U.S. government to grow 30

The U.S. government has upped the quantity of marijuana it’s growing this year, to more than 1,400 pounds from the originally planned 46. The federal government classifies marijuana as a substance that has no medical use and is more dangerous than cocaine. But it’s willing to let researchers have access — under a few conditions. One condition is that each project needs approval from the Drug Enforcement Administration. Another is that researchers get the substance from a particular source: the federal government.

Sarah Palin has expressed her support for Mike Ditka, who has expressed his support for Daniel Snyder, who has vowed to never change the name of the Washington Redskins. Got all that? It can get a little confusing. Just ask Palin and Ditka. Those two seem to have forgotten what this battle is all about. Some Native American people out there consider the word "Redskins" to be derogatory and, therefore, think the team name and logo are offensive. Of course, some people from every ethnic background support that side of the battle, just like there are some Native Americans are

A slew of rappers and R&B singers released a song Wednesday that pays tribute to Michael Brown, the 18-year-old unarmed black teen shot in Missouri by police officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9. The song, entitled “Don’t Shoot” features artists including The Game, Rick Ross and Diddy, all of whom speak passionately about the need for justice in the wake of the teen’s death. Its release comes only two days after Brown’s funeral and two weeks after his hometown of Ferguson exploded in protest of the police. The Game told Rolling Stone he wanted to release the song because the issues surrounding

Chicago Democrats are hoping to make the Windy City the model for enrolling illegal immigrants into whatever new benefits the Obama administration might adopt. Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D) joined forces Wednesday with roughly 50 civic leaders to launch a comprehensive strategy for signing up those immigrants who might become newly eligible for any new benefits coming out of the administration. “When an announcement comes, we will make sure Chicago is ready, that the community institutions in our neighborhoods are ready, and that we can efficiently inform our community about what is being announced and can help

President Obama won´t be deterred from taking executive action on immigration despite threats from some congressional Republicans to force a government shutdown, the White House said Wednesday. Asked if threats from Republicans would make the president "think twice" on his plans for executive action, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said flatly, "no, it won´t. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) told the Des Moines Register on Wednesday that "all bets are off" on a continuing resolution this fall if the president moved forward on immigration. "If the president wields his pen and commits that unconstitutional act to legalize millions, I think

An internal training guide used by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs compared veterans unhappy about their care to Oscar the Grouch, a newspaper reported. The Philadelphia Inquirer obtained a VA training slide show with tips for employees on how to help veterans with their claims. It was shown to VA employees staffing town-hall events with veterans in Philadelphia. About a dozen slides included pictures of the grumpy "Sesame Street" character who lives in a trash can. The slide show said that veterans might be demanding and unrealistic, and advised staffers on "what to say to Oscar the Grouch."

The new chief economist at the Labor Department is a far-left activist who has worked for a think tank funded by labor unions, founded by George Soros, and that is in league with the Democracy Alliance. Obama named Heidi Shierholz to the labor post on Monday. Shierholz has spent the past seven years at the Economic Policy Institute (EcPI), a Soros-backed group and previous beneficiary of the Democracy Alliance, the shadowy group of liberal millionaires and billionaires. Her most prominent research has focused on pet issues of the Obama administration. She has supported Obama’s $10.10 minimum wage proposal that the

A new report from the West Point counterterrorism center challenges the notion that the Islamic State only recently became a major terror threat, describing the network´s gains in Iraq as a crisis four years in the making. Meanwhile, Fox News has learned that top aides to President Obama expect the threat from the organization, also known as ISIS or ISIL, to outlast Obama´s time in office. The details underscore the challenge facing the U.S. government and its allies as the president and military advisers weigh how -- and where -- to confront the Islamist militant forces. WASHINGTON— The White House is crafting a blame-it-on-Congress legal justification to back up President Barack Obama´s impending executive actions on immigration. Facing an expected onslaught of opposition, the administration plans to argue that Congress failed to provide enough resources to fully enforce U.S. laws, thereby ceding wide latitude to White House to prioritize deportations of the 11.5 million people who are in the country illegally, administration officials and legal experts said. But Republicans, too, are exploring their legal options for stopping Obama from what they´ve deemed egregious presidential overreaching. A self-imposed, end-of-summer deadline to act on immigration is rapidly approaching.

Napoleon Obamapart Illustration by Alexander Hunter/The Washington Times more > By Victor Davis Hanson - The Washington Times - Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Mistaken views of the past lead to dangerous, delusional expectations for the future President Obama doesn’t know much about history. In his therapeutic 2009 Cairo speech, Mr. Obama outlined all sorts of Islamic intellectual and technological pedigrees, several of which were undeserved. He exaggerated Muslim contributions to printing and medicine, for example, and was flat-out wrong about the catalysts for the European Renaissance and Enlightenment. He also thinks history follows some predetermined course, as if things always get better on their own.

The leftwing network dropped the audio the day after treating the funeral of Michael Brown as though he was a head of state. With the death porn concluded and the Ferguson streets quiet, CNN needed to fill the race-baiting vacuum with something. (Video)This is the second

WASHINGTON — At a private conclave with the billionaire Koch brothers’ political apparatus this year, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, laid out a confrontational agenda for a Republican-controlled Senate aimed at dismantling President Obama’s legislative successes through the federal budget. In an audio recording leaked to The Undercurrent, a liberal-leaning YouTube channel, and initially reported by the magazine The Nation, Mr. McConnell told the mid-June gathering in Dana Point, Calif., that if the Republicans gained control of the Senate and retained control of the House in November, Congress could use the budget process to force the president

Mr. Jindal, who had embraced the Common Core in 2010, this week said he now sees it as another example of an overbearing federal government. His about-face follows that of another potential 2016 candidate, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, who has reversed course on his signature immigration bill, and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky,

Do you remember this bit from the Constitution of the United States? [The President] shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; . . . That’s the so-called “Treaty Clause” from Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the Constitution. It is one of several checks on executive power thoughtfully provided by the Founders but flouted by the Golfer-in-Chief currently occupying the White House. Can’t get two-thirds of the Senate to approve a bit of Green Legislation you favor? No problem! Just pretend that the United States

The 30-second spot faults Coakley for underestimating the state’s gas tax during a television appearance while supporting last year’s decision to hike the tax by 3 cents to 24 cents a gallon, the first increase since 1991. Coakley also opposes a ballot question which would repeal a law automatically linking future hikes in the tax to inflation. Some 15 months after Americans learned about the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups, we still have no clue how such an abuse was allowed to happen. And every day, the story only gets murkier. This week, for instance, a government watchdog group, Judicial Watch, said administration officials admitted that all the “missing” e-mails belonging to Lois Lerner (the woman at the heart of the scandal) had been backed up after all — as part of a practice to back up all the government’s e-mails. No government official had said anything like that before. As House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., describes it, these reports are
