After finally choosing to view the barbaric, on-camera beheading of freelance war correspondent James Foley, I’ve been left with a level of rage known only to those of us who have sacrificed unspeakable offerings on the altar of world peace. My offering was my only son—Aaron Carson Vaughn. Aaron was a member of SEAL Team VI. He was killed in action when a CH47D Chinook, carrying thirty Americans and eight Afghans was shot down in the Tangi River Valley of Afghanistan on August 6, 2011. Many times over the past three years, I’ve been asked what drove my son to choose his

The key witness in the shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown was arrested for lying to cops in 2011 and currently has an outstanding arrest warrant. Dorian Johnson, 22, was arrested by police at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, where he attended college for two years. He allegedly stole a backpack belonging to someone else who lived in his apartment complex, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Jefferson City is about 120miles west of Ferguson. When cops asked Johnson for his name, he told them he was Derrick Johnson and that he was 16. Officers later found a student ID in

School children in Elyria, Ohio are mourning the demise of a 40-year tradition - the loss of their beloved pink cookie. The fabled cookie, long served in local school cafeterias, was done in by a pound of butter, six cups of powdered sugar and the Obama administration´s food police. "It no longer meets the national school lunch program guidelines for snacks," said Amy Higgins, the spokesperson for Elyria City Schools. "It has too many calories." The USDA "Smart Snacks in School" standards mandate that all snacks must contain less than 200 calories.

For two bloody months, an armed jihadist serial killer ran loose across the country. At least four innocent men died this spring and summer as acts of "vengeance" on behalf of aggrieved Muslims, the self-confessed murderer has now proclaimed. Have you heard about this horror? Probably not. The usual suspects who decry hate crimes and gun violence haven´t uttered a peep. Why? Like O.J.´s glove: If the narrative don´t fit, you must acquit. The admitted killer will be cast as just another "lone wolf" whose familiar grievances and bloodthirsty Islamic invocations mean nothing. I say: Enough with the whitewashing. Meet

The so-called Arab Spring has turned out to be a disaster. The promise of democracy and renewal has fallen through almost everywhere. Where has it prospered? Perhaps only in Tunisia, the nation where it began. Elsewhere the resultant chaos has seen a vicious group of jihadists stake its claim in the Middle East while the West has watched, seemingly paralysed. Until this week, that is, when the American journalist James Foley was brutally murdered by these terrorists. Now there is the real possibility of a major escalation in the US air war against Isil. It is the eighth time in three years the government has retreated from its original, hard-line stance that only “houses of worship” that hire and serve fellow believers deserve religious freedom. At least 18 Palestinians accused of spying for Israel were executed Friday in the Gaza Strip on the orders of a self-appointed Palestinian “revolutionary court,” Hamas-linked media and witnesses reported. Meanwhile, in the southern Israeli city of Ashdod, a rocket fired from Gaza made a direct hit on a synagogue, badly damaging the structure and causing minor injuries to at least two people, Israeli media said. The escalating violence in the 6-week-old war follows this week’s collapse of a series of cease-fires and an abrupt suspension of interim negotiations that had been taking place in Cairo, the Egyptian capital.
