The city of New Rochelle, N.Y., will soon play host to the wedding of MSNBC host Alex Wagner and White House special advisor/chef Sam Kass, Vogue Magazine’s official political “It-Couple.” And according to Politico, President Barack Obama will be in attendance. Obama first hired Kass in 2008 as his family’s personal chef, eventually bringing him to the White House and tapping him as an advisor for nutrition policy and the executive director for Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative. Insiders say that the president considers Kass as family, and that the two have a long-standing golf/basketball/every-sport-ever rivalry. The New Rochelle Talk

The president has just held a press conference announcing he will do nothing much to counter the crises unfolding in the Ukraine and Syria. The New York Times reports: ’Obama Urges Calm in Face of Two Crises’. (Snip) The sanctions of course, have done nothing to stop Russia so far. It will now take a frightening amount of either military or economic pressure to rein in the Bear. So what’s the president going to do? The only thing he can do: keep going down the road he started. Obama’s time to stand came a long time ago and it’s receding

LOS ANGELES -- California´s legislature wants to define in law just when "yes means yes´´ on college campuses. The state Senate unanimously approved legislation Thursday that, according to its sponsor, will change how campus officials investigate sexual assault allegations. The bill goes to Gov. Jerry Brown, who has until the end of September to sign it into law. Rather than using the refrain "no means no," the definition of consent under the bill requires "an affirmative, unambiguous and conscious decision" by each party to engage in sexual activity. If it becomes law, the measure would apply to all colleges and universities accepting

intelligence community has observed a “significant increase” in chatter among terrorist organizations as the 13th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks nears. “We’ve noticed a significant increase in chatter among Islamic terrorist organizations overseas both on the Internet and phone lines,” a U.S. government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Blaze. While the intelligence community can not pinpoint whether or not an attack is planned, the official said that agencies “did see this kind of increase in chatter before the September 11 attacks.”

Amid conflicting congressional demands, impatient Arab allies, and public concern that he will do too much or too little, President Obama made bluntly clear Thursday why he has not yet implemented a comprehensive U.S. response to the Islamist insurgency that is rapidly spreading across the Middle East. “We don’t have a strategy yet,” Obama said, in response to questions about when he is prepared to begin military action in Syria, and, if not, why not? Rarely has a president spoken so plainly. “I don’t want to put the cart before the horse,” he said. The suggestion that “we’re about to

Megyn Kelly was incredibly bewildered Thursday night at President Obama‘s comment about having no concrete Syria strategy yet. Ed Henry was very blunt in telling Kelly that this is an unqualified “disaster” for the White House. Henry admitted he was “stunned” that none of his colleagues in the briefing room followed up on that remark of the president’s, especially considering how quickly after the presser the White House jumped right into “damage control mode.” And whereas last night Henry blew Kelly’s mind by telling her Obama would be attending one fundraiser on Friday, he told her tonight that actually, it’s going to

WASHINGTON — President Obama confronted a pair of volatile international crises with restraint on Thursday as he said he was not close to authorizing airstrikes against Islamic extremists in Syria and played down the latest escalation of Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine. With tensions rising in Europe and the Middle East, Mr. Obama emphasized that a military response would not resolve either situation and pledged to build international coalitions to grapple with them. Despite pressure from within his own government for more assertive action, he tried to avoid inflaming passions as he sought new approaches.

President Obama gave a press conference today, in which the prime topic was ISIL. Obama’s constant theme was that we don’t have a strategy to deal with the terrorist organization that has been rampaging across Syria and Iraq for months. A transcript of the press conference is here: I’ll be meeting with my National Security Council again this evening as we continue to develop that strategy. And I’ve been consulting with members of Congress, and I’ll continue to do so in the days ahead. … And in order for us to degrade ISIL over the long term, we’re going to

Last month, AFP reported that the Islamic State had established a marriage bureau to help jihadists find brides. It was a troubling sign that ISIL and its self-proclaimed caliphate believed it would be around for a while. Since then, the group has been digging in: In the Syrian city of Raqqah on the banks of the Euphrates River, Islamic State militants are busy building a capital fit for their followers. Human rights observers say they have stoned women to death for adultery, while residents report that religious textbooks have been imported for schools and the market flooded with black cloaks

Within a couple hours of President Obama’s telling reporters that “we don’t have a strategy yet” for taking on the Islamic State, White House press secretary Josh Earnest clarified that President Obama does have a strategy, or at least part of one. He told CNN that the White House has outlined an approach for addressing the Islamic State’s efforts in Iraq, but is still awaiting to hear back from the Pentagon on military options in Syria, which is what the president was referring to. In part, Earnest explained, the Pentagon is exploring a broader strategy beyond just American military involvement.

You’re looking at the biggest story involving the federal budget and a crucial one for the future of the American economy. Every year for the last six years in a row, the Congressional Budget Office has reduced its estimate for how much the federal government will need to spend on Medicare in coming years. The latest reduction came in a report from the budget office on Wednesday morning. The changes are big. The difference between the current estimate for Medicare’s 2019 budget and the estimate for the 2019 budget four years ago is about $95 billion. That sum is greater than the government is expected to spend that year on

Sean Hannity remarked that it seems like ISIS has declared war on the United States. “These cockroaches organized, funded themselves, built a forceful military, started conquering geographic areas all around the world, under [Obama’s] nose. He ignored it. He did nothing about it. He didn’t talk to the American people about it—as a matter of fact, he downplayed it. This is one of the worst military, national security screw ups in modern American history,” Levin said. Levin called Obama “a peculiar, petulant man” with a thin resume

Unlike most American presidents, Barack Obama took his inaugural oath of office twice, the latter affirmation serving as a private belt-and-braces remedy to a verbal mistake, the former as the usual public spectacle. Four years later, he repeated the trick, promising fealty first during an exclusive White House ceremony, and then, a day later, before the nation at large. Thus did our 44th president bring to a remarkable four the number of times that he had solemnly sworn to faithfully execute the Office, and, to the best of his ability, to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United
