Former President Barack Obama’s National Security Advisor Susan Rice admitted on Thursday that, over the course of Obama’s two terms in office, his administration failed to stop the communist North Korean government from building its nuclear weapons capability. “You can call it a failure,” Rice told CNN. “I accept that characterization of the efforts of the United States over the last two decades.” But she also said other administrations were not able to put a stop to it. The Washington Examiner reported on the interview, noting that Rice served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and was Obama’s top national

James Damore had to be fired. There was no way around it. He spoke out, eloquently, against orthodoxy and if history is any guide, he’ll be lucky to escape with merely a loss of employment. I’m less disconsolate about his ouster—as that was a foregone conclusion—as I am troubled by the cultural tempest surrounding it and what it portends for the future of substantive discussion of the important issues that affect all our lives. (Snip)As people began taking sides on the question—which is to say, immediately—we all knew and accepted that precious few would actually read his full thoughts before

Progressive propaganda, relying on misdirection, misinterpretation, and outright falsehoods, permeates American life and touches or taints every topic. The corporations that produce mass entertainment and news, the government bureaucracies that shape and fund education, the schools from kindergarten to college, and the tech firms that control the flow of information and ideas, are all subject to a groupthink that, for all intents and purposes, brooks absolutely no dissent from Leftist dogma. The leaders and followers in the narrative-producing industries are mostly true believers themselves. Everything they touch becomes a vehicle for spreading progressive delusions because, essentially, they can do nothing else.

Robert Harris’ new novel, Munich, will be published in September. It’s too early to review it, but I’ve read a proof copy and can say it’s as intelligent and gripping as one has come to expect from Harris, while the depictions of Chamberlain and Hitler are brilliant. The novel also raises the question of army resistance to Hitler, something that critics of the Munich Agreement and elements in the German Foreign Office made much of after the war. Was there indeed an army plot to arrest or even murder Hitler, and was this thwarted by the Munich Agreement? Certainly some in the

Good Lord. Imagine the collective outcry if anything remotely similar had been said on air by a news organization against the former president. Add to this the heightened state of unhinged anti-Trumpism from the far left and what we have here is CNN actively participating in creating an environment that already contributed to Republican members of Congress getting shot by Democrat activists. (Congressman Steve Scalise is still fighting hard to recover from his wounds.) Is this wishful thinking? Marching orders? Irresponsible hyperbole? You decide: (Video)

As I read reactions to President Trump´s jokes, I wonder if the journalists taking the jokes literally do so because they are foolish, or because they think the public can be so easily fooled. Perhaps it varies from journo to journo. Consider the latest example. Reporters asked President Trump about Putin kicking 755 American diplomats out in retaliation to new sanctions against Russia. The President of the United States of America replied: “I want to thank him because we’re trying to cut down our payroll, and as far as I’m concerned I’m very thankful that he let go of a

I do not like West Virginia´s Senator Joe Manchin, D-All For Himself. But rumor has it President Trump will move Rick Perry over to Homeland Security, and then pick Manchin to run the Department of Energy. The deal apparently hinges on Governor Jim Justice appointing a Republican to replace Manchin. I would not trust Justice or Manchin with their own money. Manchin is a cap-and-trader. Justice owes the state millions in back taxes. That said, if we can cut deals with Saudi princes for the sake of the democracy, why not a couple of West Virginia Democrats? Oh wait, Justice switched parties a few

There have been multiple media reports in the last six hours that President Trump is going to announce trade investigation/sanctions against China during a press conference scheduled for Monday. It makes sense the previously postponed 301 trade investigation against China for violations of intellectual property rights might be announced. Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 provides the United States with the authority to enforce trade agreements, resolve trade disputes, and open foreign markets to U.S. goods and services.(Snip)However, a note of caution. Substantive trade negotiations, the kind which involve economics and national security, are always fluid and subject to pause,

The lawsuit, according to Ali’s lawyer, Patricia Glaser, is without merit and “does not identify which purportedly ‘false and misleading’ statements could possibly support a $50 million damages award.” Glaser calls Bolling’s suit “a calculated effort to harass and intimidate Mr. Ali personally.”

This mission is shared with the USAID, ensuring we have a common path forward in partnership as we invest in the shared security and prosperity that will ultimately better prepare us for the challenges of tomorrow. Col. David “Wil” Riggins, after a highly decorated Army career that included multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was on the verge of promotion to brigadier general in July 2013 when he got a phone call at the Pentagon from the Army’s Criminal Investigative Division to come in for a meeting. Once there, he learned that a blogger in Washington state had just accused him of raping her, when both were cadets at West Point in 1986. An investigation was underway. Riggins waived his right to an attorney and immediately gave a statement denying any sexual assault of the woman, Susan

In many quarters of the American news media today, seasoned journalists seem incapable of pondering those parts of reality that don’t complement their political worldviews. It goes beyond “bias”—we’re all biased. This is negligence. Consider the trove of emails between FBI and Department of Justice officials published this week. The emails concern the June 27, 2016, meeting between former president Bill Clinton and then-attorney general Loretta Lynch. As readers may remember, Clinton paid an apparently impromptu visit to the attorney general aboard her DoJ plane while it was parked at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor airport. It was extremely improper for the two

A Korean Peninsula free of nuclear weapons is a goal both Washington and Beijing are interested in pursuing, U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed during a phone conversation Friday. That portion of their phone call was confirmed early Saturday in a White House statement and in a report on Chinese state television. During the conversation, Xi also requested that the U.S. and North Korea both tone down their recent rhetoric and avoid actions that could worsen tensions between the two nations, Chinese Central Television said. “At present, the relevant parties must maintain restraint and avoid words and deeds that

For days now the media and regular Trump critics on Capitol Hill have berated the President for his rhetoric about North Korea. Specifically, they´ve said his words about "fire and fury" were particularly incendiary. But back in the 1990s when North Korea was causing problems and issuing threats about atomic bombs, President Bill Clinton essentially said the same thing. From the New York Times in 1996: The North Korean Government accused President Clinton today of provoking it with threats of war after he warned that the United States would retaliate if North Korea developed nuclear arms. In addition to the active lawsuit I have in federal court over the intrusion into my government computers, I have been litigating several of the many failed government responses to lawful Freedom of Information Act requests. I’m giving up on one of them as of this week. It’s my request for public material the government withheld after the disastrous launch of Obamacare in 2013 when I was reporting on the topic for CBS News. We have learned, among other things, that federal officials gave incorrect and misleading information to the public and under oath to Congress regarding serious security failures in development

The phrase, “Women can do anything men can do,” seems at first to be a rather harmless sentiment. As with all such, it has its uses, if not taken too far. If men can be surgeons, then so can women. If men can run a hardware store, then so can women. If men can be linebackers in the National Football League -- uh, too far. Unfortunately, for leftist ideologues, there are no moderate positions on anything. You either agree with them in every detail, or else you are evil. Can we discuss our differences? No!
