeks. This time, Trump Derangement Syndrome is getting a bad rap. Paranoids have real enemies and leftists whose heads are exploding over the president’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court have real reasons to be horrified. And, no, it’s not because of abortion, which is probably the least of their problems right now. It’s all the other tentacles of coercive liberalism that Democrats were able to ram down the throats of ordinary Americans for more than half a century thanks to activist courts. Their heyday is over — if Kavanaugh is confirmed and becomes the reliable fifth vote to uphold the

Team Mitch’s troll game continues. The campaign account of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, which has also posted an image of their leader dusted with white powder after he was dubbed “Cocaine Mitch,” made fun of those demonstrators who heckled and threatened him outside a Louisville restaurant over the weekend. The “Team Mitch” account re-tweeted an article from The Hill about the confrontation — where, among other things, one demonstrator yelled “we know where you live, Mitch” — and implicitly called them cowards. “I see what they did here.
