Trump Nails Trade Hypocrisy

President Trump’s participation in the G7 conference in Canada focused on trade. Once again, he made it clear that he wants our trading partners’ tariffs and other barriers to U.S. imports to come down. This gave the American press the vapors, but why? Our president certainly should try to reduce obstacles to sales of American goods. (Snip) Trump is right that most countries protect their agricultural industries with tariff and non-tariff barriers. (The EU’s ban on GMO crops is an example of a non-tariff barrier that is rational only as an act of protectionism.) The U.S. has the most efficient

The body beautiful? Well, hardly. With claw feet, bat ears and a truncated torso, she looks like some mythical creature from The Lord Of The Rings. Yet this strange-looking person is in her way the perfect specimen, because if we were all built like this, we would never go deaf, heart attacks would be a thing of the past, and it would be virtually impossible to tumble over. The fact of the matter is that the human body, although fantastic, is very far from perfect. (Photo) As an anatomist, I know that millions of years of evolution have left us

President Trump was asked about Russia during a press conference in Canada Saturday, and he responded by reminding everyone that it was former President Obama who let Russian aggression go unchecked. WATCH: (Video) When asked about Russia annexing Crimea, Trump said, “You have to ask President Obama because he let Crimea get away, that was during his administration.” “Crimea was let go during the Obama Administration, and Obama can say all he wants but he allowed Russia to take Crimea,” he also said. “I may have had a much different attitude.” Trump isn’t the first person to point the finger

After trying to smooth over tensions with the six other leaders at the summit in Canada, Trump spoke optimistically about his looming meeting and said he believed it would go well. ´I will be on a mission of peace and will carry in my heart the hearts of millions of people, all over the world. ´We really think North Korea will be a tremendous place in a very short period of

The Hollywood celebrity was not challenged on his loose definition of “mainstream,” although he did admit that many Americans also gravitate to liberal networks like MSNBC. Mr. Reiner, who was on to promote his new film “Shock and Awe,” added that outlets like HuffPost were wrong to treat Mr. Trump like a joke during his campaign. “I think the press let us down because I don’t they thought he could get the nomination, I don’t think they thought he could win. So they played it kind of funny. Even Huffington Post put it on the comedy page initially.” (Video)

CNN’s Ratings Collapse

Far-left cable channel CNN suffered a massive ratings collapse in May. June is shaping up to be worse. CNN stumbled out of May with a massive -25 percent ratings collapse when compared to the same month last year. Because Fox News actually experienced total viewer growth and MSNBC’s loss was a negligible two percent, we know the problem is CNN and not the news cycle or Americans tiring of the news. To understand just how awful of a week CNN just had, you have to understand just how bad the entire month of May was for the anti-Trump cable channel.

Don’t laugh too hard but this has been a terrible week for the renewable energy dream. Across the world solar energy share prices have crashed. The move caught many in the industry off guard. The government won’t grant subsidies to any new ordinary solar projects this year. For those that are being built, the

From his tender heel the day after he won the Kentucky Derby to his tired performance in the Preakness to his starting position on the dreaded rail in the Belmont Stakes, he’d encountered obstacles that have defeated many an excellent horse. It would take a great champion to render all those subplots meaningless. Justify, as it turns out, is just that.

Book tours can be brutal. It took 20 years for Bill Clinton to be properly publicly shamed for the ugly bargain at the heart of the Clinton operation. As a politician, the former president was gifted. James Carville liked to say: “People are confused. They don’t know which one they like more, the peace or the prosperity.” Even Barack Obama, another talented pol, was forced to turn to his former nemesis to help sell his agenda for his second term, christening Bill the “Secretary of Explaining Stuff.” And if Hillary had listened to Bill’s urgent warnings about addressing the alienation of white men in flyover country in 2016, she’d be president.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) could be talking the way out of a 2018 midterm win. It’s still possible, however. A lot of indicators have shifted away from the Democrats in that endeavor. The generic ballot advantage Democrats enjoyed has been chipped away. The messaging is off. They’re now fighting the same losing battles with Trump, like defending trashing the American flag and the national anthem, with the most recent giving cover to MS-13 gang members as folks…who aren’t so bad. Sorry, no—they’re garbage human beings who are thugs, rapists, and murderers, devoid of any humanity.

It is an interesting contrast. The media are in a lather over the Justice Department’s grand-jury investigation of contacts between several reporters and a government source — the former Senate Intelligence Committee security director who has been indicted for lying to investigators about his leaks to the press. The same media are in a lather over the refusal of the president of the United States, at least thus far, to submit to questioning by the special counsel in the Russia investigation. The president is placing himself “above the law,” they contend, if he rebuffs prosecutors or defies a grand-jury subpoena.

Minneapolis police abruptly ended the practice of targeting small-scale marijuana sellers downtown after revelations that nearly every one arrested was black. In a series of rushed announcements Thursday, authorities said that police would no longer conduct sting operations targeting low-level marijuana sales, and charges against 47 people arrested in the first five months of 2018 would be dismissed. The extraordinary turnaround came after Hennepin County’s chief public defender contacted Mayor Jacob Frey to complain about what looked like blatant racial profiling. Frey then directed Chief Medaria Arradondo to stop
