It Sure Looks Like Steve Bannon Wants

Former chief White House strategist (and Breitbart boss) Steve Bannon is a revolutionary, not a reformer. So it stands to reason that his efforts to remake the GOP in a more nationalist image must begin with burning things down. In case you missed it, Bannon, who is funded by conservative donor Robert Mercer, is reportedly “planning a slate of primary challenges against Republican senators, potentially undermining the party’s prospects in 2018 and further inflaming tensions between GOP leaders and the White House.” The list of potential targets includes Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, Mississippi’s Roger Wicker, and Nevada Sen. Dean Heller. In Alabama, Bannon

Among the enduring criticisms of Hillary Clinton: Her sense of entitlement is limitless. She’s tone-deaf and doesn’t understand the average American — nor does she care to. Her greed is insatiable. Add to this a gaping lack of self-awareness, and you have all the ingredients for the New York City launch of Hillary’s nationwide book tour Tuesday morning (also primary day, not that Hillary — who maintains she’s still here only for us — cares about that either). Thousands of people lined up outside the Barnes & Noble at Union Square in hopes of meeting their idol. Some slept outside the night

North Korea represents the most imminent

North Korea represents the most imminent threat to U.S. national security. Pyongyang’s test this month of a fusion bomb and its launch last month of an ICBM have demonstrated its ability to launch nuclear attacks on U.S. soil. Kim Jong Un’s regime may not be fully deterred by a retaliatory strike – it already enslaves most of its population. Even if North Korea never fires upon the continental U.S., it might attack South Korea and Japan or share its technology with other American enemies, such as Iran or even terrorist groups. Nevertheless, we will likely witness yet another cycle of fruitless

I know it ´s premature, since I predicted (and I stand by it) that Donald Trump would win reelection handily in 2020, but more and more I am convinced that Nikki Haley should be our first woman president. And this is not just a reaction to the recent publication of Hillary Clinton´s new book What Happened in which Mrs. Clinton apparently details precisely the opposite, blaming everyone and everything for her defeat from Bernie Sanders to the "late eclipses of the sun and moon," except for herself. I say "apparently" because I am less likely actually to read her book

The statue, on the western side of the Central Coast property near the mission´s office, has since been covered with a tarp. The Santa Barbara mission has been called the "Queen of the Missions." NEW YORK — Hillary Clinton, who spent decades on the public stage in a myriad of roles and changing personas, emerged Tuesday in a new one: ghost from the political past. The reception was decidedly mixed. (Snip) The former candidate, wearing a luminescent turquoise jacket and trademark black pantsuit, arrived at the bookstore nearly an hour after the scheduled 11 a.m. starting time. The crowd greeted her with shouts of "Hillary! Hillary! Hillary!" The country’s voting machines are susceptible to hacking, which could be done in a way so that it leaves no fingerprints, making it impossible to know whether the outcome was changed, computer experts told President Trump’s voter integrity commission Tuesday. The testimony marked a departure for the commission, which was formed to look into fraud and barriers to voting, but which heard that a potentially greater threat to confidence in American elections is the chance for enemy actors to meddle. “There’s no perfect security; there’s only degrees of insecurity,” said Ronald Rivest, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mayor de Blasio cruised to an easy victory in the Democratic primary on Tuesday — trouncing little-known former City Council member Sal Albanese and other long-shot hopefuls in a race that was never competitive. With 40 percent of precincts reporting, de Blasio had 70.75 percent of the votes, or 44,417 votes, the Board of Elections said. Albanese was trailing behind with 17.84 percent, or 25,634 votes. NY1 called the race for de Blasio. With the economy up and crime continuing its steady decline, no established contenders were willing to risk losing their current seats to challenge the incumbent mayor. A number

Tom Tancredo (R-CO). The dinner, sources said, took place on the eve of the House’s passage of two relatively minor immigration bills at the end of June: Kate’s Law and sanctuary city reforms. The far wider reaching Davis-Oliver Act was tabled at the same time. “Ryan told a group of Republicans he met with … that only

Washington - An ideologically divided U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday handed a win to Republicans in Texas by putting on hold rulings that said electoral districts drawn by state lawmakers discriminated against minority voters. On a 5-4 vote, with the court’s conservatives in the majority and the liberal justices dissenting, the court in a brief order blocked two different lower court decisions that found fault with both congressional districts and state legislative districts drawn by the Republican-controlled state legislature. In August, a federal court in Texas struck down two Republican-drawn congressional districts saying

No major Democrat was willing to take on the incumbent mayor, and he faced a group of underfinanced, little-known rivals. As a result, the contest had all the urgency of a preseason football game, generating little interest among voters. Mr. de Blasio will now focus on the general election, on Nov. 7, when he will face the Republican candidate,

Senators on Capitol Hill passed this week with both speed and unanimous voice a resolution that condemns white supremacist groups and that suggests President Donald Trump ought to do the same. This strikes as a frightened, “Hail, Mary” move to save their own political seats. And don’t forget: Republicans are in the majority. Rather than signing their names to meaningless political documents that give leftists more fuel to toss on their anti-Trump fire, Republicans could instead talk about the evils of racism by mentioning their own party’s support for the Civil Rights Act — and their Democratic colleagues’ unfortunate stand on the

A second-term Republican congressman announced Monday he would not run for re-election next year, becoming the third targeted GOP member in the past week to retire as the party faces a potentially difficult fight to maintain its majority in 2018. The decision by Rep. Dave Trott of Michigan (pictured) followed retirement announcements last week by Reps. Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania and Dave Reichert of Washington, three members Democrats planned to try to unseat next year. Though all would have been difficult incumbents to defeat, the districts are likely to be much more competitive for Democrats as open races. Several nonpartisan handicappers
